Kenyan Clerics Blast Obama on Gay Marriage Stance: Legalizing What God Himself Objects

The Sunday Nation is reporting that not everyone is pleased with President Obama’s recent endorsement of same-sex marriage– particularly in Kenya, where the president has close family ties.

They explain:

Speaking to the Nation in Mombasa, Council of Imams and Preachers Organising Secretary Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa accused President Obama of playing god by legalizing what “God Himself objects”.

“Simply because he has risen to be the President of a super power does not mean he can now start acting as God. He is nothing in the eyes of God and his plans will not succeed just like those who preceded him in such plans,” said Sheikh Khalifa.

He further accused the Kenya Human Rights Commission of propagating western values at the expense of religion by propagating for same sex marriages and abortion.

“God created man and woman so that we can procreate. How come we now want to behave worse than dogs who do not go for their own gender but know the difference between the two?” asked Sheikh Khalifa [Emphasis added].

However, the LA Times is reporting that one gay activist from Kenya said he was “very excited,“ calling Obama a ”courageous leader.”

“It shows that society has evolved, that our leaders need to evolve, that this needs to be domesticated here in Africa, and in Kenya…” he said.

      Has anyone noticed that the world Muslim leaders have so far remained silent about this? They regularly execute gay people. This issue has got to damage the image of the USA around the world even more than it is already hurt. Muslim leaders are already insulted that the US sends a woman to deal with nthem. In their culture women are possessions to be kept at home.

      Mohammed was Illiterate… could not read the Old Testament… and gave the Koran verbally, as written down by a scribe… so he often got Biblical Passage Wrong… and the Errors are recited by his followers. So, to say that Muslims and any othe JudeoSect reference the same Scripture is in Total Err!

      That’s not surprising at all. Both come from the same historical roots, with the same anarchronistic reactionary philosophy. Christians may have enjoyed a larger degree, on average (and the ones most of us encounter on a daily basis and depicted in the media even more so), of socioecomoic prosperity, which more than anything else sociology has shown is linked to cultural liberalisation (that is to say, deciding maybe democracy, peaceful co-existence, and some equal human rights isn’t such a bad thing–not the capital “L” “liberal” that we use in America to broadly paint anyone “not-Republican”), but this liberalisation, the benefits of which contemporary 1st-world Christians love to talk about as though their religion had ALWAYS been inherently more “humane” than others, has been IN SPITE OF, and not BECAUSE OF, Christian religious traditions (and religious traditions in general). If you need any further proof of that fact, just observe how the bulk of every religious tradition in any given society is almost without exception on the side oppossing any meaningful social change.

If you look to those Christians still living in the 3rd world, the difference between the extremely religiously conservative Muslims, and the extremely religiously conservative Christians, blurs. Most of the Muslim world lives in far lower material standards of living than the average Christian in America or Europe, the ones who are always DEPICTED in the media. And even there, one need not look very far back in history to see examples of arbitrary religious motivated brutality against fellow humans every bit as barbaric as that perpetuated by Muslims. You think your religion is special, but EVERY religion tells its followers it is special–that doesn’t mean it is true.

Obama didn’t legalize ANYTHING, Obama said he is PERSONALLY in support of legalizing homosexual marriage–he ALSO said POLITICALLY that he won’t be doing a damn thing about it, since he doesn‘t thing it’s the “Federal government’s place” to be protecting its citizens from discrimination (which he SUPPOSEDLY thinks is wrong–a bit meaningless if you aren’t going to DO anything about it).

      Yes, I‘m aware that Obama isn’t as Leftist as everyone says or thinks he is, and that his views on gay marriage aren’t SUBSTANTIVELY different than Republicans, in that by choosing to do nothing at the federal level, his personal views on the subject are irrelevant. I also don’t think he SHOULD cherrypick from Christian (or any religious) theology for political points, as I don’t think there is anything SALVAGABLE from that traditions–period. I find Obama’s theism as laughable as the Republicans–Obama just seems to be better at refraining any impulses he might have to CODIFY his professed (ridiculous) beliefs, and is on the whole more reasonable.

      Agree , except don’t forget to factor in that Far Left Marxism atheism . That is a huge factor in the thinking of the elite, arrogant, atheists who think they are smarter than any “ imaginary ” god or any of the ignorant, misguided, non-elite who may be deluded to believe in a god. ( lower case..that is where they place the idea of God ) These people are part of Obama’s base : along with the dysfunctional, the angry, the Marxists, the anti-America/ capitalists, the Hate the Rich, the Gimme Stuff , the I Have Nothing Better to Do With My Time Than Occupy Public Space …..
