Justin Timberlake Keeps His Word, Attends Marine Corps Ball

Remember the spate of military service members inviting Hollywood celebrities to be their dates to various balls and galas?

It started in July when Sgt. Scott Moore extended a YouTube invitation to actress Mila Kunis to attend a Marine Corps. ball with him. Days later, Cpl. Kelly De Santis upped the stakes with her own invitation to Justin Timberlake. Even Betty White scored an invite, though the former “Golden Girls” star had to turn it down.

Kunis and Timberlake both accepted their invites however, and on Saturday night Timberlake made good on his promise to attend the ball, held in Richmond, Va. (Kunis’s date is scheduled for next weekend.)

A ball attendee snapped this photo of Timberlake, whom the wife of a Marine attending the event said posed for photographs and seemed like a normal guy, according to local CBS affiliate WTVR-TV.

A day before the event, De Santis told Access Hollywood in an interview she was excited for her date — and ready for a dance-off.

“My friends keep saying, ‘Dance-off!’ They know about my skills,” she said. “I honestly don’t think he’ll be able to keep up with my group of people… I don’t think he’ll be able to keep up with us.”

As a Dad whose daughter loved N’Sync and Justin I never paid too much attention to him. But after seeing him act and hosting the Espy’s and doing SNL I really like this guy. Plus he helps Wounded Warriors. Anyone who puts him down is a jag.

let’s not be harsh to JT. this was a gesture of kindness toward our troops…not blazers. he may be under pressure for doing what he believes is right, not left. so let him be a normal guy doing something good…maybe Hollywood will slowly become less anti American in the future.

I agree Racer1488! Just has become a very good role model and upstanding young man. It is refreshing to see someone actually care about people these days and keep his word. As for those who want to keep bringing up things he did in the past … there’s a reason we learn and grow and mature. And if everyone is going to constantly be remembered by things they did 7 & 8 years ago then maybe everyone should just stop trying to be better individuals. I say GREAT JOB Justin & Thank you for honoring the USMC by joining them on this occasion.

That’s good. I think it is a good thing for movie stars to mingle with the regular people. It’s more of a salvation to the actors than they realize right now. And, they will realize in which ways they have been spared misery when the time comes. It’s good to come down off their pedestal now, and sooner than later.

Good for him is right! I have no problem with the youth looking up to celebraties anf athletes as role models as long as they are people like this, humble. But all of our men and women are hero‘s and the only hero’s in our country. The problem lies with our media. I feel they do a terrible job at covering the wars and our hero’s when one them does something incredible! When was the last time you turned on the news and didn’t see the media reporting on the next celebraty scandel or stupid court case? What we portray as import to our youth is what they will use to structure their morals and ideals. Right now we suck at this! My grandfather was always my hero, along with the rest of my family, for his service in WW2 but more importantly how he raised his large family.

@LiberalMarine I’m sure he had a blast at the ball! Being the Mom of a daughter dating a Marine and hearing the things he had to endure during his deployments to Iraq, you guys and gals deserve a night to cut loose, have one too many and concentrate on the good reasons you became Marines in the first place. Yeahhh some take it a bit far and that’s sad, but it’s even sadder to see how all of our military are treated by the public. And yes … I have seen the Marines leaving from a Ball … many are very well inebriated and even falling down drunk. Sometimes it happens to the best of them … guess you all are not only Marines but you’re human too.
@Sawbuck I’ve read and re-read your comments and have yet to see where you are “defending” this branch of the military. Contrary to what you seem to believe, not all Marines go to the Ball to drink, get drunk and have to sneak out of some “skank’s” house. Yes, there are disgruntled people in the military, but there are many more outside the military. I for one, am very proud of ALL of our military for the job they do every day to make sure that people have the freedom to cut them down in sarcastic, unintelligently worded and very grammatically and wrongly spelled comments.

To Justin Timberlake and ALL the USMC … GREAT JOB!
