John Bolton’s Libya Solution — Assassinate Gadhafi

George W. Bush’s former diplomat to the UN and possible presidential contender John Bolton has a solution to the ongoing crisis in Libya: assassinate Libya’s dictator, Moammar Gadhafi.
Speaking at Republican Rep. Steve King’s Conservative Principles Conference in Des Moines, Iowa yesterday, Bolton told a crowd of 600 conservative activists: “Our military has a wonderful euphemism called ‘national command authority.‘ It’s a legitimate military target. In Libya, Muammar Gaddafi is the national command authority. I think that’s the answer right there.”
He later elaborated on what he meant. In an interview with The Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove, Bolton said, “I think he’s a legitimate target.”
Here’s Grove, reporting on his conversation with Bolton:
“I think he’s a legitimate target,” the white-mustachioed Bolton told me after his speech. “That’s what Reagan did in 1986″—when U.S. jets bombed Gaddafi’s residence in Tripoli, killing his young daughter, in response to a lethal terrorist bombing in Germany—”and that would end the regime right there. He has murdered innocent American civilians. He has never faced responsibility for it. So I don’t have any hesitation in saying that.”
…
Bolton said he supports killing Gaddafi even though great uncertainty exists about who or what might replace him, including elements of al Qaeda who reportedly have been aiding Libya’s ragtag band of anti-Gaddafi rebels.
If Libya’s dictator is in fact terminated, the fear is that a leadership vacuum could emerge in that country that Islamists may fill. But Bolton is still willing to take the risk of doing away with Gadhafi: “This is a rare case of Gaddafi on the one hand, the unknown on the other—and I’d pick the unknown.”

Here is a man with more clarity than this entire current administration. This Country needs more John Bolten’s and his clear speak.

Posted on March 27, 2011 at 12:06pmOh, you mean like they did Yitzach Rabin and Anwar Sadat?
Islamists were enraged by Sadat’s Sinai treaty with Israel.
They killed Rabin because of his attempt to resolve the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict with the Oslo Accords.
What‘s wrong with the US supporting dictators as long as they don’t try to make peace with Israel?
As soon as they try to make peace with Israel, in any substantial form, they are ASSASINATED and character assassinated by the international community…

Let’s try something else: We kill Gaddhafi and he becomes a martyr to his side, his cohorts being willing to fight with greater fervency and brutality. We feared that happening if we killed Hitler, so we never sent in a team.
Our side has no clue what it’s doing, and what might happen in any of the possible outcomes. But Obow sent us there anyway, and even the Pubs in Congress have given tacit approval with their silence.

So if it turns out we’ve made the wrong choice — Instead of getting an Al Qaeda or Muslim Brotherhood run government that will piece itself together across the Arab world to create a new Caliphate, …. we just get a descending “Waah, wah, waaaaaah.” sound effect from backstage.
BTW, I think you’re thinking of “Let’s Make a Deal”; not “Price is Right”. But the “Waah, wah, waaaaah.” that I’m imagining is definitely the one from “Price is Right”.

Posted on March 27, 2011 at 11:32amCertainly, an ultimatum can be given to Gadhafi, much like Bush gave Saddam and his sons, prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom. But whom of us here believe that The Incompetent One has the huevos to issue such a statement? Gadhafi has few friends in the world, with the possible exception of Hugo Chavez. Posted on March 27, 2011 at 11:46amThe main difference between the time of Reagan and the Obama administration is the fact that under Reagan’s watch, Quaddafi sanctioned the usage of force via terrorism against America and her own allies.
Under Obama, the force is sanctioned via the UN, and we have no directed threats against us, just against the rebels and Al Quada who have joined with them.
This is one principle of Chaos Theory, eliminate Quaddafi, and one event will cascade into the unknown as we wait to find out who will finally succeed him and actually hold onto the reigns of power while keeping themselves alive.
Then again, maybe that is what the administration wants.

Posted on March 27, 2011 at 12:09pmWhether Gaddafi is removed by his own people or by us, the result will be the same. The Muslim Brotherhood is waiting to take control of one more Arab country. The people of Libya have the right to remove their own leader anyway they wish, but we have no right to do it for them.
Our POTUS has illegally involved the American people in a war on another Sovereign Nation without prior approval of the Congress in violation of our Constitution.
When did the people of the United States vote to be subservient to the will of the United Nations?
We are supposed to be a Nation of Laws – This POTUS has exceeded his authority under those laws and put our troops in harms way.

The order was enacted in response to the post-Watergate revelations that the CIA had staged multiple attempts on the life of Cuban President Fidel Castro.
In a section of the order labeled “Restrictions on Intelligence Activities,” Ford outlawed political assassination: Section 5(g), entitled “Prohibition on Assassination,” states: “No employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassination.

Posted on March 27, 2011 at 6:16pmThe USA has been donating millions of dollars to the Republic of Georgia (see articles below), but today the Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia donated $1 million dollars to Japan relief. I have no problems with peopleor countries donating money to Japan’s relief, but the article should have stated that Georgia is donating money that it received from the USA to Japan.
I am disappointed that the USA supports Republic of Georgia at all. On August 7, 2008, Georgia’s President, Mikhail Saakashvili was attacking the Republic of South Ossetia. During the evening, Saakashvili announced a ceasefire. After everyone (women, children and other civilians) went to sleep, Saakashvili orded the attacks to resume, using illegal cluster (grad) munitions. Unlike what coalition forces are doing in Libya, Saakashvili was targeting civilian homes, schools, hospitals, and civilians attempting to leave the conflict area. Saakashvili continues to receive support from the USA. Senator John McCain supported Saakashvili’s attack from the very begining. McCain was also awarded a medal by Saakashvili. During that war, McCain was on CNN and made a statement, Today I talked to Misha and told him, “Today, we are all Georgians”.
Saakashvili should have been brought up on war crimes, but instead, received more support from the USA and other Western countries. He stated this attack during the opening of the Olympics in Japan. Two days after the Saakashvili’s attack, Russia intervened and ran the Georgian killer forces from South Ossetia, then bombed various military targets in Georgia, which were supporting the massive attack on South Ossetia. Immediately, humanitarian aid was being sent to Georgia, while South Ossetia was ignored by the international community. In Western news, it was broadcasted that Russia attacked Georgia. It was later reported by the Independent European Commission, that Georgia indeed initiated the war. If it was not for Russia’s intervention, Saakashvili would have succeded in his goal to wipe out the Ossetian population.
Georgia does have a contingency of soldiers in Afghanistan, but Saakashvili sent them there to better his chances of becoming a NATO member. In my opinion Saakashvili and McCain wanted to move us back to the Cold War era with Russia.
Saakashvili is not running a true democracy. In 2007 and 2009, there were protests in Georgia calling for Saakashvili to step down. 100′s of thousands of people participated. The protesters were beaten, gassed, and subjected to high frequency sound blasters.
Just like Gadhafi must go, so should Saakashvili.

I guess I didn’t make my point clear enough. No, getting rid of Gaddifi by either his own people or by us is NOT the same thing. That is not what I meant. What I was referring to is what his eventual removal (by any means) would mean for Libya.
I was not condoning the US doing the deed at all. I, too, do not think we should be involved in their revolution. It is a no-win situation. If Gaddafi stays in power, the Libyan people will suffer greatly. If the rebels win, al Qaeda will make make the Libyan people suffer greatly. We cannot control what happens either way. Obama should have kept his progressive nose out of it.
