A U.S.-based Egyptian journalist has made a shocking claim that could further undermine claims that the Egyptian revolution is the ultimate example of a peaceful and democratic revolution. Mona Eltahawy — who has appeared on channels such as CNN, has written for the Washington Post, and isa former Mid East correspondent for Reuters — took to Twitter to describe a graphic account of being captured, detained, and sexually assaulted within the last 24 hours.
According to her Twitter account, she was surrounded by Egyptian police who then grabbed her breasts and her genital area:
HuffPo sums up her ordeal:
She reported that she had been been detained for 12 hours by the interior ministry and military intelligence, during which time she was sexually assaulted by five or six men. “5 or 6 surrounded me, groped and prodded my breasts, grabbed my genital area and I lost count how many hands tried to get into my trousers,” she tweeted.
She spent hours blindfolded before finally being released with an apology from military intelligence but no explanation for why she was detained.
In addition, she said that both her arms had been broken as a result of the incident, and tweeted a picture of them in casts:
A U.S. embassy representative in Cairo told the Guardian in London that the reports of the incident were “very concerning” and that “US embassy consulate officers are engaging Egyptian authorities.”
Eltahawy’s ordeal brings back memories of another graphic, and violent, sexual assault on a journalist undertaken by an Egyptian mob earlier this year. Then, the victim was CBS correspondent Lara Logan. She was singled out, her clothes ripped off, and described being “raped” by her attackers’ hands.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 1:02pmEvery time I see a muslim woman in America, I privately mourn her enslavement, but challenging their emprisoned state is likely to have them defending their abusers, pretending that they are the enlightened ones, while we, who mourn their loss of humanity are the oppressors for wishing better, freer, more equal lives for them.
Muslim Woman, You are not property, you are not slaves, you are not less worthy. Throw off the chains of slavery that this poisoned system has in store for you…Be free. God loves you.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 2:01pmIts a sad thing she was sexually assaulted but Im not sure i really feel that sorry for her since she knew she was going into a muslim country that treats women like animals, it was her choice, its not as if she was over there under mandate or that she had to take this job. Secondly the media like her reports only what the left wants to portray how great this revolution is and how the Muslim botherhood are peaceful and different than other muslims meanwhile her same ilk will spend their whole career looking for stories to trash America‘s military or how America is nothing more than an Imperialistic regime seeking to further expand it’s power and control. If she were reporting on how the mu-slims this entire time during the “Arab Spring” have been attacking christian churches in Egypt before and after, burning them and bombing them and the many other attrocities that only point to one thing that the Muslim religion is evil at it’s core, then maybe we would have some sympathy for her.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 3:13pmUnfortunately, there are groups of people in America that think that we are the rapist. They think that Isreal is doing this to Muslims. I often wonder if the leftist in this country who protest for Palestine and other Arab countries, really know what they are protesting for? What if Sharia law was here in the USA? What if those very same liberals would protest against the USA under Sharia? If this country was under Sharia Law, Gloria Allred would be stoned to death, homosexuals would be hanged, people who did not convert to Islam would be beheaded. All you have to do for proof of this is to look to Iran and Yemen. Yet it is Isreal and America that is the problem with the world. I fear for this country! All I know, we all have to prepare for the final crusade that is coming. Prepare your families, educate them to the true nature of Islam that is being taught. Women, celebrate your freedoms that you have now, if Islam is allowed to rule the land, you will never see freedom again.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 3:37pmThe more I learn about Islam, and I’ve learned more than enough at this point, whenever I see a Muslim, man or woman, I pity them, and question if they are sane, and not a cowXrd, why they remain a Muslim. They are no different than the abused spouse who refuses to leave their abuser. Add to the fact that they are wasting their entire earthly life, they are also doXmed in the next life having followed the religion of SXtan on earth. What else but pity could one feel for such pathetic creatures?

Posted on November 25, 2011 at 7:26amI’ve only had problems with one muslim woman. Most, I smile at and they smile back (I don’t know any personally, I’m speaking of meeting them in public). I met one woman at the grocery store once that if I read eyes right, she’d just as soon stabbed me as looked at me any longer. I was wearing a cute tank top and capri’s, and she was in the full garb, only face showing. she looked me all the way down, then all the way up and shot daggers through her eyes at me. Some are non-practicing Muslims or those who escaped. My PCM is a muslim woman, and shared with me that her father abused her, that’s why she left her home country to come to America.

Posted on November 25, 2011 at 12:17pmThe unteachable liberal idiots..still clinging to their romanticized notion of a peaceful “peoples’” revolution in Egypt. Typical liberals who believe all cultures are neutral and on equal standing while ignoring reality. Islam sees western women as loose and easy. It sees all women as property. This is why this continues to happen. This is why rapes on Nordic women have spiked in Nordic countries where they’re committed by muslim immigrant men. Utterly unteachable..I cannot understand how adherence to an ideology can blind these supposedly educated cretins to the point of risking physical harm to themselves and they still won’t learn from the experience. Utter idiots.

Posted on November 24, 2011 at 1:00pmI know that not everyone in the world is bad. BUT the middle east, for the most part, is a third world country with archaic and brutal laws. Laws that would send this country into civil war if we acted in the same manner. The bad people are not radical. There are believers in their faith and traditions. The minute we recognize that the quicker we will admit to the problems we will face.
We, as a country, are hypocrites! We espouse and demand our rights as human beings yet we do business with countries that hold NONE of our values, and in the process support those countries laws and practices. I applaud the bravery of people like Mona, but common sense needs to over-ride bravery! There is NO story in the middle east that is worth the price you paid Mona… They do NOT deserve our support or our pity. We as a country fought and died for our rights. Sometimes brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor.. I say we sit back and let them do the same!
