KFC Squashes ‘Obama’ in Bizarre Chinese TV Commercial

Is KFC threatening Barack Obama with a giant chicken sandwich? I don’t know, but I can say that around the time Chinese President Hu Jintao visited America a few weeks ago, KFC ran a commercial in Hong Kong using an Obama look-a-like (and the “change” phrase) to sell a new chicken sandwich. And it features that look-a-like getting pummeled by said sandwich:
According to KFC parent-company spokesman, the commercial is just supposed to be a commercial, and there’s no hidden message.
“It was meant to be a spoof and no disrespect was intended,” a spokesman for Yum! Brands, which operates KFC said in a statement. “It is no longer airing and will not be re-aired”
According to the New York Daily News, KFC is one of the most popular food chains in China.
But the oddest part may be the company‘s decision to use Obama to hock fast food despite Michelle Obama’s anti-junk-food position. I guess that viewpoint got “lost in translation.”

His family practically live on fast food and the Chinese are not stupid they can see right through the front the Obama’s are trying to put up. The whole reason that Michele is pushing this obesity thing is to lower the demand for fast food so there will be more for them and with lower demand lower prices lol!

It seems my 2nd grade son came home today and is learning how to speak/write Chinese in school and that means “happy Chinese new year”. This kid has barely grasped the English we speak at home and learning CHINESE???
Am I really the only parent to question the direction of our public school system? Do any other parents notice what is happening here, anyone care???
I remember learning about Constitution, Founding Fathers and this seems odd to me, respond with any advice or similar stories. I‘m in Florida and we’re no socialist state down here from what I see.

…and locally the KFC of Smyrna Tn. decided to not carry a free conservitave newspaper (The Rutherford Reader) after a winey@$$ muslam POS complained they were running offencive articals. ~several local places stopped carrieng the paper , I dont shop or deal with any of them & let them know it & why! …the Rutherford Reader was & is publishing facts about islam rather than the usual religon of peace lies.

Chinese would be welcome, as I think there are already enough Spanish speakers, and Chinese is more marketable, globally. Also, the Spanish-speaking kids aren’t getting much benefit out of it, are they? I’ve brought these 2 reasons to the attention of the school. Usually they just wish I would shut up.

My Chinese daughter is 28 and still unmarried, because she has been totally business oriented all her life, and now also worries about taking care of her aging parents who are in their 50′s!!!!! Okay so they go to KFC as it is a neutral place to meet people that they are thinking of as potential marriage partners. We tease our girl all the time that she needs to stay away from KFC and concentrate on business, since she provides a service to our company..but it is just in fun…I think Barack Obama is a joke to a lot of foreign countries, he just hasn’t gotten it yet…to many YES men around him and no one has told him…If you don’t stand for something “you stand for nothing at all”…You can’t play both sides of the table…it just comes back to bite you in the butt.

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 5:57amI’ve visited China several times and found the average Chinese people loved Americans (while hating the Japanese for their treatment of China in WW2…), but today, the government of China seems to be going out of its way to promote Chinese ascendancy at America’s expense.
KFC is wildly successful in China – & a lot of that has to do with Col. Sanders’ image looking like a wise old Chinese man to them.
Could it be that KFC is feeling some pressure from the Chinese government for being an American company – so they made this commercial to ‘distance’ themselves from America by doing a ‘smackdown’ on Obama?
Although Obama was an unknown when I was last there, I”m pretty certain there aren’t a lot of liberals in China who would admire him. Everyone I met and talked with there loved capitalism. I very much doubt that anyone in China was offended by this commercial, but neither will I be surprised to hear that KFC ends up being somehow ‘punished’ by the whitehouse. If this had happened to the Clintons, KFC would have been audited for years afterwards.
