Comedian Katt Williams Is Not Directly Apologizing for ‘Anti-Mexican’ Rant

Actor and comedian Katt Williams went on a wild rant on stage last weekend in Phoenix, including a heated exchange with a heckler of Mexican descent in the crowd.
Some have perceived his routine to be xenophobic. Williams has clarified since the show that he does not want his comments to be taken as hateful towards Mexicans, but stands by a lot of what he said.
“I meant what I said and I said what I meant,” Williams said to CNN.
Reuters reports that Williams has stressed as a comedian, he cannot apologize for a performance, drawing a sharp line between what is said on stage and his true feelings.
“If a person starts their heckling with F–America, then that gives me the right to defend my country. I couldn’t be Anti-Mexican, my Mexican fan base is largely responsible for me even existing……..I don’t think I need to apologize for being pro-American.”
Williams has stepped away from the orignal apology released by his publicist last week.
Williams has had several run-ins with the law over the last two years, including being kicked out of a Young Jeezy concert for fighting on August 25.

The guy is a comedian his job is to talk this guy just interrupts him then insults our country and tries to claim America is Mexico? Katt isn’t my style of comedy; but I defend his right to practice his craft. If you don‘t like his humor don’t go to his show. Personally, I think the landscaper joke was a commentary on the work ethic of the Mexican community. They aren’t afraid of hard work. I see it more a compliment than an insult. God Bless us all.
