Jordan Moves to Ban the Muslim Brotherhood

As the Muslim Brotherhood is solidifying its power in Egypt, Jordan is taking steps to disqualify the movement from even existing as a political party.

In a Lower House session of Parliament, 46 of the 83 Jordanian lawmakers voted yesterday to add an item to how the country defines political parties, saying they cannot be established on a “religious basis.”

Significantly, by voting to ban parties on a “religious basis” Jordan has preempted the “name change” the Muslim Brotherhood often performs when complications with its name arise.  In Egypt, a wing of the Muslim Brotherhood became the “Freedom and Justice Party” after the revolution, while in Gaza, the offshoot slowly became Hamas.

Jordan is one of the more pro-Western countries in the Middle East.  The country’s queen is a staunch supporter of women’s rights, and even worked at Apple before she took the throne.

Islamists are, however, objecting to the measure.  Not only would it disqualify them from the current elections, but all elections thereafter, indefinitely.

“This is only the latest in a series of measures by deputies to limit the influence of political parties and any dissenting views in parliament and political life in general,” Zaki Bani Rsheid, head of the IAF’s politibureau, said.

“We believe all Jordanian citizens – not only Islamists – should have the right to form a political party without conditions,” he added.

But Jordan‘s Jordan’s King Abdullah II maintains that the country’s election laws are critical to stability and reform, and remains firm in his support for the measure.

    So basically Obama has just gave Hamas 1.5 Billion American tax dollars, who is part of the Muslim Brotherhood org- WOW! Why does the Media pretend Obama isn’t in bed with these Anti-Women rights SOA jihadists, or they pretend Muslim Bro org are normal and decent? .

      Yes ..he did just give them 1.5 billion..but lets not forget the bailouts and TARP where 700 billion was given to Sharia Compliant Banks who give 2.5% of all investments and 7% for breaking one Sharia Law to organizations funding terorrism.. so what’s 1.5 billion to the Muslim Brotherhood who is now running what used to be our country.and what about the 338.3 billion spent on welfare and imprisonment for illegals each year? Hey…we might now be called..as Obama said..the greatest Islamic nation in the world..

      Please watch Glenn’s Rumors of War III. Night before and Last Night Glenn’s show broke it all down. The MB is in our government and making laws NOW. Also, if it were not for Ted Nugent making Obama mad and sending The Secret Service to investigate Ted, I would not have known Ted was forced to kill all of his PORK (pigs) and other farmers are being forced into killing their pigs. Does this have anything to do with Muslims not allowing pork? I don’t know, but it sounds really wierd.

They might better not because us nice people are going to really show anger. That man is not eligible to be in our White House, I have no doubt. This has got to stop.

      I heard someone preaching on Bible prophecy and the end time and he said that when the anti-Christ attacks Israel the historic areas that are now part of Jordon will be a safe haven for them. Maybe the relative sanity in Jordon will hold thanks to the wisdom of this monarch.

      Good point. Unlike the U.S., Jordan is still protected under the Genesis 12:3 clause “I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you.”
      With the take over of Egypt, Jordan is now the last non-beligerent neighbor Israel has. The bible suggests that Jordan (the refuge in Edom) will remain so until the end.
      “He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many [countries] shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon.” Daniel 11:41
      These land are in present day Jordan.

      “Who [is] this who comes from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This [One who is] glorious in His apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His strength?–”I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” Isaiah 63.
      This Isaiah passage speaks of Jesus second appearing when He arrives at the refuge in Edom and marches through the valley of Jezreel on His way to Jerusalem.

    In 1970/71 when the PLO (Arafat et al) were in Jordan, his father, King Hussein, went to war with the PLO and kicked them out of Jordan.

    Jordan has been one of our best allies in the Middle East. May he be as successful against the Muslim Brotherhood as his father was against the PLO.
