Jon Stewart Agrees: Egypt and Wis. Aren‘t Alike in Any ’Fu***** Way’

On his show last night, Jon Stewart gave the ongoing Wisconsin controversy the Daily Show treatment. Per usual, he offended both sides. That’s not surprising. But what is shocking is that Jon Stewart — for a brief moment — championed a conservative viewpoint.
Sure, the segment, called “Crisis in Dairyland: Revenge of the Curds,” took shots at the governor’s emergency budget proposal that he says is necessary. But featured prominently within the tomfoolery was a repudiation of the common left-wing theory that the Wisconsin protests are akin to the unrest in Egypt. That‘s especially relevant considering Stewart’s become a satirical hero of the left.
Unequivocally, he said, Egypt and Wisconsin are not alike:
They’re not the same in any fu***** way, shape, or form. At all. At all. Not at all. This is the same as people in the Middle East overthrowing years of dictatorship? Or is that just the last story you saw on the news?
Yes, Stewart did mock Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, other Republicans, and cheeseheads throughout. But he also took swipes at the fleeing Democratic state senators, MSNBC, and Ed Schultz. The entire segment is below, but the Egypt comments begin about five minutes in:

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 11:08amIs Jon Stewart trying to change his image lately to seem less like the radical Leftist that he is? Is he doing so because he senses the change in the political winds? I remember the Anti-American, Leftist crap that has passed for humor on his show over the past decade. I can only warn conservatives not to buy his new schitck … he’s trying to save his own ass from the disgusting, immoral, and evil garbage that he’s spewed since his show first aired.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 9:58amI haven’t watched the clip yet, but it’s obvious that the uprising in Egypt and the demonstrations in Wisconsin have zero in common. The Wisconsin mess is very much like the demonstrations in Greece. The government is broke and can’t afford bloated benefits and the recipients of those benefits are having a very bad reaction. Working people in Wisconsin and around the country are already having to sacrifice and have little sympathy for public unions that are trying desperately to hang on to their power to drain state coffers. (love using ‘coffers’ in a sentence :-)

And, it needs to be said again and again — many folks in Wisconsin are there in the capital building protesting because their unions are forcing them to. Some of those wackos are out and out socialists (from Argentina??).
The Tea Party folks really are random, hard-working, taxpayers. They‘re not being bussed in by the Koch brothers and they’re not Lefty Progresso-Marxists.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 9:34amI’ve said this before: Stewart reminds me of Dave Chappelle in that he occasionally reveals he realizes the stupidity of his own hardcore audience. Stewart can be funny and is at his best when he is sticking it to the foolishness to be found on both sides of the ideological spectrum. But the problem is, partisans don’t like having a mirror held up to them.
Report Post »I am personally a bigger fan of Lewis Black who happens to be a guest on Stewart’s show from time to time. That’s usually the only time I bother to tune in. When you’re “too right and too serious” to laugh at yourself, you may be just a bit off… and not to be trusted.
I’m home sick and FOX just had a story earlier this morning where a black D rep was scolded for comparing the circus in Wisconsin to the uprising in Egypt. Call BS when you see it. Fat, greedy Americans not willing to own their own health care and pensions is comparable to people earning $60/week and being run down by camels and horses. Idiot.. the senator in question is Lena Taylor.
Vote with you remote. If Stewart doesn’t do it for you, switch over to The Food Network. Or piss and moan that everyone has to think and speak just like you and comedy is the devil’s work. Sounds like another movement that’s in the news quite a bit….

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 10:51pmProblem here is there is TRUTH to his humor.. being honest UNIONS were at one time the workers FRIEND.. they made sure things were safe and sanitary.. that CHILDREN did NOT work.. that workers worked a 40 hour work week.. for a fair wage.. also that after putting in YEARS at a company made sure that when you got older you weren’t let go just because your better years were behind you.. HOWEVER.. AGAIN the government got involved.. we have OSHA for safety (actually more safety than even the workers can put up with).. LABOR LAWS.. for fair wage and to make sure that if your fired they better have a better excuse than YOUR OLD NOW.. the FDA to make sure the products are safe.. and there is SS that the politicians keep stealing form to go with your 401K to make sure you have enough to live on providing your 401K doesn’t tank… Now the unions have SPENT all the money they were suppose to be putting away for the members to get POLITICIANS (mostly Democrats..LOL) and starting unions in other countries and now DON’T have the money for the members pensions.. they NO LONGER care about the AMERICAN worker it’s the workers of THE WORLD.. (redistribution of wealth to countries where they are trying to start up unions).. using the money from the AMERICAN workers.. REMEMBER the MORE the union member makes the MORE the union makes.. their biggest problem is that MOST of the country DOES NOT belong nor want to belong to a union.. yes they want a fair wage etc. but the GOVERNMENT already has those things covered with MIN WAGE.. so even the part time student makes the same as the part time homemaker/homeowner/parent.. that’s fair right??? One thing the government nor the unions have thought about was companies going overseas and taking the jobs when all these government agency‘s started to regulate them till they couldn’t afford to stay here so Now.. are we safer?? NO.. we are now buying products that FDA and regulations said we couldn’t MAKE here from CHINA.. just as bad as the when we brought these same bad items when they were made here.. doesn’t make ANY sense..except NOW companies are use to having to pay LOWER wages.. so either we work for less or we DON’T WORK.. AGAIN.. it is because the GOVERNMENT and the UNIONS decided to BOTH jockey for the same position.. the same rules.. the same end result.. the only ones left for the UNIONS to control ARE the GOVERNMENT jobs..the little guy is paying for them and they will soak them till the little guy calls uncle and brings in the unions..
