Karl Rove’s Electoral Map: If Election Were Held Today, Obama Would Win

Mitt Romney has just clinched the Republican nomination, and according to GOP strategist Karl Rove, he has a lot of catching up to do. In fact, according to Rove, if the election were held today, Obama could destroy Romney by as many as 100 votes:

Karl Rove Debuts First Electoral Map of 2012, Which Shows Obama in LeadRove’s map shows that for Romney, even in the event that he wins all of the as-yet undecided 82 electoral votes, he would still have to flip a state that leans toward Obama in order to win – the most likely prospects being Pennsylvania, Ohio or Michigan.

Fortunately for Romney, he has at least one home court advantages in all of those states – all of them have Republican Governors. Unfortunately for Romney, Obama also has a home court advantages in those states – all of them have organized labor as a strong presence. Moreover, Romney’s advantage is blunted by a serious problem – all of the Republican Governors in those states (John Kasich, Rick Snyder and Tom Corbett) have low approval ratings. Granted, this doesn’t necessarily make his victory impossible – institutional power is institutional power, no matter how unpopular it is – but it does mean that he won’t necessarily be able to rely on endorsements to make his case where the Governors are concerned.

With that said, Romney has a second home court advantage in Ohio and Pennsylvania – despite their unpopular Republican Governors, each of them have popular Republican Senators. And it just so happens that one of those Senators has been often floated as on the short list for Romney’s Vice Presidential pick – Ohio Senator Rob Portman.

Rove just wants more money for Crossroads. Boehner does the same thing by saying they could lose the House.

Although Rove is right, Obama is doing very well in the swing states. And will probably win, unless the slow upward trend on the economy reverses fast.

But as the past elections show, as you come out of a tough primary, much like between Obama and Clinton, the primary’s approval and acceptance will start to climb.

This is especially true when it comes to leadership and the RNC took it to Obama today with this new ad: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2012/apr/rnc_first_romney.html

Ok for the umpteenth time at trying to paint a picture of reality for you aPaulogists. Ron Paul will not win the nomination. Ron Paul has said he will not run as a 3rd party (if he does then he is not really the guy you say he is – that is another discussion) Ron Paul will not be on the ballot. The choices will be Romney and Obama.

So you are saying for the sake of “principle” you will not vote at all? And that makes any sense how? And you are so happy with another 4 years of Obama, you will stay home rather than vote for the Not Obama candidate?

Is Romney the best – No
Is Romney better than Obama? Yes
Will a Romney Pres give us more time to mobilize and stem the tide? Yes
Did we get to this point in a year? No
Do we need more time? Yes
Will Obama re-elected give us that time? No

Have you ever heard the adage – cut your nose off to spite your face?

We have much work to do to re-gain the “soul” of our country We have many remedial liberty lessons to teach our countrymen. We have more work to accomplish and time is what we need. An Obama re-election means time has run out

And for those of you who think Obama for another 4 years is so fabulous – Here’s a new flash for you….you too will be stuck with Obama and the marxist, communist, no freedom that comes with it.

And guess what, if those of us who are working to support those of you who won’t, decide it is no longer worth it to support ourselves and you too, and go Galt , I don’t thin

While I agree with the fact a lot of the right is so mad they want anyone but Obama or Paul but I think the Obama will crush Romney. I think he is another McCain that doesnt appeal to many and will just get destroyed. You also have to factor in the cheating element the left will use. They will cheat and win. Its just really sad what a pathetic candidate the right has put up against Obama.

either rove really does not have a clue, or he is a very smart man. so many SEIU members are not going to vote for obama. Yea they work for the state but as so many have told me they are Americans too. so I really don’t think Rove has talked to many dems that will not be voting obama this time. The other side of this, What if Rove is keeping it looking as if Obama is going to win hands down. I still think if the real numbers come out. He will see he is going to lose and this country will not have an election he will claim marshal law, he will have the OWS people start some thing and America will be no more. What do you all think?

“I think he is another McCain that doesnt appeal to many and will just get destroyed.”

I am so sick of hearing this. I don’t like him, but McCain was ahead in the polls until just before the election, when the economy went south.

Besides that, Obama ran a campaign against Bush, not McCain. Remember “four more years of Bush”? Even Congressmen were running ads that pointed out how many times their opponents “voted with” him. It was only just recently that the democrats realized that they can’t run another campaign against Bush.

Freedom, I dont give a crap about polls. I think about real things like McCain was a weak candidate. He was fiscally weak, he has shown over and over he had no issue taking freedom away, and overall he had no answers for the problems our country faced at the time.

Yes, he like Romney were/are garbage candidates. I dont need a poll to tell me who to vote for. I vote for principles. Romney has none. He will say whatever he can to get elected.

Of course President Obama would win the election if it were held today. And if it were held tomorrow. And if it were held next November.

One thing that Rove knows that you don’t know is that Romney and the other Republican nominees were appealing to people like you, and they all swung way to the right to get your votes. But the fringe that most here represent won’t win a general election.

So be prepared folks! Romney is going to shake his etch-a-sketch and reinvent himself to appeal to a broader range of people, and implicitly tell you guys to f-off.

Keep in mind Rove wants the Republicans to win. These polls just indicate the amount of work the Tea Party will have to do before November. If we cant bring our libertarians back into the party and can’t get enthusiastic about this luke warm candidate then we are toast. BTW – we also need that grass roots effort to hold our politicians accountable. If the Tea Party can‘t prove that it’s ideals determine the course of elections it will be ignored by the republican party.

It will be an Obama landslide in electoral votes (not popular) and that is all that matters. Obama’s ace in the hole will be “I’ll extend your welfare/food stamps/unemployment, forgive student loans, eliminate mortgages under water, give SS a raise…whereas those nasty republicans want to take it all away from you as an act of responsibility.”

Nobody cares about the constitution, liberty or freedom if it takes the food off their table or the roof from over their heads.

The ONLY chance Romney has is his VP pick. He must pick a charismatic leader, who doesn’t just offer “hope” that things will get better…but a steadfast CERTAINTY. Someone who can inspire and move the crowds.

And…I don’t think Romney will let his ego go with such a person. This is his big chance and he’s not going to allow himself to be upstaged like McCain was with Palin.

It can’t be Newt (he’d try to run things), can’t be Paul (he’s a nut), can’t be Santorum (he’s boring), can’t be West (he‘s a junkyard dog that won’t stay on his chain), can’t be Palin (stick a fork in her), can’t be Daniels (too old to appeal to the rug rats), can’t be Rand Paul (he’s a son of a nut)…honestly, for sheer charisma his only chance is Christie…or possibly (for the likable brainiac image), Paul Ryan…Rubio is a maybe as well, but seems like a well meaning kid.

I‘ll bet they just can’t wait to get their hands on all that money (the government, that is). What they don‘t realize is that they’ll ruin the healthcare industry, retirement communities, assisted living, hospice, travel and cruise lines, etc., etc., etc.–all the things that ‘the wealthy’ pay for that are provided for free to the poor and needy! Obamas policies have hurt these states and his ridiculous law suits over illegal immigration and voter IDs has a lot of voters pi**ed off at Sweet Old Barack and Holdup. The TSA high handedness can be blamed on Fat Janet. Fast and Furious needs to be back in the spotlight by Issa.
If the republicans run against Sweet Old Baracks promises that he failed to keep and the screw ups and dictorial executive orders. If SCOTUS invalidates Obamacare, the AZ law on illegals and the courts throw out the lawsuits against voter ID. The bad publicity from these should swing some votes.

      KAYDEEBO,

Here is my thinking on this. Romney ‘s policies are about 7% different than Obama. Very much a big government Republican. He will keep the FED in pretty much the same roll it is now, he may replace Bernanke, but his replacement will be with a Goldman Sachs type Bankster Chairman and not much will change.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWDJEc92d38&feature=player_embedded

So given that Obama is an “overt” socalist, and Romney is a “covert” socalist, I am actually rooting for Obama to win. The reason is because we are facing very hard economic times in the next few years regardless of who our president is. If we go down with an “Overt” socalist the dumb public will wake up to its destructive policies. If we go down with a “covert” socalist (Romney) the dumb public will say “see those capitalist policies don’t work” and we may go swing back to total communism.

You nailed it my friend, and thus the reason I will not vote for Romeny.

If Ronmenty the big government RINO gets elected, then we know the house and senate will swing hard left in 2014. With a big gove president, and a socialist controlled senate and house, we drive over the cliff faster than Obama at the help, and republicans take the blame.

If republicans want to push another McCain, then they failed to learn their lesson last time, and they deserve four more years of Obama.

If Romeny is the choice for Republicans, then I am no longer a Republican. I will sit this one out.,

Thanks Glenn to your constant characterizing Rick Santorum as something he is not, “the next George Washington” and your false characterization of Mitt Romney, yes, Mitt Romney is not as supported as he should be. Your business is better off if Obama stays in office so you lied about (no chance of winning) Santorum to make him better than he is and you lied about Romney to make him worse than he is. This is a sobering analysis by Rove. What it tells conservatives is that they have A LOT of work to do. Obama is only good at one thing..campaigning, nothing else. He’s not averse to lying, obfuscating, telling half truths, making outlandish promises, smearing…etc. He will say and do anything for a vote and he’s a got a lot of money to do that with. Like his “oil production has gone up” talking point. Sure it has…but only on state and private lands out of his reach..on federal lands oil production has gone down by around 50%. You see? Romney is yet to start concentrating solely on Obama. Obama’s got a compliant press that fawns over him. He’s got a Hollywood industry willing to create fiction that disparages conservatives for him. His Achilles heel is that he has a record now. Plouffe and Axelrod can‘t sell his successes because he doesn’t have any credible successes. Obamacare teeters on the brink of being found unconstitutional and remains hugely unpopular. The economy is slowing and may even double dip into a recession again. Jobless rates are still unacceptably high. Foreclosures still too high. Home prices dropping whereby people now owe more on their homes than their homes are actually worth. As sobering as Rove’s report is….it’s early days. Give Romney time to campaign solely against Obama and I’m confident that map will look a lot better for him before November.

Why is the GOP so quiet? Why don’t they “fight back” against lies that are being told? I could understand if a few did not fight back, but over 90%? There are two reasons someone does not defend themselves when their life (freedom) is on the line:
      1) They are terribly afraid
      2) They have been bought off and part of the “plan”.

Honestly, I believe the latter to be true. I don’t know of anyone (even a wimp) that would give up their livelihood or repress defending their livelihood.

I haven‘t read all the post proceeding mine so I don’t know if someone has already pointed this out but here goes . Rove is a political strategist therefor he says and does things to advance his cause ,this little negative news is a good example ,I can only speculate as to why he would release this information ,it‘s not that he doesn’t think Romney has a good chance of winning because he has supported him from the start. So why would he do that ? Could it be that he wants to give democrats a false sense of security and try to light a fire under Republican’s asses ,knowing full well that obama is having trouble in traditionally blue states ,could be.

You see idiots like JZS already puffing his chest out ,maybe that is the desired response that Rove wants ,an overconfident left wing.

Truth is I know many democrats and have heard many talk about staying home in November and I know many more Republicans and they don’t care who is running against obama they are going to be out in force to vote against obama

Get this through your skull….the Fed is not going anywhere. Got it? Even if Ron Paul got elected, he’d quickly realize all his fantasy land ideas would not work in the real world. While he does have some good ones, he has mostly very, very bad ones. They sound great but are simply not feasible. Don’t get stuck on stupid and remember:

      1. Romney sucks.

Reagan had three good debates against Carter and asked the American people, “Are you better off now
than you were four years ago?” When Carter said something stupid, Reagan said: “Well, there you go again, Mr. President.” Who ran as an independent in the 1980 election? Former Senator John Anderson,

Come on people! Just be honest with yourselves and look at Obama’s record since he has assumed the presidency since many of you voted for him. What really has he accomplished? How is all that hope and change working out for YOU? Are you better off than you were since Obama was elected? Is the economy moving in the right direction? Are you pleased with the direction of his goal to “Transform America?” Transform into what? Obama wants us all to suck on the tweet of big government and transform us into a entitlement society. He does not honor or respect the Constitution which got us to be the most free county with the most liberty from big government in the history of the world.Do you really want 4 more years of more record deficits and an abysmal economy? Do you really want Obama to keep chipping away at our cherished freedoms? Do you really admire and respect Nancy Polosi and Harry Reid? Give me a break!!! Open your eyes! Can’t you see where this is going if Obama is reelected for another term? Obama is over is head and is incompetent.Nothing he has tried has worked. He has no record of accomplishments to run on. Look at his promises as a candidate in 2008 versus what he has delivered. If I was on the Board of Directors and hired Obama as CEO to run the company of USA Inc., he would have been terminated long ago based on what he said he could accomplish in his job interview versus what he actually accomplished on the job. He had his chance. He has failed. Adios Obama.

Ron Paul’s a nice, bright fellow, who shares a lot of our values; but he will not be the nominee. I like the heck out of his family. MCCain lost because he was a dope re: Financial thing. FINANCIAL THING was thanks to GEORGE SOROS flooding the market (we all know that) . ROMNEY has an inner grit. I saw it during the fight to save the OLYMPICS in Salt Lake…I’ve seen it now. ANN ROMNEY is as good as it gets. THEY came up on their own. THEY are the AMERICAN DREAM that we will (if we fight for it) get back. Obama is a Muslim/Commie Trojan Horse, a Manchurian Candidate, as bad as it gets. He has acted presdidential and he is more of a fighter than McCain and he actually seems to conservative regardless of his governing a liberal state. He is going to be characterized by the left but the right needs to not let the left dictate the talking points or the charicature. The people doing media for Romney need to be better than Obama because Obama has most of the media in his pocket. The debate between Romny and Obama needs to have Romney kicking bu**. If not, we may not win. The youth vote will kill us and unfortunately the majority of youth are too inexperienced to realize that Obama is hurting them the worse of any group. This is working class versus freeloaders. The college kids can‘t get jobs and it is Obama’s fault but to try to explain it to them is difficult because it is complicated. We will hit the debt wall and the revolution and destruction of the US and the wealth in the US will be realized if Obama gets elected. We will not be the country we once were and the people in the country will not be as well off……..and that includes everyone….rich or poor or middle class.

Blindly going through the election and saying, Oh Romney is not a conservative, but, he is not a commie, so I will hold my nose and vote for a loser. That is what Romney will be come November, a loser. Between the SYTL deal and the votes that will be written in, the loss of the youth vote, the loss of the disenfranchised Dem vote, Obama will be elected again. Goodbye America as we know it.

Anyone who is for legalizing drugs should not be even a consideration for President. A man who agrees with abortion is a murderer. A man who has ever used any type narcotic drug should never be a consideration for any type high office. A drunkard should not be President.

People need to keep their skirts down and their pants zipped. Why should little babies pay for your sorriness? People who have children out of wedlock should be made, both parents to support these children until they are about 22 years old. Parents who are unwed should not raise children without them being deemed fit to do so on regular home checks until the child is old enough to speak for themselves and should be able to talk about their treatment at home if it is in the slightest questionable. Parents should be held responsible for any and all monetary obligations accrued by child raising, not the state. Give them a job and make them work to support the child or children. If they are not on the job, then put them to work inside a prison and pay them wages like on the outside and that would be only for ones with children. The rest in prison should be put to doing something useful and constructive and if they cannot, or not willing, should be in intensive lock up.
This country should not keep people incarcerated for years before applying the death sentence. They should give a couple of years at the very most then do what they must.

Are you aPaulogists devoid of reality?

Ron Paul will not win the GOP nomination.

Ron Paul is not going to be on the ballot

Are you willing to bet the farm on a write in campaign (here’s a hint paul has gotten about an average 10% of the vote in the primaries)

Let’s do some simple math (I realize that is a stretch for those of you “educated” in the public schools in that past 30 years – but let’s give it a shot)….

You write in Paul = 10% of the vote goes to Ron Paul. 45% of the vote goes to Obama, 44% of the vote goes to Romney? and 1% goes to the other losers on the ballot. If you had voted for Romney, O would be history, As it stands, your “principle” vote matters how?

Is O still the president or is the “principle” elected? Which is better Obama or any one but Obama?

Surely, you all can’t be that cluelessly stupid?!?!?

Are any of you old enough to remember Ross Perot? (that is how we started down this road after Reagan to begin with or are you still trying to decide what “is” is)

Get a grip. Get a clue.

Obama has to be defeated – at whatever cost to your “principles”

There will be no principles at all if O is re-elected.

If we want any change what so ever (since the leftist took it to be the green light for leftist “ideals” at the election of Obama) we have to defeat him by overwhelming margins.

Overwhelming margins means you aPaulogists better wise up.

Kaydee, I can guarantee you that the GOP will lose more than 10%. If Romney is the nominee, he will lose 20-25%. He will also not get the 30% of disenfranchised Dems that Paul would get, he will not get the youth vote. You guys really take the cake don’t you. You think it is all about just the GOP. Well our country is not just GOP and Paul wins hands down against Obama with all the parties rallying around him. You GOP idiots are going to be at fault for losing our country. You were idiots in ‘08 and have not learned your lesson. Have fun in you poverty.

MONACNE/SLEAZY HIPPO….your flatulence that you call a post has no value to anyone. You waste your time here. The fact that you created multiple screennames for yourself to excrete your idiocies here is testament to the fact that you’re nothing but lefty damaged goods. You’re a creep and the fact that you perpetuate your little act for each screenname you have only serves to make you look like the creep you are. I still would like understand what’s going through your mind though. Why do you persist in posting here knowing you’ve been found out? Knowing that your multiple screennames are known to the readers here? You‘re so stupid and robotic in your zeal to mock conservatives that you forget who you’re posting as and put your MONACNE personality’s “TEA” tagline at the end of your other personas’ posts. Why do you do it? Why do you keep posting here? You’ve been caught out. What compells you to keep returning as if nothing has taken place? Please answer my question because any normal human being would show some dignity and leave after they’ve been found out…but you keep returning like nothing’s happened. It’s just creepy..there’s no other word for it. You’re like a Stepford wife. Weird.

WALKABOUT..don’t kid yourself mate. MONACNE’s anachronistic use of Aussie vernacular is proof enough that he/she (depending on which personality he/she is using at any given time) isn’t Aussie. Whens’ the last time you heard anyone born after 1950 in Aussie call themselves a “sheila” in regular conversation? She/he might as well call you “cobber” if she’s going to do that. She/he’s a phony. MONACNE/SLEAZY HIPPO is a creepy lefty that uses multiple screennames and personas to perpetuate some kind of weird childish game to mock conservatives.

Sorry if you misunderstood, I am not Australian, but a natural born citizen of the USA. I was only welcoming you to the Blaze, not claiming to share your heritage except to reinforce the strong friendship our countries share as close allies. Lately he/she’s been a little desperate and actually trying to make some jokes on the boards to try and ingratiate him/herself to the readers as if his/her creepy history of creating multiple screennames and post as both male and female personalities has never taken place. Obama simply does NOT have the same magnetic appeal he had in 2008. – the independents will NOT come out for him again. Romney WILL WIN, hands down. – i mean, My gaawwwwwwlllldd. . . who in their right mind will vote for Obama? who are these tards? – - i know not everyone’s excited about Romney, but if Romney doesnt win, its because tardnugget conservatives who stayed home rather than voting Obama out.
