Jon Stewart Joins the Anti-Gingrich Chorus: ‘Republican Voters, Don‘t Do This’

Jon Stewart Joins the Anti Gingrich Chorus: Republican Voters, Dont Do This

During a segment on Thursday evening titled, “Intervention 2012,” Jon Stewart offered some unsolicited advice to Republicans across the country regarding Newt Gingrich’s recent rise in the polls.

In a nutshell, Stewart, with his trademark snark, told Republican voters who seem inclined to vote for Gingrich, “don’t do this.” First, he pointed out the former House Speaker’s meteoric rise in the polls, and showed a snippet of Gingrich saying, “odds are very high I’m going to be the nominee.”

With that premise in place, Stewart and his team then ripped on the candidate with a variety of damning clips, including one in which MSNBC host Joe Scarborough slammed Gingrich, saying, “He is not a nice human being, he is a bad person…he is a terrible person.”

On the comparison Gingrich has made of himself to Reagan, Stewart offered that “Reagan had a certain charm and gentility. Gingrich is Reagan abandoned as a child and raised by a family of caucuses.”

To finish off his attack on Gingrich, Stewart turns to a clip of Glenn Beck, during which Beck says Gingrich is the only Republican nominee he could not support.

Here is the first clip, courtesy of Comedy Central, in which Stewart begins his anti-Newt screed:

And here is the second part of the Daily Show segment, which includes Stewart’s disbelieving reference in the last 30 seconds that “Glenn Beck cannot support Newt Gingrich!”:

Sure Jon is joining in , he is an Obama fan and he wants 4 more years. He knows Newt has the best chance of unseating Obama. Duh! I can‘t see why Beck can’t see that. Beck is just is so set on having a brother in his church the White House he can’t help it I guess! If Romney gets the nomination, I am fearful it will be Obama and not Romney. I’ll vote for Romney if he gets the nomination just like I did McCain and results will be the same. Lets see McCain beats Romney in the primary, Obama beats McCain in the general, do I want Romney? NO. Because I want someone who can beat abd remove Obama!

Newt is a walking, talking campaign commercial for Barack Obama:

      ————————————————————————-
      “When Gingrich met Yasser Arafat
By Laura Rozen | The Envoy – Wed, Dec 14, 2011

GOP presidential frontrunner Newt Gingrich stirred up plenty of controversy last week when he called Palestinians an “invented people” in an interview from the campaign trail.

“I think we have an invented Palestinian people who are in fact Arabs and historically part of the Arab community and they had the chance to go many places,’ Gingrich told the Jewish Channel last week.

All of which makes the above 1993 photo of Gingrich, then House Minority Whip, embracing the late Palestinian Liberation Organization chief Yasser Arafat, published by the Huffington Post’s Sam Stein, perhaps noteworthy. ”

I don’t know if you all caught this one, but recall that Beck doesn’t like Romney either. This isn’t him beating up on the leader to help his “brother.” He’s for Bachman or Santorum. The more likely explanation is that he doesn‘t want another fake conservative installing more idiotic agencies and programs which will fail and make conservatism look like it’s to blame. This is exactly what Newt will do. The lesson of McCain that you all seem to miss is that when you abandon principles, there’s no reason for conservatives who have them to vote for you. Thus, Ron Paul has a better shot than Newt does, polls notwithstanding.

Those who say Glenn want’s Romney in for president…. It is apparent you are no longer listening to Glenn anymore. You now sound like the progressives on the left, except you are now the progressives on the RIGHT! Yes you people who support Gingrich are progressives that lie and try to trample on anyone who disagrees with you or try’s to get in your way. Glenn has ADAMANTLY supported Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann as his two choices of candidates, and REPEATEDLY has bashed Romney almost as much as Gingrich.

You refuse to know the truth about Gingrich who will only support the UN, grow American government, and continue the wars overseas while stacking up a higher debt. Well congratulations, you have all become as Stalin would say “USEFUL IDIOTS,” if you think Gingrich is the answer to our troubles.

Here is the REAL Newt Gingrich:

Piss on that, because it‘s why we’re in the condition we’re in. Failing to demand accountability, principle and character, and replacing those with corruption, immorality, and sugar coating. I wanted Cain to win the GOP nomination. When he first dropped out my first thought was to switch to Gingrich. However since Cain dropped out I have looked more deeply at all the others Candidates running. The more I learned about Gingrich the less I liked. I have concluded, not foreseeing any dramatic changes in who is running, that I want Ron Paul to win. I agree with almost all his positions. I was turned off by Paul at first, not because of any of his positions, but because of his hardcore supporters. I made the false assumption that if his followers were crazy he must be too. I have since changed my view of him. I truly believe he is the best person for the job and will get this great Nation back to where it needs to be. My distant 2nd would be Bachmann. I think she is good but not for POTUS (I would like to see her become SOS). Ron Paul 2012.

godlovinmom do some research learn some history, Ron Paul is correct on Iran.

Iran is not a threat to the US, Yeah do they hate us…you bet but can you blame them.
In 1953 at the request of the British crown we sent the CIA into Iran and staged a coup to overthrow the government. In the 80‘s we buddy’d up to Saddam Hussein and encouraged him to invade Iran. We supplied Iraq with weapons and intelligence, coincidentally Israel supplied Iran with weapons, in-tell, and direct military assistance.

In 1988 we attacked Iran with operation praying mantis why because one of our ships hit a mine that was planted by Iran during the Iraq-Iran war that was at the time was still going on.

In that same year we shot down Iranian flight 655 killing 290 people 66 were children. The US claimed it was an attacking f-14 tomcat only two nation on the planet fly them the US and Iran we sold them to Iran in the 70′s.

In the 90′s when things had a chance of getting better Clinton imposed embargoes. And to this day the US continues to harass Iran both covertly ala CIA and militarily, in other words our government tries and tries to get a war going with Iran. Iran does not want a war with us they know they can’t win, they just want us to leave them alone.
Oh and on the subject of their nuclear program the US supplied the TRR to Iran in 1967 and weapon-grade uranium fuel for the reactor. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspects this reactor.

We didn’t go to wart with North Korea when they tested theirs and we are still here. Why would we go after Iran, who are actually less crazy than NK? You people are all talk and no substance. You must be a Glenn Beck hater or even a Romney Hater. Your accusation doesn’t make any sense. If Beck was so concerned about getting a I quote “fellow church member” into the White house, he would have also nominated or supported John Huntsman. The fact is, he has already stated that he was not supporting either one. According to the latest polls, Newt will not beat Obama, but Romney has a better chance. Beck has just pointed out the progressive past of Newt. and that Romney will capture many of the libertarian vote where Newt will not. The claim that he would vote for another church member is biased. The Mormon church does not interfere with political parties. If they did, maybe they would have excommunicated the idiot from Nevada who is also a fellow church member, but a progressive one at that – Sir harry Reed.

Sad thing is I find myself thinking Jon Stewart makes more sense than Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin these days. Conservative talk radio has become just another layer of the Republican establishment, ridiculing and demonizing a real conservative (Ron Paul) while apologizing for the progressives Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. I’m not even much of a Beck fan anymore, but man is he right about Gingrich. I wish he’d take it a step further and throw Romney in there too.

How is it that the Republican party, in a tea party environment, has managed to have as its two frontrunners the two most progressive candidates in the field? Remove Romney and Gingrich from the race and I could support any of these people, although Ron Paul is my preference. Perry, Bachmann, Santorum….maybe even Huntsman….all better than Newt Romney. It’s shameful that conservative talk radio is cheerleading the progressive Newt Gingrich right now. If they spent as much energy demonizing progressive Republicans as they do attacking a real conservative like Ron Paul, maybe we would end up with a decent candidate for president. Rush and Levin treat progressives with more respect than they do authentic conservatives. That should tell you all you need to know.

It‘s sad but in this case there’s reason to agree with Stewart on this. Stewart just can’t help himself, and I believe if had actually considered the damage he could have done by keeping his piehole closed, a liberal agenda would see the GOP losing ALL credibility by throwing Gingrich out there as the nominee. Obama would turn the 2012 race into a blood bath laugher against Gingrich and expose the GOP as being filled itself with socialists.

So in my opinion Stewart “can’t keep his mouth shut” has done right wing Americans a favor. Will right wing America wake-up and send the progressive communist Gingrich into permanent retire, or elect him and give America even less reasonable a choice than the last election?

That has got to be the best analogy I have read yet…..I see what Jon did was attack the leading candidate just like is his duty as *******. If you noticed, they go after the leader everytime. Cain goes up, he is out, Perry goes up, Bachman goes up….its the same ole libtardial attack scheme. But no matter. All the turd polish in the world will make Obimo shine……You smell dead possum, we smell turd….thanks!

It’s simple. Do I agree with everything Newt proposes to help restore America? No. But then, there is at least one point on helping our country from each of the Republican candidates that I disagree with.
HOWEVER, the commonality is helping our country, whereas the current Administration is determined to destroy it.
So really, just choose who you most agree with, because in Nov. we will all agree that helping, not destroying our country is the way to go.

leibowitz would lose most of followers in seconds. the ”jon leibowitz show” does not have the ring to it that his young obamamoron anti-Israel followers would like.

Though I have seen Stewart as funny, he should welcome new material when the conservatives take over next year. Maybe he can go cry to Ted Baxter O’Reilly.

Jon: Stick to making joke and acting stupid. Conservatives don’t need Hollywood media ass clowns telling us who to vote for. Save that for the kool-aid drinkers who get their news from the Daily Show.

You are still a funny guy. That’s about it though. Sorry.

Not me. I care what that idiot Jon Stewart thinks, but Gingrich is NOT a Constitution loving guy, NOT a true small government conservative, and has far too many progressive tendencies. I submit the following as evidence:

He LOVES FDR. Pay attention, he says multiple times that he thinks he is the greatest president of the 20th century. He says FDR is his FAVORITE president of the 20th century, and that he even considers him the greatest political leader of the 20th century. He even mentions how progressive FDR was.
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bob-cehwZGM

He compares himself to Teddy Roosevelt, again with a salute to the progressive politics..
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi314LJ6uwM&feature=related

and of course his comparison of himself to Woodrow Wilson “I’m frankly a real politik Wilsonian” and he (again) pays homage to FDR as he mentions that “the 4 freedoms still work”. The third freedom is “freedom from want”, a marxist principle.
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T76lD4zV1bo&feature=related

He VERY RECENTLY (2007) stated unequivocally that the government needs to make the most effective steps possible to reduce carbon emissions in industries. Note that he argues that the argument should be about effective solutions and NOT whether it should be solved. He is part of “the debate is over” crowd…

Do you really think Stewart wouldn’t LOVE us to nominate Gingrich. For just the comedy alone it would be Christmas every day. And he’s certain Newt will lose against Obama.

He’s just taking the opportunity to have fun now, and maybe goad us into doing what he “begs” us not to do. The coalition of forces arrayed against Newt is also one of the forces that could drive voters into supproting him to stick their thumb into the establishment’s eye. I wouldn’t doubt that Stewart is playing that game.

      @ Isle
you give jonni too much credit. Libs have forever tried to skew perception of Newt by running with– he‘s an idiot’s idea of an intellectual…to no avail. jonni loves rickie. Most Republicans AND johnny cannot believe ol’ Rickets is on stage with his latest idiocy: Tebow-hugging. That wasn’t just puerile… but painfully pathetic. Perry will be an endlessly burning Christmas tree keeping an infinite number of gag gifts hot for every comedian from here to hell. He‘s W’s really really stupid brother. That’s who jonni wants for work. For someone he‘d actually like for the Office I’ll bet you $10,000 it’s Mittens in the middle.
