Koran Burning Investigation Clears U.S. Troops of Any Disrespect Toward Islam

Barack Obama’s apology over a Koran burning at Bagram Air Field may have been completely wasted — a NATO/Afghan panel convened to look into the incident has just announced that while the disposal of the Koran was “improper,” it had nothing to do with anti-Muslim bigotry. The Washington Times elaborates:

“It did find that there were some U.S. personnel who did improperly treat these religious texts, including some of their supervisory personnel,” said Navy Capt. John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman. “And it recommended that they be reviewed for potential disciplinary action.”

The Korans ended up in an incinerator after Afghan prisoners were found using the holy books to pass messages to one another.

The books were confiscated and later ended up in an incinerator, where Afghan workers at the disposal site discovered the Korans burning and pulled them out of the incinerator.

In other words, the report confirms what has been known for weeks – the books weren’t burned out of spite against Islam. They were burned because potential terrorists were using them as a means to communicate without American knowledge. So with NATO and the Afghan Government accepting this interpretation, the question still lingers: why did the White House apologize for what was arguably an impolitic, but nevertheless necessary confiscation of tools for passing information?

So, put the guys on the first airplane out of there and let them disappear into the homeland. I also think all of the Afghans shouls wake up one morning to FIND EVERY AMERICAN GONE, and everything we left behind on fire. It should be a surprise. We are only there now to let them have a target.

But the troops should disrespect Islam. In fact they should absolutely detest Islam. It is an abomination to all that is good and was responsible for 9/11 and the murders of millions over the centuries. If the troops respect Islam then they are either dhimmis, ignorant or no good rotten SOBs.

If we had a Commander in Chief that was loyal to our military he would demand an appology for the actions that followed this trumped up mess against our troops. If we had a Commander in Chief that knew what he was doing he would have never backed down in the first place. He seems to jump to conclusions before he has the facts. He and Hillary need to think before they spew their negative comments against our soldiers without all of the information at hand.

Um, so what if it HAD been the result of anti-Muslim bigotry? Why can those rich, hippy kids burn the American Flag and NOT get anything but praise for being so brave in exercising their rights, but the Koran burning is investigated?

HAVE YOU ALL LOST YOUR MINDS? Why aren’t you SCREAMING about this injustice against YOU? Do you know WHY all the nations in the West PANDER to the Muslims? Its because the Muslims have the COURAGE to say NO, YOU WON’T DISRESPECT US!

Oh young Mr. Holt. This “fact ” was reported by all the major news agencies 3 weeks ago.

What were the messages? Were the messages translated? Were they nothing more than annotations about the meaning of certain scriptures? It would certainly seem prudent to find this out instead of burning the holy books.

And wasn’t the apology an attempt to lessen the belligerency against US service personnel (how can you tell a politician is lying? His lips are moving)? How many more deaths of coalition members will eventually be caused by the burning. Such a thoughtless act.

How are you going to win hearts and minds if you do not respect the people who those hearts and minds belong too?

Marking/writing in a koran for any reason (except students writing their name inside the cover) is considered a desecration of the koran, yet mooslims in Pakistan routinely use old korans as toilet paper and they end up tossed into canals, but there is no outrage over that strangely enough. The name calling is low and makes you seem a bit uneducated. All I did was present facts with sources.
All I asked was that if I was wrong, some one please let me know by posting facts with links to sources as well.

A socialist or fascist would be unshakable in their beliefs, I’m not. I am open to other opinions.

Fascism – often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
      2
: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control

Doesn’t sound like me. I am proud to have a voice and to be able to vote for anybody that I want. No man is infallible, only God is. So is Reagan a god? He messed up sometimes, we all do.

If you don’t have any facts to counter, than why waste your energy responding? It makes you look sad. Especially when you spout out typical far right hyperbole like that.

I was in the USAF under Regan during the cold WAR. We held the (propaganda vs truth) line that enables us to fight today. We were the smartest most educated armed forces with no other group coming close. No Regan was not God. But his words and speeches will echo through time wherever FREEDOM exist. The point is my age group born 1965 were the abused children of the hippies era. We worked harder than ANY other generation having a huge number of latch-key children who were left in the world to bring themselves up. If you wanted something even clothes you worked for it and bought it yourself. I have not been out of work more than 3 months sense I had a paper route at age aprox 10? We knew and felt the policies of President Carter. The gas lines, riding your bike to the store to get milk seeing the prices go up. This was the life the children of the 70s lived. We saw the unions corrupt parents so that dads who were laid off REFUSED to get lesser paying jobs and it was us who saw the stay at home mothers go to work for the first time while fathers refused. Many of those union workers now own companies and pay their employees less than they made in the sixties and seventies. Thus the plight of printers row and the printing industry. Around 1970 it was still very much like it was 1950. Most families still had black/white tvs. We saw the technology age come in, calculators, pong, home computers. Point? My generation will give our lives for freedom cost what it cost.

I agree that Reagan was a great president and gave important speeches. I admire him very highly. My point was never to bash him, just point out his bad choice. I come from a working class family. My great grandfather fought in WW1 my grandfather, WW2, and my father in Vietnam. We hold very conservative beliefs, but never marched blindly. As a fellow soldier, you should know that you never go to battle without doing some home work, be it on the enemy or perhaps the terrain.

Everything I have in life I had to work for. Even at a young age(5), I was expected to do chores. My mother paid me for my work by letting me pick out a toy at the toy store once a week. Nothing grand, usually just a GI Joe or a Transformer.

I have worked tirelessly to provide for my family and will do so until the day I die. I don’t believe in retirement. If your heart still beats, you can do some form of work. I am instilling the same work ethic in my son now. There are far too many that have silver spoons in their mouths and feel way too entitled.

I am just seeking truth in this world, and again, it’s not always what we want to hear.

Could you point out Mullah Omar in any of your “photographic evidence?”
If you want to do some real research on the Taliban you would want to check the history of Afganistan as was written before 9-11-2001.
You will probably find that the Taliban didn’t get started until 1994 and they had a lot of help from Pakistan.
If you want to find someone calling the Taliban “Freedom Fighters” since 9-11-2001, look to the left, or their Jihadi pals.
Both groups dream of the freedom to tell everyone else what to think, say, and do.
