Jon Stewart Takes on Those Who Can’t Distinguish Between Racists & Tea Partiers, Bigots & Williams, Sanchez

“If we amplify everything, we hear nothing. There are terrorists and racists and Stalinists and Theocrats. But those are titles that must be earned. You must have the resume. Not being able to distinguish between real racists and Tea Partiers or real bigots and Juan Williams or Rick Sanchez is an insult, not only to those people, but to the racists themselves who have put in the exhausting effort it takes to hate.”

Okay. I am now convinced that Tuesday I am going to vote a straight democrat ticket. They are such good folk that care about everyone and just want peace and love. I don’t think so!!! I was under the impression that the American people were begining to wake up but a few carefully chosen words from a comic has given you a warm fuzzy feeling. Why don’t all of you new Stewart fans get together smoke a bowl and sing kumbaya. The collapse is coming to them Tuesday and these people want to get out of the way and begin to appear moderate.Obama even wants to start working with the republicans. They should have done this two years ago if they were sincere. I have been labeled as a hater, racists, gap toothed hillbilly and everything else by these people and now that we have a chance to turn this juggernaut around people will get soft about the spine and begin to think about what program they might lose and decide instead to drink the socialist kool-aid.From reading the posts on this site many of you have typed off at the mouth since the inception about patriotism and standing together to restore honor, faith, hope and charity and now your true colors begin to show through. Be a compromiser. The communists and socialists will thank you for it and I am sure when they take over again they will be more than happy to return the favor.

It was a good rally but if your crtizing this rally you just dont get it, people are tired that the elected officials are calling names and accusations, instead of coming together for the better of all people. We need to come together as a people and redo the american government is broken and needs overhauled by the people not the politicians.

(Take 2) Wow! Being an 8/28 alumni I truly expected this to be the greates crap on Earth. And to my surprise my Faith and Hope have been re-affirmed. This rally left me with the same desire Beck left me the first the time I heard him – the desire to Care. Which ever the means which can awaken this in us, I truly don’t care. I‘m also an avid watcher of Steward’s and I take his humor for what it is. And unfortunately for those who don‘t keep up with the today’s events, really won’t understand the complexity and refreshed looked he provides to searching within you for the Thruth. Everyone tells us we are dumb, but we know best for ourselves. All we needed was a bit of guidance and each day there’s more of evidence of Sanity, Faith, Hope, and Charity surrounding us – just look around you and at yourselves.

Stewart is becoming an expert as saying perfectly reasonable things while remaining ideologically far Left of center.

It costs him nothing to call out the ridiculousness of Leftists who deride Tea Partiers as racist, because everyone with a functional brain knows that what he is saying is true. He can do this with humor, and not change his far Left ideology one iota. He can hat-tip Tea Partiers and make “regular” folk say, “Yeah, damn right”, while at the same time, holding that Obama‘s radical takeover of the health care system didn’t go far enough quickly enough.

I think Stewart is a Leftist to watch in the future. He could be formidable.

They’re just opportunistic entrepreneurs who know which people will buy just about anything and they laugh all the way to the bank and back while doing it. The easiest way to make money today from the useful idiots is to bash anything and everything non Muslim and American, and they do it.

It does not take an effort to hate just a will to see the truth and not accept it. It is not effort as easy as decision making. Hate is an easier word to say than love because hate is pushed upon us everyday. From television satires to the news to movies to just over heard or self said or listened to conversation. Jon Stewart should know all about how easy it really is to hate someone. He hates anyone who sees him as an invalid point or moronic incoherent turd. From being an MTV failure to a comedy central failure he will only ever know how it feels to be what 100th best at best?

Not sure why the comments are criticizing him – what he is saying is that false labels should not be applied, such as calling Tea Partiers racists or Juan Williams a bigot, since then we can’t see the real racists or real bigots. Basically he is saying that Tea Partiers are not necessarily racists (there are racists in the fringes of both sies, left and right – and not in only one direction) and Juan Williams is definitely not a bigot.

Sharon, his goal didn’t seem to put out some policy solutions or to change the actual legislation of our government. He seemed to be trying to change the discourse of reaching those solutions. That we don‘t take other people’s ideas and not only demonize them and brand the person suggesting it as “un-American“ but we instead have a ”sane” how we can all agree to a solution between what one person wants and another, without making people “fear” the other person, or their ideas.

Wrong. The solution offered was to stop listening to pundits who focus on the wrong stuff and make false claims–like all tea party goers are racist, or the President is a Muslim Communist, etc. They whole point was to come and stand up against the crazies who claim the end of times rather than simply recognizing hard times and offering solutions. You need to make people reasonable before you can ask for reasonable solutions. Jon Stewart has been saying for a decade now that the sharp political lines and ideological hatred engendered by pundits on the fringe right and left (Beck, Limbaugh, Maddow, Olbermann) is BAD FOR AMERICA. He asked people to stand with him and make that point with their presence, and they showed up in droves–bigger crowds than Beck could ever mobilize.

Feigning intelligence . . . he’s doing a damn good job. Stay vigilant people; remember the hatred Stewart and Colbert are famous for. Moderation is not consistent with their shtick . . . That all of a sudden, in the face of major defeat they move toward the center to maintain favor . . . it is a self serving ploy.

Consider for a moment what Stewart’s dialogue would have consisted of had Obama liberals been able to keep their deceptions intact through this Fall’s election. This event would have been a brutal unyielding attack on the Tea Party and conservatives. Liberals are in a position of retreat at the moment; and in that, they strategize to live to fight another day, as they always have.

Understand those of us that know, that have lived it all before, we have been extending an olive branch to liberals for a long time, decades (generations) now only to be whipped with it after they realize they can’t smoke the leaves. Remember, there is no compromising with modern liberalism . . . And it was they they that told us that, in their words, their actions; they want it all. We tried compromise; historically, compromise is the theme of the GOP . . . the great misunderstanding of liberalism and what it blindly seeks.

He’s simply saying, tone down the rhetoric, not only listen to what’s being said, ‘logically listen,’ & stop all the name calling for the sake of name calling & apply labels like bigot & rascist only where truly deserved. What he said applies to progressives, liberals, conservatives, democrats, republicans, whites, blacks & latinos alike. I only watched the beginning of this rally & didn’t hear anything else Jon said besides this clip or anything Colbert said. If it’s available on line I will surely listen to it.

As far as the rally is concerned, I simply saw good-sized crowd having a real nice time on a fall day. And if they learn something from it, so much the better.

i truly think stewart is correct. i disagree with him on tons of things, but he’s real good at saying “wait a sec let’s just tone this down and look at it for a sec”

you know he‘s not up MSM’s butt when they are going nuts calling him crazy and a loon

As usual, when i agree with a progressive, on any topic, I wonder ,”Now, what is he up to?” i ask this question of Jon Stewart,”Whassup, widat?” My first reaction is that he’s actually had a revelation, maybe it was Bill O’reilly treating him with respect, and good humour. Like a sheltered child who sees a new world, once he steps out into it, and embraces truth he was not aware of.
It‘s probably not that he’s gone to the right, but perhaps he sees how petty and dishonest the left has become. Then again he could be a oppoortunist and is only serving himself…Oh hell I’m probably full of crap.

Well said, John Stewart. There are so many left-wingers who cannot accept the truth and only spout off what they’ve been told by MSNBC. I really hope this statement wakes up a few of the drones.

Obama is now burning books like the Nazis did.

This comment does not necessarily reflect the views of Glenn Beck, The Blaze, theblaze.com, Fox News or anyone else for that matter. The FAT CLOWN ANCHOR at MSNBC can eat balls.

I‘m glad I don’t look to a ******* left wing comedian for guidance. Bring out the clowns the sheep are waiting!

The revolutionary left failed to topple the Republic and destroy its patriots. Stewart fears being identified with those who persecuted, but failed to destroy, Obama’s “enemies.”

      Amen.

I think it is important for people to look at what each person does in each seperate instance as well as their trends.

Congradulate/let them know when they are right or are on the same page as you, and question boldly when they are wrong or when they stand on a different page from you.

Jon seems to lean left, but I have always seen some sense of rationalism from time to time.

I noticed lots of hateful signs at this so-called rally. This was a comedy show, not a meaningful rally like the 8/28 rally was.

Was at both the first 9/12 tea parrty rally and and at the WONDERFUL Restoring Honor Event. Happened to be on the mall yesterday as this rally was dispersing. What a difference! MUCH smaller group but sadly, more than you would hope to show up for such a thing as this. It was a very young – mostly 20 – 30 s and also – not that it really matters – a very white crowd… One person had a t- shirt that said “Deadheads for Obama” on and that pretty much perfectly summed up the crowd. Very sad and uninspired caustic looking crowd.
