Joe Biden: I Chose Being Senator Over Having ‘a Real Job’

Joe Biden: I Never Had an Interest In Being a Mayor Cause Thats a Real Job

It’s not uncommon for Vice President Joe Biden to unleash humorous gaffes. While much of last week‘s coverage surrounding the nation’s second-in-command focused upon his call for a “global minimum tax,” some of his other oddball comments flew under the radar. On Thursday evening, the prominent politician made some curious comments about not wanting “a real job.”

According to press accounts, while praising Chicago’s former Mayor Richard M. Daley and former White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Biden told the audience, ”I never had an interest in being a mayor ’cause that’s a real job.  You have to produce. That’s why I was able to be a senator for 36 years.”

While these comments were potentially made with humor in mind, they are certainly intriguing. After all, Obama and Biden have incessantly promised results to the American people (i.e. they have promised “to produce”).

Joe Biden: I Never Had an Interest In Being a Mayor Cause Thats a Real Job

The Huffington Post offers the full text of his quote:

“I never had an interest in being a mayor ‘cause that’s a real job. You have to produce. That’s why I was able to be a senator for 36 years. [Obama's] a little like my image of you, Richie. The one thing that always amazed me was the decisive moves you make. You just make the decisions … I consider Billy Daley one of my closest friends in the world.”

In this latter point, Biden praised Richard Daley for his calculation and compared Obama to the former mayor. While these are nice compliments, it’s also worth noting, though, that Biden ran for president in both 1988 and 2008. Wouldn’t this, too, require “decisive moves?” Didn’t Biden — at least based on his past campaign rhetoric — also want “a real job” (unless he doesn’t consider being the leader of the free world true deliverable employment)?

The Washington Examiner’s Byron York describes Biden’s career as follows:

Biden was elected to the Senate in November 1972, when he was 29 years old.  When he took office in January 1973, he had turned 30, the minimum age set in the Constitution for membership in the Senate.  Biden served in the Senate from that time until January 2009, when he became vice president.

Joe Biden: I Never Had an Interest In Being a Mayor Cause Thats a Real Job

In addition to his “real job” talk, the vice-president talked about Obama’s re-election prospects and expressed some reservations about how world events could impact prospects this November.

“I don‘t think we’ll be beaten by those candidates,” Biden said. “I think we’ll be beaten — if we are — by something happening in the Eurozone, or something happening in the Gulf, which could be difficult for us, or this barrage of Super PAC money.  But even with that, I feel good.”

Was the late Thomas Carpano also a friend of Delaware Joe?

The Capanos went 62 miles (100 km) out to sea and pushed the cooler overboard. However, it floated, even after they shot the cooler. Thomas retrieved the cooler, took the body out, and wrapped the anchor chains around it. Gerry then was asked to help dispose of a blood-stained sofa and carpet in a dumpster, which was managed by another brother, Louis. Subsequently, Thomas ordered Louis to empty the dumpsters; Louis had them emptied out of their regular schedule. The cooler was found on July 4, 1996, by a local fisherman, Ken Chubb.

5 guys on a train speeding toward a cliff. 1 guy is shoveling coal as fast as he can. 3 guys are arguing about how much coal they will shovel. The last guy is in the back of the engine yelling to put the brakes on. This is an illustration of our economy and the current group running for president. The saddest part is all the others refer to the guy in back yelling for the brakes as a nut job. The 4 people vying to be the one to pilot this train over the cliff are not alone. There is a whole host of back pocket media and uneducated mouth breathers out there who are in favor of the same thing. Snide comments don’t mean much sometimes when you merely look where they are coming from.

The guy in the back you must be refering to Ron Paul (caboose might be fitting). Yes, we supposed “uneducated mouth breathers” have agreed that your stopped clock is right about a couple things, but yes… Ron Paul remains an unelectable nut. If you listen to Charles Manson long enough he has probably made a couple of astounding comments of his own… but remains a nut… a very dangerous nut.

These people are sickening, no class crooks. I remember reading about the Andrew Jackson era when a bunch about like this invaded the White House and were so uncouth and ingorant it was talked about for years. Many who were coming there were about like these people only this modern bunch of ignorants are people who people parrot the same party line of the Marxists and socialists. The socialists now in the White house are just the Marxists lite, who will eventually line up with the Marxists. When we get these people out of our White House, we better totally clean house because they are like a virus. These people are suffering from massive DA (dumb azz) and were perfect for those who wanted to institute a Socialist and eventually Marxist government on the shores of this country. They are not leaders, but breeders of filth, and are common to the point of being scrapped from the bottom of the barrell. Their ideas of loyalty is sucking up to the most successful. They do not have natural affection in their hearts, and they are psychopaths who never got to kill openly. They cause mass damage to people without so much as a look of compassion. These are perfect for those trying to change this country in a European type failure.
