Kim Kardashian Sues Old Navy Over Lookalike in Ads

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kim Kardashian wants Old Navy to stop using a lookalike to sell its clothing.

The reality show starlet and model on Wednesday sued the clothing store and its parent company, The Gap Inc., in a Los Angeles federal court alleging their ads violated Kardashian’s publicity rights.

The advertisements that aired earlier this year featured a young dark-haired woman who bears a resemblance to the real Kardashian.

Gap spokeswoman Louise Callagy says the company has not yet seen the case and had no comment.

Kardashian‘s lawsuit claims consumers may be confused by the ads and the model’s actual endorsements, which include her own clothing store and shoe line.

It seeks unspecified damages and an order preventing Old Navy from using a Kardashian-lookalike model in ads again.

    Just one more sign that the Apocalypse is upon us: a no talent, nearly brainless, not very cute “reality show starlet” like Kim Kardashian not only makes millions of dollars, but is so famous that a major retailer has employed a look-alike for her in one of its ads….INCREDIBLE.

    Well, that’s new. I’m suing because that person looks a lot like me. Only I can look like me!
    If Old Navy didn’t say it was Kim Kard, then an honest judge should probably just throw it out of court.
    I’ve heard of Kard, but never seen her before. If they asked me who they were in that photo, I wouldn‘t know either one from any other model I’ve never heard of. Just plain old greed or is she just extremely vain?

    Kardashi-who? Anyone who thinks those girls(not woman) have anything more than a sugar-daddy daddy is fooling themselves. Here’s lies hero-worship at it’s very worse. I would rather watch the Osbornes if they were still on—at least their family is talented to some extent. Were as the Kardi’s have no talent—just a washed-up metro-sexual that can’t say NO to his twisted spawn with none to speak of, unless you count that flop of a shop they couldn’t manage.

    She probably wouldn‘t care if she didn’t have her own clothing store and shoe line, that’s what this is really about. She thinks that these ads are taking away the little market share that she’s acquired by after basically stepping on their turf in the first place. She’s probably mad because this major franchise has been offering affordable styles while the price structure of her own product line has been too expensive in comparison, so rather than improving her own marketing strategy, she tried to damage the competition with this shameless act which has been established by her own baseless claims. A woman that ‘looks’ like her? Give me a break. There are plenty of Egyptian women that ‘look’ like her naturally, they shouldn’t have to change their natural appearance simply because she makes some baseless claim.

    This story is pathetic. She makes a freakin‘ fortune and she’s marrying a rich athlete. This isn’t going to hurt her any. Or is she too good for Old Navy and thinks it will hurt her image? She needs to get over herself. Hate to burst her bubble, but she’s not that cute….or very bright, for that matter. But what do I know?

    I watched the ad. I see what Kim is so upset about. The “look-alike” is way hotter and actually has some talent. I‘d be PO’d too. I hope the look-alike makes it big, and Kim can go home.

    Several years ago, Wilford Brimley sued Hardees/Carls jr. over the use of a lookalike actor. He won the case and the poor guy lost his job, and hardees had to stop airing the commercial. Also, remember a couple years ago E-trade had a “milkaholic” baby named lindsey in one of their ads. Lindsey lohan sued, claiming the ad was directed at her, and she won. The inmates are running the asylum! The court system is rife with frivolous suits, and The system is broken.

    I didn’t know that you could copyright your own body and make it a trademark. I’m sure she can get some bloodsucking lawyer to work it up for her. Frivoulous Bee-yotch.

    If I were the judge I’d not only throw the case out of court, I’d make Kardashian pay court costs.
