Kentucky Dem Caught on Tape Discussing His ‘Redneck Constituency’

Kentucky Republican Mike Wilson has launched a new campaign strategy in his attempts to unseat his Democratic rival. Wilson has launched MikeReynoldsUnplugged.com, a site for the constituents of Kentucky’s 32nd district to listen to Democratic Sen. Mike Reynolds in his own words. The latest soundbite: Reynolds describing his constituency as “rednecks.”  Nice.

There is definitely not a lot of deep thought that goes into some of these campaign ads. Some of the others also deem it a good idea to insult the constituency in order to gain votes. Then again, many of the elected insult us on a daily basis, believing that it will garner support for their policies.
Somehow they can’t understand how these actions are counterproductive. It just emphasizes the disconnect.

Do you think that he has any idea what a redneck is? It refers to the color of bandanna worn around the neck by unionized coal miners to identify themselves during a conflict with company “enforcer” thugs. I hope Kentuckians remember his kind and dignified reference to them during the next election. BTW, when we bought this property 3 years ago, we were mowing the lawn and found a car….

Even in MN, if you’re calling your own people/friends/constituents rednecks, it’s a term of endearment. If you’re calling the other side rednecks, it’s a slur. If you’re an elitist calling anyone a redneck, you’re a jackass. Being this far north, I don’t know this guy, his constituents need to hear this and make up their own minds.

It’s my understanding that the original meaning of Red Neck applied to farmers who worked long hours under the sun. When one does this without taking proper precautions, one gets a RED NECK.

It was used by snotty, intellectual by there own definition city dwellers to make fun of the farmer. It’s turned now into being stupid and racist.

The term “redneck” comes from the West Virginia Coal Miners March or the Battle of Blair Mountain when coal miners wore red bandanas around their necks to identify themselves as seeking the opportunity to unionize. The fight occurred in 1921. The bandanas were used so that they could distinguish themselves from the deputies, trying to stop them from forcefully setting up the union.

There are other ways you can help. Where I live (just a couple of states south of you) the Democrats walk around with bag-money on election day to pay off people so they vote Democrat. If they do the same in Kentucky, go to his district that day and try and track down anyone with bag money and make them think you are following their every move that day. Its not easy but it can be done. I have seen it work.

      @ CheezWiz

You are right…I didn’t think of that – I don’t know why they are doing the same thing here in California. Meg Whitman was ahead in the polls and WHAM! A story comes out that she hired an illegal (she says she didn’t know and I believe her) and when she finds out this bit of information fires the illegal and is now being sued by the illegal.

This is outrageous to me…not necessarily the “redneck” comment as much as they don’t respect American voters and I believe they are trying to replacing us by giving amnesty to illegals so THEY can vote.

      @ angrymob
Illegals can get CA driver’s license using fake SS# and no one asks the current CA AG how and why is it happenning ? Why is CA DMV giving out genuine documents to fraudsters ? This AG was the one who refused to even investigate 2 SoCal ACORN offices after they got busted and dumped their documents to get rid of evidence. In fact there is audio of ACORN type people discussing how Brown assured that he won’t investigate ACORN.
Soon Brown will be assisted by Newsom and Kamala Harris will be the new AG, both SF defenders of illegal alien murderers and cop-killers.

I think Democrats are allowing floods of illegals into this country so that one day amnesty will be granted to them…they are potential votes. Some liberals are sick of us Americans because we resist their wacky ideas. I think their solution is to just cancel us out by expanding a different demographic into society that will go along with their ideals.

Illegals cost states money; there’s more crime; and the take away jobs American’s need right now (they don’t just pick fruit). California’s a haven state for this kind of stuff and our state is almost bankrupt as a result.

It‘s going to eventually cripple this country and I’m tired of it.

Call me “*******”, call me “redneck” call me “*********”, just don’t call me a progressive. My family values don’t include “family planning;” I learned to shoot late (in grade school) and had my own gun by junior high (again late) and my parents were married; to eachother; at the time I was created. Therefore, I wouldn’t qualify to be part of their vision of America.

WestOfThePecos: You are 100% correct on the origin of the term “Redneck”. It doesn‘t surprise me that the American public does not know it’s history. Redneck was a positive term, not a slur. While I’m on the subject, While watching a cable channel the other day run the Jeffersons and Good times, hearing them use the term “Honky” illustrated the double standard in the U.S.A. today that you can call white guy anything and get a chuckle, be it Redneck, Honky or *******. Thank you Mr. Half White president for lowering the standard and raising the color barrier to it’s highest level. Vote your brains out on the 2nd. For all you libs out there, they changed the vote date to the 3rd. I didn’t know if you got that memo from moveon.org or not.
