Jon Stewart Pans Obama’s Debt Speech With Communist Hammer and Sickle

In general, a Jon Stewart clip isn‘t complete if it doesn’t offend both the right and left. This, then, is a classic Stewart piece.
On Tuesday night, Stewart decided to tackle the president’s debt speech from Monday evening. Frances Martel over at Mediaite explains Stewart “enthusiastically brandished a hammer and sickle at the President for his calls to raise taxes on the rich, but found himself disillusioned at the rallying cry to call Congressmen and encourage them to compromise: ‘Did the President just quit?’”
Even though Stewart mocked those who think Obama has socialist tendencies, he also equally panned the president’s lackluster content, wondering why the president went on national TV to, in essence, ask people to call Congress.
“That’s your idea, call your congressman?” Stewart asked. Not happy, he compared it to him asking the president to come over and mow Stewart’s lawn.

Posted on July 27, 2011 at 10:55amJohn Stewart is BRILLIANT! A modern day Mark Twain or Groucho Marx. He probably beats up the right more than the left, but he’s not a liberal hack. His interviews are incredible. He knows how to frame a question and he knows how to give an answer. He’s not just a comedian.

Posted on July 27, 2011 at 11:51amYou clearly have never actually read Twain. While I can appreciate much about Stewart I highly doubt his work will still be around the culture even 1 decade from now. His quotes and one liners are very cheap, FUNNY but still cheap, and lack the timeless quality of Twain. Stewart does not have the timeless quality that will endure. See the background to this statement at

But I’ve been watching the Daily Show since it was hosted by Craig Kilborn (it wasn’t political in those days), and for the last 12 years it’s usually been very funny. Though, I admit, sometimes I want to throw my remote at the John Stewart’s face for some of the stupid stuff he says… I do realize it’s comedy, and he has given me many laughs.
But, back to my original point… Republicans in DC deserve every bit of comedic criticism they get! Not all of them are Bachmann’s, Paul’s, Christie’s, or Palin’s. Actually there only is Bachmann, Rand & Ron Paul, Christie and Palin… that’s it. Most Republicans stink on ice. The last real Republican was Ronald Reagan.

So he is now a moderate?

Posted on July 27, 2011 at 12:56pmhey that is wierd,
I had some comments agreeing with me under my comment above & now they are gone…
all that is left is one comment saying he is better off than 2 1/2 years ago…
Huff/Post oversee-er strikes again.
Of course the comment left IGNORES worse gas prices, worse food prices,
and friends and neighbors out of work or house plummeting prices/foreclosures.
and wait til Medicare goes bust…

I honestly have no idea what you’re on about. My point is that he’s not even a newsperson (which Stewart himself is the first to admit), but the site keeps talking about him. If I wanted to know what a comedian thinks, I’d watch his show.
I think your question would be better directer at Siedl (the author of this piece), as he’s the one praising Stewart. I just want news of him off this site, unless it’s actual news.

Posted on July 27, 2011 at 11:08amOnce in awhile (as crazy as it seems)…
even the Liberals on the Left Coast
can see things for how they are,
AND…
will openly admit it to the public.
I have a M.D. brother & a Teacher Union sister
that both voted for Obozo …
they BOTH have voters remorse–BIG TIME!
My niece–same thing.
Sometimes you just need daily visual aids…
job losses,
lost homes,
store food prices,
gas prices,
dollar dropping,
$4.8+ Billion in JUST interest adding to debt EVERY DAY,
(= $1.75TRILLION add per year)
AND
Obozo coming on TV to BLAME EVERYONE ELSE BUT HIMSELF…
(like he never heard of “the buck stops here”)
while ABDICATING his role in favor of–
golfing,
playing hoops,
traveling on vacations (er I mean) government business,
(while fundraising on out dime),
WHILE TELLING US:
‘WE are improving’ / ‘turned the corner’
from our financial woes….
or “my stimulus plan has put people back to work”
to FINALLY REALIZE…
Obozo is either the dumbest man on earth…
or
he is deliberately ignoring facts.
Are YOU, friends or family…

Posted on July 27, 2011 at 11:25amWhat Im on about is unfortunately there are people who view him as actual news, case in point here is a post from above:
“John Stewart is BRILLIANT! A modern day Mark Twain or Groucho Marx. He probably beats up the right more than the left, but he’s not a liberal hack. His interviews are incredible. He knows how to frame a question and he knows how to give an answer. He’s not just a comedian.”.

Not that it matters much, but both myself and my parents are better off now than 2 1/2 years ago. I’ve obtained a job and managed to bank enough money to live for 6 months in case I ever become unemployed… and that’s including saving 10% of everything I make for retirement. My parents have retired, and my father is now on Medicare, dropping his monthly premium by almost $1000. They lost much more when the stock market crashed a decade ago than they have in the last 2 1/2 years. They even managed to pay off their mortgage before retiring.
About the only thing they don’t like is their house is worth about 30% less than they paid for it (in 2005). But again, most of that happened before Obama took office.
We might be the exception, but life has actually improved for us.

Posted on July 27, 2011 at 1:49pm@Locked. Yes it does matter so much. If a self absorbed comedian was all he was, I would think that us conservatives salivating over every opposing view point he spouts off was just irritating. Unfortunately if you talk to twenty-somethings(don’t know if you are one or not), they truly think this guy is a newscaster. Reports that a MAJORITY of the age demographic 18-33 say they get most of their news from John Stewart. They say it with a straight face. This is dangerous and should be called out. Just like when my friends say I am ‘getting my news’ from Glenn, I have to explain the role of a news program and a journalist to a commentator or comedian. Glen is a commentator. If I happen to agree with him and you happen to agree with JS, fine…but to say that most of the people watching him don‘t think they are watching ’news’, is incorrect. That is why it is important to call him out on the Blaze.

Posted on July 27, 2011 at 2:59pmYou pegged it, LOCKED. There are many of us who have flourished under President Obama. The 18-28y.o.s are not stupid. The right wishes they were, but knows they’re not, thus the voter suppression laws. The younger voters know what Stewart and Colbert do, it appears better than many in here.
