Judge Orders Release of ‘Inflammatory’ Casey Anthony Jailhouse Video

Judge Orders Release of Inflammatory Casey Anthony Jailhouse Video

It’s been more than two months since Casey Anthony (known as “tot mom” by CNN’s Nancy Grace) exited a Florida jailhouse after being cleared of charges related to her daughter’s death.

Now, a newly-released jailhouse video is, once again, bringing the case back into the limelight. On Friday, Orange County (Florida) Superior Court Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr. ordered the release of a 2008 video that purportedly showcases Anthony’s response after learning that law enforcement officials had discovered a human body (the remains later turned out to be those of her missing daughter, Caylee).

CNN has more about the decision to release the video:

“The reason for sealing (the video) — Ms. Anthony’s right to a fair trial — is no longer applicable because the trial has been completed and she has been acquitted of all charges other than lying to law enforcement officers,” wrote Perry, before ordering the state attorney’s office to release the video.

Because her actions in the clip may have hurt her in court, a judge had previously ruled that the footage could not be released.

The video was captured in the “waiting area of the medical facility” at a county jail. At this time, Caylee hadn’t been seen for six months in public and investigators had been actively searching for her.

The Los Angeles Times has more about the footage:

The video shows Anthony rocking a bit in her chair, and then hunching over. Later, Anthony is seen talking to her attorney.

The quality of the video — taken in a waiting area near the jail’s medical facility — is poor. It’s grainy. It does not contain audio. And it‘s shot from so far away that it’s difficult to detect any facial reactions. Anthony can be seen breathing heavily at one point, and she bends forward several times.

It’s important to note that the news, which she appears to be watching in the clip, purportedly doesn’t mention any names — it simply reports that a body had been found. Some are asking why Anthony appeared so nervous if she didn’t know her daughter was dead in the first place (grief, of course, or worry over the prospects that this could, indeed, be her missing daughter, may be a viable explanation).

Below, watch the first part of the video:

And here’s the second part:

Below, CNN explains what’s happening in the footage:

In the end, the case is over and Anthony was found not guilty of murder. While the clip doesn’t prove anything definitively, it does raise some questions among those who remain skeptical about her innocence.

I saw, and continue to see a sick woman who gave birth to a baby that became inconvenient for her.
I have no doubt that she was knocking Caylee out with chloroform and keeping her in the trunk of her car while she partied. Then, one night, oops, Caylee was dead.

This is beyond mere “neglect” this is wanton “ENDANGEMENT” and MANSLAUGHTER. PERIOD.

The jury was from Tampa/St.Pete which is a LIBERAL enclave, so it was filled with anti-death-penalty activists. (Did you know there are training videos on how they can get onto a jury and hide their feelings on the death penalty?)

The D.A. went for a murder conviction – probably should have been a manslaughter charge, imho. He was also outclassed by the defense, I felt, by watching them on TV. I am glad he retired.

I am appalled at the defense’s actions, especially celebrating with champagne ACROSS THE STREET from the courthouse! An innocent child is DEAD, and you are celebrating? Sick.

WOW! TWO 6 minute videos of Casey Anthony in a chair! That is DEFINITELY a woman in a chair. I’ve seen a woman sit in a chair before, that that is exactly how I remember it! I am shocked at her b ehavior in the chair- sitting, sometimes moving her arms or hands. This is just unbelievable video. I heard that they have a video of Casey Anthony brushing her teeth and it clearly shows her arm moving back and forth, back and forth. Then her head lowers toward a sink and when she gets back up, she WIPES HER MOUTH with her HAND and appears to rinse the hand off. These sorts of video recordings show just how people like that are.

@ kennyg933 – You hit the mark with the first shot, but I couldn’t even tell if it truly was a woman in the video. I love all these people that want to try the case in the media instead of the court. Unbelievable. I wasn‘t there in the court room I didn’t hear what was said, and I don’t believe the media, even the Blaze.

What is mind numbing is the fact that all potential jurists are waiting for the CSI DNA conclusive results…It’s the TV arm chair jurists that are now being called to duty…

Why would she lie to the police? Her daughter is in heaven awaiting the arrival of her mother. I know God will judge the mother fairly and her daughter will accept God’s judgement with a righteous heart.

Ok, seriously. Not only do we have a woman, well we think it’s a woman, sitting in a chair and then talking to someone, but we also have all of you being media jurists AND we now know that some of you can even read the minds of the people that were the actual jurists!!! WOW!! Now, who could POSSIBLY go against that!!

And I LOVE the fact that you all want to be Christiany and righteous and talk about her not going to heaven and all……AND YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HER! Ya know, I could see judging someone that claimed to be a prophet or even a preacher on what they said, but to judge someone you’ve never even seen face to face, let alone talked to about whether they are going to heaven or not, now THAT is simply AMAZING!!!! and God Bless all of you………….

My theory was always that she went to dope the child up or knock her out, for her routine night out and returned to her being unresponsive. Hence the huge cover up from that point on. She did not intend to kill her, but did so from massive neglect. The video shows a person reacting to the body being found, where up to this point, it was believed she was in clear with her story and cover up. With the body found, she knew instantly her fabricated lie was unraveling.

      Onion,
I too subscribe to the theory of accidental overdose. It just makes sense. But, she was found not guilty by a jury. She just plain got away with it. Now, you watch, the Feds will make it their business not to railroad her, just like they have others who have beat state raps. Double jeopardy be damned. And, if you say you don’t care, what would you say if you or one of your relatives were Fed targets. It can happen to you too.
But, you are right on target with your theory.

A theory is a theory is a theory. It is not evidence. And we are blessed to live in a country where theories are not treated as evidence and people accused of capital crimes cannot be convicted just because someone with too much time on his or her hands can imagine scenarios that might have happened. It’s over, gang. Move on. Nothing to see here.

It should have been allowed in, especially given the fact that the defense claims she drowned and according to the story, she already KNEW she was dead. Inflammatory? NO. It would have given this dingbat jury a clue. Those ding dongs decided they didn’t like George and ignored everything else because they expected CSI evidence in the real world. No DNA? Of course, when you leave your child in the woods to decompose and go through a hurricane in humid sweltering Florida heat, there will be NO chance you will find a cause of death other than the obvious that it happened and SOMEONE tried to cover it up.

Her physical movement indicate she may be bipolar, rocking back and forth is common with most with bipolar disorder when they are going through a manic phase or psychotic episode after they have experienced a emotional event either by actions of their own or by some one else. Anything can set that off even getting dumped by a boyfriend , fired from a job, or acting out violently or involved in a act that is not normal. There is no sound to this video so I can’t hear if she is making weasing noises or strange sounds as should rocks in her chair the noises are also very common and creepy if you have ever been around some one with bipolar disorder, I have and the first thing you want to do is run.

@HeyJim55 — I am bi-polar as are many of my friends and associates; and yes while that is one of the signs when someone is in the extremes of the manic phase, it is not always true. There can be many other reasons to her acting in this manner — shock, stress, mental anguish and more.

And I will say this as well for the others out there who may wish to slam my comments into the ground, I am a Christian Chaplain who specialized in Crisis intervention and prevention before finding out I had bi-polar disorder. I have always believed that the baby died accidentally and more than likely she would have been prosecuted for child endangerment or neglect. and her father being a policeman..they all knew the implications. I believe this because of the emergency phone call trying to reach her parents. I believe she reacted in a defensive self protecting way trying to evade trouble with the law. I don’t believe she murdered her child, and I think that is why her family protected her. I once saw a man being prosecuted because the seat belt was frayed in his car in which his father was killed in an accident. Gotta feed those attornies ya know. I wish everyone didn’t hate this girl. Well, yeah, except “not guilty” and “innocent’ have a biconditional relationship–if you are “not guilty,” then you must, deductively and by definition be innocent. For innocence is defined as the absence of guilt, and guilt the absence of innocence–you are either one or the other, and if not one, then the other, you can’t be neither with regards to any act.

It is a fallacy to conclude on the basis of one anecdotal observation, that because in one instance a man who many historians and popular assert is guilty of various sundry crimes was never convicted despite being prosecuted in court(s), all people who go before courts and are guilty will not be convicted. Aside from the fact that that’s obviously not true, Jesse James and Casey Anthony have virtually nothing in common and the reasons why each verdict was given were unique and independent to each situation.

Okay I have seen the video and here is what I am seeing:

    A. The news of a body being found results in a visible and dramatic reaction.
    B. There is shock and denial in her body language (what of it that can be clearly observed in the video)

However, since there is no audio of the event along with the fact of the video being fairly grainy, I cannot in all honesty make a determination to her reaction being real, faked, or anything else. There are just too many unknown variables to make a judgment call with honest intentions in the determination.
