Justice Scalia Addresses Congressional Meeting Organized by Tea Party Caucus

WASHINGTON (AP) — Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says members of Congress need to get themselves a copy of the Federalist Papers — and make sure they read it.

According to attendees, Scalia adopted a professorial, occasionally playful tone on Monday while addressing members of Congress and staff behind closed doors at an event organized by GOP Rep. Michelle Bachmann and the Tea Party Caucus.

Scalia drew criticism ahead of the event for attending what was perceived as a partisan gathering. However, members of both parties say the event had more in common with a law school seminar than a pep rally.

Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois, who attended, says Scalia implored lawmakers to study their role. She says he also said he does not view the Constitution as a living document.

Maybe Scalia should consider reading the constitution. His rulings are as politically biased as those of Sotomayer and Kagen. None of these degenerates has a modicum of integrity.

Don’t forget this people, Obama has GOT TO BE DEFEATED IN 2012 if for no other reason (and I know, there are dozens) than that he MUST BE STOPPED from ever having the chance to make another appointment to the Supreme Court.

Why are people not interested in saving America using the readily available, logical method of making Obama prove his eligibility? Would the anti-birthers, conservatives included, rather wait two years and see Obama win again in a bogus election, or unite and force the issue, with the available overwhelming evidence, to remove Obama, his Czars and enablers from power, effective immediately once this issue comes to a head? No matter how long the action actually takes, the regime will be rendered powerless as soon as this issue is investigated by Congress and forced into Fox News and the rest of the main stream media. Why not undo the damage already done, make the criminals pay for their crimes, and set the Democrat/Progressive movement back at least 50 years?

Nah, Amending the Constitution is “hard”. “Regulation” and Executive Order” is much simpler, and can’t be touched by Congress! All progressives need to do is send Barry a note:
      “Could you regulate this?
      Check () yes () no.

Attending an event hosted by anyone affliated with the Tea Party movement might be deemed inappropriate, however, the fact the session was deemed ‘nonpolitical’ does give Justice Scalia the right to be there. His lecture was proper. It was educational. It was just what our legislators needed.

Only in America can members of Congress and a sitting Supreme Court Justice be critisized for meeting to read and discuss the Consitution. As predicted, the tanker press treated it as a violent, hate filled, harmful, “behind closed doors” conspiracy. All Congressional lawyers should be given a pop quiz on their recollection of the Costitution (the actual Constitution, not their law school learned interpretations). Most would fail, miserably.

You don’t understand, the memorial service speech in Tucson should be looked upon as the unannounced (for obvious reasons) official beginning of his campaign for reelection and the Fate of the Nation speech will be the next campaign speech for reelection. Listen to it and ask yourself, “Is this really the State of the Nation? Or, what he plans to do if the republicans will just work with him.

I caught about 3 minutes of Maddow’s show tonight – she was talking about this “closed door” meeting with Justice Scalia and imagining all sorts of wild topics they could be discusing, everytime ending with “we just don’t know” -and then she’d imagine something else, again concluding that “we just don’t know”…

There’s a name for what she was doing, it’s called “making stuff up” – and it isn’t news, and it isn’t journalisim.

She just couldn’t handle that Justice Scalia and the Tea Party Caucus had a closed door meeting – inconceivable! Do the Democrats ever have closed-door meetings?

She imagined a position on the constitutionality of ObamCare, imagined Justice Scalia spoke about the possibly upcoming case, then she imagined he briefed them on how to structure their argument to emerge victorious… That’s a lot of imagining for one girl, and it’s all based on her low regard for non-Democrats and the fact that the doors were closed.

Somehow, I don‘t think Dem’s are really interested in learning about their limited role in government, especially from Justice Scalia…

Antonin Scalia is…the rock star? of the justice system. He believes in The Constitution and We The People. He‘s one of those guys who isn’t concerned with hurting your feelings. I picture him saying, “Frankly, my dear, your feelings are not part of The Constitution.” ( For you young people, that was a reference to “Gone With the Wind’). Personally, I don’t want him to take in my feelings. I want him to look at the Constitution and say yea or nay, strictly by what it says.

Anti federalists were very much opposed to a strong government too, just like modern day conservatives. Just a thought.

This is a wonderful thing to hold a meeting like this, everything helps!

The big issue right now is that while the Democrats are surely going to be a united force in the 2012 presidential race to reelect Bama so he can finish destroying the country the Republicans/Tea Party are too divided and not very organized. We need to work fervently to band together, tirelessly spread the word about the danger these Socialists pose for our future and agree on putting our full support behind the right presidential candidate, there are too many RINO’s talking about running and some conservatives that still have some weak points. May I suggest that we rally behind Dr. Ron Paul to run again. He has not announced it yet but he is considering to run. Would you give his office a phone call, email him, or send a letter to persuade him to run. Dr. Ron Paul is the only one qualified to run in 2012 and should have our full support!

You can’t understand the Constitution properly apart from the principles of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence is our charter. It spells out the source of authority in America: the laws of nature and of nature’s God, through the people, to the individual states, through the Constitution, to the Federal Government. Notice who is LAST on the list of authorities.

Along with the Federalist Papers, pick up a copy of the Declaration of Independence. They sell them at gift shops all over the capital.

Another historically challenged tea-******. The Declaration of Independance makes no mention of the Constitution, nor is it a source of law. The COnstitution was drafted years after the end of the Revolution and the author of teh Declaration, Jefferson, wanted nothing to do with the Constitution.

Again, the tea-baggers need to learn basic history and civics before they comment on Constitutional law.
