Kanye West Retracts Race Card Attack on Bush… Sort of

In an interview plugging his new memoir, Decision Points, with NBC’s Today anchor Matt Lauer this week, former President George W. Bush admitted that one of the lowest points of his eight-year tenure in office was when Kanye West went off prompter and announced, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people!” and that U.S. military troops were “given permission” to open fire on American citizens.
Though Bush says he wasn’t tuned in for the on-air rant broadcast via a live 2005 telethon fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina, Bush recalled the incident — and how it made him feel:
MATT LAUER: You remember what he said?
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Yes, I do. He called me a racist.
LAUER: Well, what he said, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
BUSH: That’s – “he’s a racist.” And I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now. It’s one thing to say, “I don‘t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.” It’s another thing to say, “This man’s a racist.” I resent it, it’s not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency.
Further, in Decision Points, Bush writes about West’s accusation. “Five years later I can barely write those words without feeling disgust,” he says. “I faced a lot of criticism as President. I didn‘t like hearing people claim that I lied about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction or cut taxes to benefit the rich. But the suggestion that I was racist because of the response to Katrina represented an all time low.”
Now, West is apologizing for his remarks about the former president… or at least that‘s how I’m interpreting it. Speaking to Houston radio station 97.9, Kanye responded to Bush’s remarks:
I definitely can understand the way he feels, to be accused of being a racist in any way, because the same thing happened to me, you know, I got accused of being a racist. For both situations, it was basically a lack of compassion that America saw in that situation.
“That situation” was when West rudely upstaged country singer Taylor Swift during her 2009 Video Music Award acceptance speech. Yes, the similarities are striking, Kanye…
With [Bush], it was a lack of compassion of him not rushing, him not taking the time to rush down to New Orleans. For me, it was a lack of compassion of cutting someone off in their moment. But nonetheless, I think we’re all quick to pull a race card in America. And now I’m more open, and the poetic justice that I feel, to have went through the same thing that he went [through]-and now I really more connect with him on just a humanitarian level because that next morning, the next morning when he felt that, I felt that same thing, too.
“Poetic justice” indeed. There‘s no word yet on whether President Bush will accept West’s “poetic” olive branch.

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 9:49pmPresident George Bush is human, he made some mistakes. I acknowledge that fact. I believe that President Bush always had in his mind what was best for America. I do not believe that is the case with Barack Obama. I believe his agenda for change is not what he convinced American voters he was going to do. Now the voters are expressing their displeasure at being fooled. I won’t flat out call Obama a liar, but the cast majority of his promises have been discarded by this administration. The promises are on tape and the facts are they have been cast aside. The Democrats brag about their bills they passed, how great they were. The problem is, the majority of the American people tried to tell them they did not want this or that to pass. They passed them anyway. Now they make lame excuses about the midterm losses, refusing to realize that they brought this on themselves. They are supposed to represent the wishes of the American people, what did they think would happen?

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 11:46amYou are right on. Bush is a very smart man he may not be as eloquent in his speaking as sissy Barry who reads off of dummy boards and shows his real side (the communist side) when he goes off on his own. Bush loves America Barry is ashamed of it. Bush gave more for Aids funding than any other President and yet Barry claims just the opposite. Barry has hurt any chance for another black president. West was just saying what most black people think. Everything has to be about race. Mayor Naggin is black that is why he was let off the hook and reelected. Haiti still hasn’t gotten much help from America they are holding up the aide if the President were white they would be calling him racist.

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 8:46pmMy children are half Irish, half Palestinian (I know, it’s a little odd.) My daughter is very dark and my son is pretty fair. My son always thought of himself as “white” and my daughter always thought of herself as “non-white” growing up. Yet we were all one happy family, and God bless us, we still are. One thing I always found amazing was that my daughter naturally associated with “non-whites“ and my son naturally associated with ”whites” from their earliest school days. It was simply what made them comfortable. However, this self imposed “separation” naturally led to getting to know each other’s friends as well. One thing my family has taught me, no matter how comfortable we are among our “own kind” for those who are open we will find that everybody truly is equal no matter their skin color. George Bush always reminded me of somebody who understood this. It shocks and amazes me that those with the most to lose under the tyranny of “racism” seem to truly be the most racist. Perhaps they should try to get to know us?

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 8:24pmI won’t get into details, but I was VERY involved in the Katrina relief effort. What I saw in the aftermath was tremendous needless tragedy brought on by apathy, carelessness, and a collective entitlement mentality. Those (of all races, I might add) who were working alongside me all agree it was avoidable in large measure, but Bush had nothing to do with it–this goes back to individual responsibility! For Kanye West to suggest that racism was even a factor in the response just doesn’t have a clue, and has absolutely no appreciation for the depth of charity and courage thousands of volunteers, rescue personnel, and our nation demonstrated. Screw Kanye West and all those who believe as he does!

You just think his IQ is high because that is what the sycophantic media has been saying all along. Of course, we all know that wishing does not make it so.
I for one have never found Obama to be particularly more intelligent than the average person, nor have I ever seen any evidence to convince me of his mythical brillance. On the very rare ocassion that Obama speaks off the cuff the results are atrocious. He is unable to speak extemporaneously which means that he does not have well formed thoughts.
Reading is fundamental, but it is not evidence of brillance.
However, I do know that George W. Bush made all of his records public and if I recall correctly GWB has an IQ around 126, for walkwithme and 13thgenerationidiot, that is above average.
So, since I am a relatively intelligent person I have deduced that if Obama‘s IQ were higher than Bush’s it would have been made public, which can only mean, it is not.

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 6:47amI have posted many examples and links to them. The moderators have removed most all of them. If you can see the links I’ve posted then go look at the other members and all their comments to his. You will see from their comments that he has been posting them. If the links are not there then the forum moderators removed them. I put over 20 links. Hope you can see them on here.

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 8:15amCheck the link on my screen name and read the whole page. It’s only one of many examples. You will find Matty1631 (AKA Tea Bagging Patriot) is a fraud. ALl comments are meant to bate users into responding to his hateful racist comments. The moderators have mostly removed his BS but you can read other users comments on what he was saying.

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 8:23amI am so sick and tired of people stating that Bush is an idiot. Idiots don’t get accepted in Hardvard and fly fighter jets. Wise up…and be honest – if you didn’t like his decisions than state that! This man had to make alot of major decisions when this country was attacked, hit by a huge hurrican, had the housing market collapse, etc. President Bush is no idiot – and I find your attack offensive and ignorant!

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 11:51amTeabagging Patriot,
Either clean up your posts or remove Ronaldus Magnus’ picture from it. BTW, if you think you are pulling him down by using his picture, those of us who admired President Reagan know better and you are just showing your ignorance.

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 2:22pmWell 13th, you are one great example. I play with you again…
Do not say how intelligent you are when grazing with the cattle. Do not pretend you are above feeding in the same pasture when picking grass from your teeth.
Intelligence was never wisdom. Being a 13th generation “American” means diddly squat. I was invited on a Mensa sailing trip, and I have to say I have never met such a group of selfish, self absorbed, incapable idiots than that group. The rigging work, knots used, and lack of basic common sense demonstrated that day convinced me that I NEVER wanted to be counted amoungst their numbers. They tied the anchor on the aft, and then the tide rushed in raising the water level and pulling the boat down into the water. They could not untie the anchor because they used a square knot and many started to jump ship. And whilst they panicked and jumping in the river, I calmly and quickly pulled a knife and cut the anchor free. Nobody said thank you, nobody congratulated me for saving the boat, but they tried to get me to pay for a new anchor and rope because I was the one that cut it free.
So go ahead and speak of your intellect, it means nothing, and please keep trying to sell your 13th generation drivel, there are some of us that exceed that number exponentially.

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 9:43pm@13generationamerican Wow, generalities with no proof. You claim something so abhorant with little to no evidence, yet expect people to believe what you say? You sir are a bigot by definition. Your intolorance screams with pure malice and obvious stupidity.
Thank you for showing me your true colors so that I can effectively ignore anything you may say in the future.
