Joe-ver-the-Top Biden: VP Accuses GOP of Putting Cops and Firefighters in Danger…at Taxpayer-Funded Event

Speaking to a gathering of more than 100 federal, state, and local police officers and firefighters at his Washington residence, Vice President Joe Biden suggested the GOP is more interested in tax cuts for the wealthy than in “policies that would save the lives of police officers and firefighters,” according to Keith Koffler of White House Dossier. And it was all done on your dime.

“You’re stuck in a God-awful mess, and so it doesn’t make sense to us that that would be happening at a time when the need for y’all actually would be increasing,” pool reports record Biden as saying.

Biden sarcastically praised policymakers who choose to vote against funding for local law enforcement during “tight” fiscal times: “At least they’re consistent.”

And this is where he equated opposition to increases in taxes with putting lives in danger:

There’s one thing we know: the more cops on the street, the fewer cops get killed. The more firefighters responding to a fire, the fewer injuries to the firefighters, because you have each other’s backs.

So if you vote for tax increases, you vote to increase the ranks of policemen and firefighters. But it you vote against said increases, you are decreasing their ranks, and therefore making it more likely that one of them will die.

How dare you?

“The first guy who’s going to have a problem is the guy whose $3 million home is on fire and you can’t get a truck out there,” Biden said, warning the “wealthy” that a failure to increase funds would come back to haunt them.

“The first guy that’s going to have a problem is the person who has real assets and finds their house burglarized or robbed, or their Porsche is stolen,” Biden said. “I’m not very subtle; I find it absolutely beyond my understanding.”

Indeed, the type of people who go to $10,000 per-couple fundraisers to feast on New York strip steaks and white truffle mashed potatoes can be very difficult to understand.

And here’s the icing on the cake: “Though Biden’s remarks were partisan and clearly designed to curry political favor with firefighters and police, the gathering was billed as an official event and paid for by taxpayers,” Koffler writes.

But should the Vice President’s comments really shock or surprise anyone given his history?

Whether he’s making patently false historical claims, publicly acknowledging the accomplishments of soft drinks, warning women that they’ll be raped if Congress doesn’t pass certain bills, or lavishing praise on soon-to-fail “green” energy initiatives, it seems the Vice President has made a career out of sputtering headline-grabbing remarks.

This is just par for the course.

      Oh sure lets worry about the rich people who may lose their toys, lets worry about those who can afford their own damn security, by all means lets bloat the budget even more by putting more paramitlitary units on the streets so the rich feel safer. That is the political thinking that has created the debt we are left with. We do not need more police we need lawmaker who make laws that work on them the same as it does on the citizens. We need laws that punish the rich and take away ill gotten gains, who allow bad mortgages to happen and punish those who manipulate the financial system. We need laws that require common sense in goverment. Thats what we need Joe, I could care less about your fancy car or you steaks, I care about being able to have the American Dream instead of heaing how the rich are scared.

      We voted today on 1/2 cent tax increase for Fire Depts. – sounds nobal and cheap – only 9.5%- right! Here in our little town for the lasst 10 years we have been run by the Libs. I can drive 1 Hr away to Norman, Oklahoma and on a 40 grand car save $900.00 just on taxes and get a better deal. The local Politicans can’t get it – we are the highest around and taxed to death. Once a month I drive to Texas to Sam’s and haul back my 3 sons and ourselves Groceries and save a fortune – no taxes.

    Police/fire are funded locally – usually through property taxes. So, Joe… if I had a mansion and a Porsche, Yes, I would be ticked if police/fire are not “johnny on the spot” when I need them. I’ve paid more. It’s the dim-controlled cities where property values have been wrecked. And, the fed should not be in the habit of bailing out poorly run cities.

    In 2002, the daughter of Joe Biden (Ashley Biden) was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer outside a Chicago bar where someone threw a bottle at the police. When police tried to arrest another person, Biden‘s daughter blocked the officer’s path and made intimidating statements.

    And while we’re at it….

    Obama: “The Police acted stupidly” is always a crowd favorate.

    The main danger that we will be in when we vote in November is if we have to go through what we have already gone through these past 3-4 years. Democrats are constantly blaming everybody but themselves for the debt and other problems. The lie when they say we want to put the police or firemen in danger, They do a service to the community for the good, What is not good is the unions that would rather bankrupt the city, state, federal government before they give up any of there power. Joe is a puppet for Obama and looking out for his job and healthcare (which is not the same as we maybe forced to take with Obamacare. Add up to all the losses they have made in investments unwanted but most of us. Big Government doesn’t know best the people do. . God Bless America.
