Kansas Cop’s Dash Cam Captures Wild Roll-Over Accident

From KAKE:

It was the evening of December 22. two Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputies were riding together on Kellogg near Meridian in Wichita. The deputy’s dash cam video from the left lane shows his fellow deputy in the right lane. They could see a car behind them in their rear view mirrors approaching way too fast.

The, suddenly, a white S-U-V traveling at an estimated 90-to-100 miles-per-hour passes the deputies and veers to the left, striking the center median. As sparks and debris begin to fly, you see the deputy run over the bumper of the truck. It then came back over to the right and rolled at least twice before coming to rest on its wheels.

KAKE News obtained a copy of the video after filing a Kansas Open Records request, but the Segdwick County Sheriff’s Department declined to comment based on possible pending litigation against the driver in Wichita municipal court.

The unidentified driver of the S-U-V was rushed to a local hospital that night in serious condition. He has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.

What amazes me is I drive truck for a living..and when we come up to a wreck as bad or worst…It makes a person stop and think about what happened to that person. But as soon as they get pass it…it’s back to speeding……Go figure.

I’ve was in a rollover in a 1950 Dodge Business Coupe (no seat belts) when I was 17 and have the scars to prove it. It may look fast on a dash cam but inside it is in slow motion. There were 3 of us in the car and were hit by a car driven by…drum roll please….. an illegal immigrant.

Hold on a minute….it’s the coppers fault…..if they hadn’t been there….when he passed them…..saw them and lost control….he wouldn’t have wrecked. Oh I see one heck of a law suit coming. Those darned cops….always in the way.

Sorry to tell the police but SPEEDING had NOTHING to do with this or any other accident. Stop handing out damn speeding tickets and start handing out tickets to those who are not paying attention to driving. Is that really that difficult to figure out????

Ever crash into a concrete median and roll your car over a few times at 90 mph in front of two cop cars after having to swerve between them because they were only going the speed limit? I hate when that happens.

I do not drive like that, I am more like TROLLTRAINER I guess. Just not for 40 years. A cop friend once said “Nine your fine. Ten your mine” I am usually around 7 MPH over….. just saying.

WireWizard Good luck to you sir. May you find happiness and strength. Most everyone aspires to do “something” you Sir can say you did just that, we all have different challenges. You faced yours and so far have won. Keep it up brother.

Not necessarily. I see idiots driving like this every day. I am reminded of the thread in here a week or two back about the 1000HP vette. I had some great conversations with some real manly-men speed freaks who occupy the blaze. I am particularly reminded of my friend in the souped up dually who blows by old farts driving Priuses, billowing black smoke and blowing them off the road…Yeah, impressive…

Heh, I think Stevie was in the SUV in the video…

Oh, I was young once too…It just never ceases to amaze me now that people who drive like this think they have some kind of special skill or that they are better than everyone else…The sheeple…The truth is any idiot 16 year old can put his foot down, it does not take skill to drive like an idiot. What takes skill is avoiding all the idiots! I have not had a ticket in 40 years now. I drive 5-9MPH over the limit and I blend in. I do not cut lanes or do anything else to stand out. Every once in a while I lose track of my speed and pass a cop going a bit too fast but they always look the other way because I am driving safe. I pace the car in front and I am patient with the hotheads driving souped up duallies or silly rice burners that sound like two stroke weed eaters…That takes skill. Skill and discipline.

My favorite saying on long trips is everyone is a hero until they are out in front. They bust their butts to get around you but when they finally get to the head of the pack they slow down slower than you are running. Never fails…Do you know how much better traffic would be if everyone could simply hold a steady speed? In an age where everyone has a cruise control there is just no excuse…

You want to do 90? Then man up and take it to the track. I will see you there.

The police just released the cause of the crash , it was not the driver’s fault . Sarah Palin was chasing him cause he had an Obama bumper sticker & that’s how he ended up crashing .
Police still on the lookout for Palin who left the crash scene :)
