Kentucky Church Bans Interracial Couples From Becoming Members & Leading Worship

A small Kentucky church finds itself at the epicenter of a battle over racism and the gospel. Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church, a small, 40-person congregation located in Pike County, Kentucky, is catching widespread grief over its recent decision to target interracial couples. The church has decided to forbid these couples from partaking in worship activities and will not allow them to become members.
At the heart of the decision stands 24-year-old Stella Harville. Her father, Dean Harville, is a longtime member of and secretary for church who has come out strongly against the newfound regulation. While his daughter grew up in the church and worshiped there, she is not currently a member.
The situation commenced when Stella, who is working on a master’s degree in optical engineering at a college in Indiana, brought her African-born fiancé, Ticha Chikuni, to church last June.
It what many would describe as a wonderful example of a couple worshiping together, Stella played the piano, while Ticha sang. All was well — or so they thought.
Later on in the summer, Dean claims that the church’s former pastor, Melvin Thompson, told him that Stella and her boyfriend were not permitted to sing to the congregation again. In August, Thompson stepped down from his pastoral post, citing health concerns. However, in what many are calling an instance of racism, he refused the family’s requests to drop the issue and to allow interracial performances.
The new pastor, Stacy Stepp, apparently told the couple that they were free to sing at the church if they wanted to. But in November, Thompson, clearly still having influence in the church, pushed the issue further and encouraged congregants to go along with his bans on various aspects of interracial worship.
Apparently, the proposal read, ”parties of [interracial] marriages will not be received as members, nor will they be used in worship services.” WKYT.com has the entire alleged statement:
“That the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church does not condone interracial marriage. Parties of such marriages will not be received as members, nor will they be used in worship services and other church functions, with the exception being funerals.
All are welcome to our public worship services. This recommendation is not intended to judge the salvation of anyone, but is intended to promote greater unity among the church body and the community we serve.”
The church decided to put the proposal up for a vote this week and apparently nine individuals voted in favor, with six others voting against it. While there were others in attendance, some didn’t take a stand on the matter.
Dean called the entire spectacle racist and said, “It sure ain’t Christian. It ain’t nothing but the old devil working.” Thomson, though, says that the proposal has been taken out of context and has declined to comment further on the matter.
“It’s just a travesty, especially of Christianity, that this church feels this way. They‘ve crossed the line in revoking my fiance and mine’s right to worship in a public place,” Stella told WYMT-TV. “It hurts even more that I have attended this church ever since I was a baby.”
Stella is extremely saddened by the spectacle and does not have plans to go back to the church. Her parents plan to ask the church to reconsider its decision during Wednesday night’s service — or they plan to find a new house of worship.

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 9:21pmNdbbm, I glad your church is tolerant, something I believe is inherent in the teachings of Christ.
Unfortunately many Christians don’t believe as you do. Frankly I’m surprised that at least half the posts here support the couple. Liberals these days, at least the ones I know, don’t so much as give a thought to interracial or same sex unions. A liberal would say, if you were to question one about it, “Who cares?” But just as 50 years ago interracial marriages signaled to Conservatives the collapse of the morality and the death civilization (like the Roman empire), so now people think gay marriage signals the end of Western civilization. Friends, that too will pass.
Really. Who cares who marries whom?

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 9:29pmThe woman and her boyfriend are free to go elsewhere to worship. Let me say that I come from a family that has had one non Anglo as a part of it. His, the gentleman who was brown skinned and I use that because he despised “African American,” family felt the same way as the church as do I. Now, if someone at the Blaze would like to confirm this I’d be more than willing to provide proof of everything I state here. Here is the bottom line on this and I must say that the Ali video is so very valid even today. The “White race” is becoming extinct as will be our way of life. There is no way around that. Take a look at all the educated Black Folk who run Birmingham, AL. or Detroit, MI….. how are they doing. How has Chicago, D.C. Atlanta et. al been doing? Well the culture of the Americans whom find themselves to be of African heritage is not conducive to a successfully administered municipal organization. Heck, name one country on the continent of Africa that is a great safe place to live & thrive? Hint…. there is not one.
Now, I do not subscribe to any hatred of any human being but I do support the truth. Of course the truth has a liberating affect on everyone and just because someone may be conditioned to shun the actions of this church because of 60 plus years of organized social conditioning, does not make what the church did wrong. It is in fact…. natural and supported in every other race except what is currently referenced as, the “White Race.”

Really. Who cares who marries whom?
Both interracial and gay marriage makes me sick to my stomach. Just my opinion..
Even God said he didn’t like it.. He didn’t want the Israelites marrying any of the other people surrounding them.. He must have thought that one group was inferior or superior to the other.. Sort of like race mattered?
Whatever. I just hate the group think!
People ask why does the Blaze put this on their site.. The answer is simple. Universalism and Multiculturalism are the pillars of the coming one World Gov’t which Beck is helping to promote. It’s essential that people like me who oppose such concepts be marginalized and rejected by our sick society.
Does that help you to understand?

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 9:58pmIf this church prefers to reject inter racial marriage they have as much of a valid platform as those who think just the opposite. Very likely they want to carry on the bloodline of people like themselves, which is a perfectly normal preference.
In fact such feelings are imbeded in nearly every person of every race. Only those who have been mentally conditioned to accept PC tenets depart from the natural order.
The ideological PC, diversity crowd, will not tolerate anyone who doesn’t share their views on a rainbow utopia 100%. It‘s not enough for a person to say that they don’t care if others want to practice multiculturalism but they would prefer to stick to their own kind. They are hated and demonized by these dregs for simply having different points of view, and the PC bunch will not stand for it.
Of course that reveals who the real bigots are. They think interracial marriages are fine, and if you don‘t you’re a racist or a hater, not someone who prefers that his family members and himself/herself want children who look like them and their ancestors.
To these mentally disturbed people, a person cannot have a different view than the one they’ve been brainwashed into believing.
If they had a motto, it would be, “Support love and tolerance or I’ll kill you,” and think their position was morally superior.
Michael Savage is right: ” Liberalism is a mental disorder.”
To each his own.

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 10:17pmTECHENGINEER,
I think you might be misrepresenting the book of Exodus a bit. Your reference to God’s command to not marry outside of the tribe is not referring to race. If you read the entire scripture it is fairly evident that the reference is made because the surrounding tribes are worshiping false gods. In fact, the 2nd chapter of Exodus also addresses an interracial marriage by none other than Moses.
I have never understood those who would ramble about the inferiority of one race as opposed to another. Someone made a comment about social conditioning, I guess in reference to political correctness, and its role in this decision. Even going as far as to assert that the decision may not be wrong. Any decision on this matter is solely dependent on who or what your source of authority is. My source is God as referenced in His Word-which preaches His love for all mankind. If you do not subscribe to that source, well, that is the great thing about the country we live in, you do not have to. However, churches do subscribe to God as the ultimate source of authority in deciding all matters. Therefore, any attempt to understand, rationalize, or pass judgement or this decision by using any other source other than what the Church itself is guided by is futile and invalid. Sort of like giving a student some history questions and an Algebra I book to answer them with.

Report Post »For all your talk of freedom you understand so little about it.
First off, freedom is individual. There’s no species-level or race-level consciousness toward self-preservation. That’s a liberal argument.
But more importantly, no one here‘s saying they shouldn’t be free to be racist. We‘re just condemning they shouldn’t be racist. It’s first amendment vs. first amendment here, which, by the way, guarantees you the right to speak, but not to be heard, much less be actually right.
All mental orders of your own or anyone else’s aside though, let’s just talk definitions. Racism = holding people to different standards based on race, no? Then racist is what these people objectively are. Not a slur, just a description.
You are okay with their racism? OK. I’m fine with your freedom to be racist too, until you act on it to impinge on another’s freedom. But I’ll still use my freedom to call you what you are then: a racist. embrace yourself, and the consequences: that rational people will stop paying attention to your opinions.

I don’t believe a church should be in the business of discrimination based on race. However, it is their church, and if that is what they want, so be it.
However, there is nothing intrinsically wrong with not wanting a person of different race to be a part of your inner group. One can feel that way and still have charity and genuine respect for people of other races. You definition of a ‘racist’ may be a bit broad.

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 12:38amQuite a few things to address:
Personally, I wouldn’t want to go to a church like this.
As far as Moses is concerned, yes, he did marry a woman who was an Ethiopian. Not only does the Bible say that he did, Josephus agreed with the Bible on this, and actually gives more details on it. (Antiquities of the Jews chapter 10, sections 252 and 253).
I do happen to know 100% of my ancestors back to my great-great grandparents, the majority of my ancestors for a few generations prior, and some ancestors back more than 500 years… enough to be confident that I do not have the sickle cell trait (which is important because my husband has sickle cell anemia).
A person’s skin color does not determine their cultural values. My interracial family is conservative and Christian. My husband listens to talk radio when he gets into the car, loves Mickey Mouse, and can’t stand rap music. My (white) sister-in-law sometimes teases him by calling him “Carlton” (in reference to the guy from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air who liked “white” things).
One of the reasons why Africa is in such a c raphole that it is today is because the Europeans came down there in the 1800s and carved it all up for themselves. They had their problems, but the way that the nations were divided up back then didn’t help.

No it is 60% or less racist. There are enough racist members however to really spoil everything. A 50 member church really can’t afford to lose 6 to 20 members. If they do the church will fold. The racist will have a hard time finding a church to accept them. but that is their problem.

If someone or some group does not think people of different races should date or marry, but never speaks ill or takes offense at other races, are they still “racists” because of their belief that people of different races should not cohabitate, become a “couple” or raise a family together? If the race aspect was removed and replaced with religion instead, what would some of you call it then? Would it be OK then in your vast cosmopolitan open-mindedness? Those of you who feel the overpowering need to rush and comment here so as to show everyone else how enlightened you are in hopes of giving yourself your own “atty boy” so you can feel superior need to think about it more. The reality is, most people probably don’t see things like you do. They don’t feel the same as you do. They hold completely different beliefs than you do…and you know what? In a free society those with a different outlook, even an extreme one, have a perfect right to believe what they want, and to associate with others that believe as they do. Don’t like it? Not only because of their bigoted stand, but because I’m in an interracial marriage to an interracial woman and we have tri-racial kids.
My problem with this is here:
Scripture is clear that God wants us to be more like Him and that He made us in His image.
Surely, with three subgroups within the human race (Caucasoid, Mongoloid and Negroid), if there truly is an image of God and He created us in it, the closer you come to having the three combined into one race has to be the closest picture of Him, right?
I’ll say that again, just to be perfectly clear: the combination of the three subgroups back into one race to the glory of God has got to please him.
So, I know my kids look how God intended the human race to look and I’m raising them to act how God wanted us to act.
If this was my church, that‘s the argument I’d be making. Oh- and BTW: I’m in a Baptist church. This isn’t a Baptist core belief.
By this, this church shows me that it’s a Baptist church only inasmuch as Westboro is.

Posted on December 1, 2011 at 9:51amI’m white. I love my race. I love my heritage. Race matters. Race has always mattered and it always will. However, attempting to have a discussion on the issue of race with the typical American who has exposed to about 75 years of nonstop anti-White pro multicultural propaganda is akin to telling your 7-8 yr old there’s no Santa Clause. They can’t believe it and they thoroughly reject it. Then a year or two passes, they grow older and wiser, they begin to examine the facts and eventually they see the light no matter how discouraging it might be initially.
Over the years I have mostly been lackadaisical on the issue of race. It’s never really been a big deal to me because I try to see the best in everyone; however, it was the Immigration policies which eventually opened my eyes to the more sinister aspect of race and to the plot of those who are conspiring to create a One-World Globalist Multicultural society in which they reign.
There are books about race presenting the pros and the cons. Don’t assume you know everything. Read the data. Personally in my life I don’t need to see the data because I’ve experienced it first-hand. There’s no way under the sun that one could possibly convince me that different races as a whole are identical and that there are no differences among them. If you believe that then you are extremely misinformed.

First off, freedom is individual. There’s no species-level or race-level consciousness toward self-preservation”
What you say is not only steeped in a lack of education, it is blatantly stupid as is your entire rant.
The highest instinct in the entire animal world is self preservation and a perpetuation of the species.
People like you are weak minded, brainwashed zombies who have been conditioned to mouth PC platitudes in order to get you to believe those things that basic facts of nature prove false.
People gravitate to their own kind or are you blind, too? Go to a “multicultural” school cafeteria and see kids who are together with their own kind in groups. That mostly occurs among adults too….everywhere.
Why do you think there are racial/multicultural divisions in neighborhoods? It is because people prefer their own kind. Whit flight, when blacks move into a white neighborhood tells far more about human nature than the lies you want people to believe.
The entire world gives the same kind of examples of forced integration gone bad. Just look at the Balkins, Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, on and on. Ethnic fights and riots occur every where people are forced to live together who do not want to.

This is such a logical fallacy it does not even deserve a response. But as this poster seems to be one of the most irrational people I have read in here I will try to explain it to him. Irrational dude, you cannot judge the whole of religion by the example of one church. My church would welcome this couple, as I would welcome them into my house. The majority of Christians responding here seem to agree that they also have no problem. So my experience of religion cancels out yours.
Problem? No, you are obviously prejudiced against Christianity. It was a blatant troll designed to elicit a response. I only obliged because I could not resist, yet again, to point out the irrationality of someone who seems to think he is a rational man.
@ Techengineer,
According to my Bible we are all descended from Adam and Eve, and secular science, through the misnamed “Mitochondrial Eve” shows a bottleneck in our DNA that clearly points to the flood survivors. This means that we are all related and are all brothers and sisters. Jesus tells us we need to love our brothers and sisters, love them as ourselves. You fail. If you are a Christian you had better start reading your Bible.

Your biggest problem is ignorance.
Because various ethnicities of Caucasoids interbreed has nothing to do with “mixed marriages.” They are all of the same race. Races are distinct groups of people who have commonality with each other. Race comprises an extended family. Skin color doesn’t define race either. Middle Easterners and some Indians, as well as other “colored” people, belong to the species known as Caucasoids.
Skeletal evidence of each of these would be basically the same as Europeans. That’s not true of other peoples of the earth.
You have been effectively programmed into a multicultural mindset by masters whose intent and desires is to create a one world government, with a one world man, so they distorted basic scientific facts to fit their agenda and fed it to people like you who are brainwashed into believing their propaganda.
One of their tactics is to make a person feel morally superior by adapting their perverted schemes. It worked nicely with you.

In no place in the Bible is anyone “voted” into the church. Following the pattern set forth in the Bible, one is added to Christ’s church by 1. Hearing the Gospel Rom 10:17, 2. Believe Acts 15:11, 3. Repent 2 Cor 7:10, 4. Confess 1 Jn 1:9, 5. Baptism Acts 2:38. There are many other scripture that suppport this pattern and many examples of people following this pattern, yet there is NO example of anyone voting to allow someone to “join” the church. Therefore, any church that votes for someone to join the church is not the church of the Bible. Also, there is NOTHING in the Bible that restricts interracial couples from being added to the church. Robert is wrong. Do you have Native American blood in you as well as German blood? If so that is the same thing as “white mixing with black”. That is Shem mixing with Japheth.
Shem
Japheth
Ham
We all came from those 3 tribes. The spreading at the Tower of Babel caused like groups to associate only with their own like group because they could not communicate with any one else. Over time and isolation dominant traits in each of those three ensured the colors of the world today.
Hispanics is not an original race in reality but a mix of races. Same with “Indians” or better know as Native Americans. Native Americans are associated with Shem. Japeth is associated with whites. Ham is associated with both fair and brown.
Psalm 105: 23 “Israel also came into Egypt…the land of Ham.”
Are Egyptians “black”? No.
The only reason we today think a “white” shouldn’t marry a “black” is due to a deep seeded discrimination that once was used against Native Americans as well as between Irish and German or English and Scottish.
My sister, heinz 57 like me, married a black man and had twins, a boy and girl. Both have fire red hair, with the girl having snow white skin and the boy having tan skin.
And no Jews are not the best historians otherwise they could trace their roots to the original tribes and they cannot.

If your skin turns brown in the sun you are not white. You are mixed.
And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle. (Exodus 12:38 KJV)
Shem is associated to “brown” as you suggested. What color is BiBi. White as associated with Japheth, Russia.
Tech can enlighten you more as to why BiBi has more the skin color of a Russian than an Arab (Shem).
What a person looks like inside is what God wants us to focus on, not their skin color. Thinking a black and white should not marry is a direct hypocrisy of the mixed race most Americans have themselves and it’s based upon evil hatred and not of God.

Howdy my friend. Hope you are doing well.
Multiculturalism is bad, but is isn’t based on race, skin color. Germans did not believe sharing the same culture as the French cause the French were sissies but both were the same shade of “color”. Irish would never breed with the English because of culture, not skin color.
So we agree, multiculturalism is bad. We disagree on what that means.
Multiculturalism in the USA has created a mentality “whites” act like this, “browns” act like that, and “blacks” act another way when in fact we are all to act American. Progressives understood thru division they can conquer and that is exactly what they did.
I am German, Irish, English, Native, and probably much more I don’t know. I was the fastest person in my school and dunked over any “black” guy who stepped on the court even though being right at 6 ft. The idea only blacks are good at basketball or are superior is falsely taught. A lot of “black” homes do teach their kids Basketball is the only way to get out the ghetto and be successful so they focus on that. “Blacks” were first targeted on the Marxist “great society” and we see the by products of that today.
As for intelligence or “IQ”, well, many inventions came from “blacks” who would probably score real low on the book IQ test.
A Childs intelligence starts with the home and thru the Marxist great society homes have become broken and Americans as a whole is falling in rankings

I was head of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and when recruiting Athletes to the club I’d visit basketball practices and the coach would let me practice with them now and again and they always tried to recruit me back. As much fun as basketball was I knew I wasn’t going pro.
I hear you on the averages but averages is just that, average Joe. It is simply a way to categorize groups thru each average likeness. Its simply a way to divide. There are better categories to average on besides skin color.
The trait you speak of I’ve read a little over but it all goes back to the isolation from Babel. Asians with almond eyes is said to come from a tendon in the eye that in Asians does not break forming the almond eye. Just a trait that was isolated and breed into that group while breed out of the other isolated groups. Make sense?
When you get time explain to Ashes why Jews of today look more Russian (Japheth) then Arab (Shem). We are all mixed if we look at it unbiasedly.

I am not sure what website you are referencing in your assumptions about the marriage of Moses to the daughter of Reul, who was named Zipporah. This is discussed in the latter part of Exodus 2. There is evidence that they were of a different “tribe” because they referred to Moses as an Egyptian. The marriage produced Gershom, named because “I have been a stranger in a foreign land. Reul’s family were Midianites of Northern Africa. The difference of either appearance or culture was again evident in Numbers 12 as “Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married…” I just do not think that God’s Word can be any more clear than that. The only reason given for the conflict in Numbers 12 was because he married an Ethiopian woman.

ALL RACES (including caucasians) embraced demon worship. From the monolithic Stonehenge in England and the pagan Picts, to the pantheon of gods of the Romans and Greeks, to the bloodthirsty gods of the Mayans, and the millions of gods of India, etc etc etc ALL RACES have been mired in demon worship.
ONLY CHRISTIANITY has liberated the non-Jewish peoples from their paganism, anamism, and polytheism. (read the sermon Paul preached in Acts 17)
Don’t you find it ironic that now a group claiming to be “Christian” is now openly espousing racism? As I mentioned in an earlier post – God made humanity ONE race from Adam & Eve. and again from ONE family (Noah).
FALLEN MAN has separated into liguistic and cultural groups that we now term “race” – but IN CHRIST we become “new creatures”. (see my earlier post for references)
Seems like you are confused about both history and New Testament teachings.
Racist teachings of any sort are purely Anti-Christ. Which is why Liberals, Nazis, and Big Government totalitarians are totally consumed with it.

Didn’t Paul say just that… The sin part I‘m not so sure on but I was thinking the son wasn’t held responsible for the fathers sin. I could be wrong. Many have a rude awakening if they think hating a person by skin color is of God. Stay safe and keep up the good fight.

1. You weren’t asking earlier whether there was a “society without problems”. You were publicly questioning whether ANY “white” society had ever been involved with demon worship. History is clear. ALL cultures (ethinic groups) regardless of skin color were steeped in witchcraft, sorcery, necromancy, demon worship, idol worship, human sacrifice, voodoo, etc etc etc. I have personally been to Stonehenge where thousands of years ago white Europeans practiced pagan cult rituals even as God Almighty was calling Abraham to leave Ur and “go to a land that I will show you”. I have also been to blood ritual sites of the pagan Roman Empire which are dotted all throughout Europe.
Yes, it was CHRISTIANITY and the message of the Gospel ALONE which has had the power to transform human hearts and thus human societies.
YOU WROTE: “…many were already practicing and experimenting with various forms of democracies and republics long before Christ came along.”
So what? The Greeks had a pantheon of incestuous bloodthirsty psychotic “gods” as well as divination and every other practice which God Almighty forbade His followers to dabble in. The Romans were no better – even with their politics. The Western Europeans at the time were little more than tribal groups also steeped in spiritism, nature worship, druids, etc etc.

IF you actually believe in Christ, then you know that the Kingdom of God is neither a Republic NOR a Democracy – it is a Theocratic Monarchy. You believe that “every knee will bow and tongue confess”. You believe that all governments (including our own) will melt away like the snow in Spring when Messiah returns.
Perhaps we can agree that in our current fallen, broken, crazy world – the American Constitutional Republic IS the best form of government ever devised by men.
But only the Gospel holds the power to radically change the human mind, sould and heart. The Founders recognized this – and by the light of the Gospel they were inspired to create our Constitution.

That’s EASY to answer: because God was bringing the Messiah into the world through the Jewish people. It was important for Him to show mankind that He keeps His promises. Even the Old Testament shows that non-Jewish people were allowed to integrate into the Jewish religion and culture if they so chose.

Why can’t a person prefer to intermarry with his own kind be “decent?” Every normal person at birth is imbeded with a desire to continue his species and that desire is the same throughout the entire animal kingdom. It’s very natural. Only those who have been manipulated into feeling morally superior can consider somebody “indecent” for having an opposing view.
In spite of what I said let me just mention that I don‘t give a rat’s asss who marries who although I think it’s a really bad idea for a number of reasons, one of which is it gives any kids the couple might have a lot of problems with identity throughout their lives, which studies have shown leads to much angst resulting in a turn to alcohol, drugs and crime. Just look at how Obama describes his inner turmoil for years over his confusion in his book.
It’s true also that if the kid needs a bone marrow transplant later in life usual family members cannot donate any, because it would be incompatible and could not be done without killing the patient. There would be no where else to go to get it.
People who intermarry are selfish and have little regard for the emotional welfare of their children.

I mean if the Jews had accepted Christ, all us Gentiles would be doomed for hell separated from God forever. Remember Moses made plenty mistakes like when he murdered the Egyptian, and smote the rock twice, but would you condone murder and disobedience to God just because Moses did it? No way, man. You can‘t say that just because Moses’ second wife of half-Hamitic offspring (“Cushan” mixed with “Midian”) is a good example of what God desires. Midianites were Ishmalites, and we all know about who Ishmael is, and what he is the father of, Muslims. Miriam and Aaron spoke against the servant of The LORD, and that’s what kindled His anger, not the fact you think they were “racist” and God was teaching a lesson in civility.

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 9:08pmI agree. In my opinion, miscegenation is wrong and should not be discouraged. But there should not be any laws or rules against it. Instead of refusing to allow the couple to be members but instead explain to them why miscegenation is wrong and try to convince them to end the relationship.

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 9:55pmI believe not allowing miscegenation is a racist belief. If people are in love, no matter their race, then since they are humans, they have the right to marry and procreate. God does not limit us, so man should not limit us. This church is a racist church and should be condemned by anyone who believes in the Bible and Jesus as their Savior.

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 8:27pmThis is clearly a case of putting the traditions of man above the Word of God, which says when there are two or more gathered in Jesus name, he is there in the midst of them. If Jesus accepts them, then how can we put stipulations on what part of the church’s functions they share in? I’ve heard people try to tell me how interracial marriage is unscriptural, but they always seem to be twisting the scripture to make it agree with their opinion.

That’s why you have the Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Seventh Day Adventist, Mormons, Lutherans, Church Of Faith, Church of Long Hair, Church of Pot Smoking……..because everyone twist the scripture. Maybe the Jesus God should not have been so ambiguous.
Report Post »Bluegrasstide
Posted on November 30, 2011 at 9:20pmIt is impossible to prove that interracial marriage is forbidden by scripture. Exodus speaks of not taking wives outside of your tribe-however skin color was never mentioned, only the fact that other tribes were worshiping false gods. Moses married an Midianite from a different tribe. This was condemned by Mirian and Aaron, which made God angry.
The appalling aspect in all of this is that you can find prejudice anywhere, even in God’s house. Let’s just say that I am very familiar with this area of the country. By no means is this a snapshot of the community in question. However, I have a feeling that our area will be doing a lot of damage control and reputation repair in the future. The most unfortunate part of the whole story is the people who need Christ, but have been turned off by this fiasco.
I must say that it was quite the irony to watch Glenn’s show yesterday and see the quote from Bonhoeffer. God made sure that I wrote that quote down. Today I know why He did. If you are a Christian, I ask that you join me in praying for this community, this church, and the two young people who are just trying to praise God’s holy name.

Posted on December 2, 2011 at 9:00amJQ…what a great post.
The word of God is spiritual in nature. Often people forget this. They will read scripture and immediately bring it down to the level of the flesh (external). This article is a glaring example of that. The members of this church are looking at the external things about this Christian couple. The color of their skin. Always ask yourself what God looks at. Does He look at the condition of the heart, Internal; the spiritual), or does he look at the flesh (the natural; external)?
I asked God why does mankind tend to focus on this white/black race thing? The Holy Spirit guided me back to the beginning. The book of Genesis. Here God called the light “good”. Man took this spiritual truth and brought it down to the level of the flesh. White is ‘light skin’. Black is ‘dark skin’. Instead of keeping the spiritual truth God has given us regarding light and darkness, man has corrupted that truth and brought it down to the level of the flesh.
Someone may ask,”Why do I not understand what God is telling me in His word?”
Report Post »~~A natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraise all things, yet he himself is appraised by no man.~~ 1Corinthians 2:14,15
You must be born again from above.

You’re historically inaccurate even before you get to your complete lack of logic. Posted on December 2, 2011 at 2:59amI have to agree with Happystretchedthin on this one. Just read anything on the history of Nauvoo, IL. Race has been the scapegoat every time in the history of America – it was the Native Americans, the Catholics, the Irish, the Jews, the Southern and Eastern Europeans, the blacks, the Asians, hispanics, etc. Or in Nauvoo, it became the founders of the city – the Mormons. Gradually, certain groups have become accepted or just blended into society enough that they cease to be maligned, and we “upstanding citizens” move on to a new scapegoat, but the story doesn’t change – just our target.

Denominations began with the so called reformation of the 16th century. It was not a reformation, but a deformation. Before the “Great Schism” of the Eastern Orthodox, the Church (Catholic) was one; just as Jesus demanded. Look at the fruit of the “reformation”; over 30,000 denominations!
