Kraft Drops Conservative Lobbying Group Over Voter ID and ‘Stand Your Ground’ Laws

Following in the footsteps of Coca Cola Co. and Pepsi Co., Kraft Foods has announced that it will not be renewing its membership with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).

This is the most recent company to part ways with the conservative group.

Voter ID and “Stand Your Ground” laws have been under fierce attack for the past couple of months. By extension, groups associated with these laws, most notably ALEC, have also come under fire from activists and activists groups.

For instance, while making an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Ed Show,” President Obama’s former “green” jobs czar Van Jones (who seems to be just about everywhere these days) claimed ALEC was responsible for the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin.

“Listen, Trayvon, that child died, the police said we can’t put the killer in jail because of this stand your ground, kill at will law,” Van Jones said.

“It came from ALEC. Trayvon’s not safe walking to the store. His mom’s not safe walking to the voting booth because of the voting disenfranchisement laws. And a Latino is not safe walking to work because of the same thing. They are in grave danger of having their brands tarnished,” he added.

Watch the Van Jones interview (via MMFA):

Anti-ALEC activists succeeded in pressuring Pepsi Co. to pull support from ALEC in January and Coca Cola Co. was convinced by Color of Change (yes, that Color of Change) to cut ties earlier this week.

And now Kraft has jumped ship.

“Kraft said in a statement that it has ‘made the decision not to renew’ its ALEC membership, which is expiring,” the Chicago Tribune reports.

“The company, based in north suburban Northfield, was opaque in its reasoning, citing ‘limited resources’ and saying that its involvement with ALEC ‘has been strictly limited to discussions about economic growth and development, transportation and tax policy,’” the report adds.

Wait. What?

“Limited resources”? Kraft Foods is citing “limited resources” as a reason for not renewing membership with ALEC?

“The withdrawals pleased ALEC detractors, which includes the Center for Media and Democracy,” the Tribune reports.

“The liberal-leaning nonprofit said it had launched a protest campaign in tandem with Color of Change opposing what it said were ALEC’s efforts to deny climate change, undermine public schools and encourage laws that would require voters to present various forms of identification before voting,” the report adds.

Lets see, If you ask some one to prove who they are in order to vote it is discrimination. But if you are white walking down the street minding your own business and a policeman decides to ask you for ID and you don’t have it with you its a crime? Something is wrong with this picture!
Oh I get it. They want to be able to cheat on elections so that is why they do not want voter ID laws!
      Well that clears that up.

True words, JENNY! I have started cooking almost entirely from scratch as I keep losing track of who I’ve boycotted and knowing which brands the big names own. In the last month, I’ve given up entirely store-bought bread and crackers. I just learned how to make homemade Cheez-its that are delicious. We are eating healthier and feel better while we boycott the leftist corporations who put chemicals and other crap in their packaged, preservative-laden “food” to begin with. Cook from scratch…..it really easier than you think!

While we’re at it, let’s boycott any company or product that is NOT advertised on Rush Limbaugh. If we act as a collective, we can force the companies to do our bidding, just as media matters did to Glenn and Rush’s advertisers. Simply in reverse.

Where are all these boycotts coming from. How is it that suddenly so many businesses are under attack? Could it be that since this generation has turned its back on God, we are being given over to lawlessness as the bible predicts?
“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matt 24:12)

Before you discount this as irrelevant consider that in the New Testament, one of the names for Satan is “the man of lawlessness”
“The coming of the [lawless one] is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders” (2 Thess 2:9)

Look at how many stories involve the out right opposition to the rule of law.
      European riots over austerity laws,
      The Arab Spring,
      OWS,
      Wisconsin Statehouse occupation,
      Fast and Furrious,
      NBPP bounty….etc.
Look at all of these boycotts; Sanford, Rush Limbaugh, OWS anti-banking, Obamacare, anti-Exxon, Solyndra antics. Already your ability to buy and sell is being affected by which side of the Lawless political devide you are on.
“and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”(Rev 13:17 “)
AntiChrist also refers to being pseudo or an imitation Christ.
Is “I AM the 99%” Satan‘s Imitation of Christ’s own “I AM the way” title?
“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains [will do so] until He is taken out of the way.” (2 Thess 2:7)
What is this restrainer you ask?

Not a problem. I cook 90% from scratch anyway. Hardly ever buy the so called convenience foods as they cost more when you consider the volume in the pkg. I now go to the health food store and buy their bulk items. So, I don’t buy pepsi or cola & never a Kraft product when I can substitute it with anything else that is probably better tasting anyway. Many store brands are good too.

We all check out the label to see “what’s in it” and now just look for the mfg. and don‘t buy those you don’t like. Simple. We rarely eat out because I’m so particular about ingredients in my food. It simply gets to be a way of life to try to eat better.

Kraft, Coca-Cola, and Pepsi should check out the web site “politicususa” also Jason Easley on twitter who tags along like a caboose to Color of Change these corporations need to get a load of what and who these “boycotters” are REALLY about.
These corporations Kraft, Coca-Cola, and Pepsi will be very embarrassed that they have allowed themselves to be blackmailed by a very small group of radicals that have USED them and are now making FOOLS OF THEM on line and on social media formats in the process. They talk about making these corporations “Toe The Line” and about FORCING them to comply to their wishes or else!

They actually think they will be able to shut down Koch Industries and Walmart!

      Uproarious laughter!

Jason clearly states who he is and what he is and he hates corporations and wants to destroy capitalism!
The occupiers who don’t buy anything and they contribute NOTHING to society the makers the corporations are being used like puppets by the TAKERS/OWS!

Why ANY CORPORATION would allow someone like this to use them is beyond belief do they not do their research?
Why would ANY corporation want to align themselves with any of these people?
Do they honestly think aligning themselves with blackmailers, and people who harass and threaten them will HELP their brand?

      CATB,

You do remember that the “Food Safety Modernization Act” provided the FDA a means to search, sieze, and recall food products without probable cause.

This means that the polical machine can coerce the food producers at will. I think that is what we are seeing happen. A boycott is nothing compared to a fabricated “food scare” and the possible ramifications that can be levied against a company – large or small.

Its a no-win situation for the Food industry. The leftist brownshirt “thugs” will attack a group’s political associations to target laws such as “stand your ground”. This is meant to demonize a subject and co-opt companies based on their political activities. If that company stands its own ground and resists – then the FDA steps in and unleashes some real pain. The FDA doesn’t have to give a reason, nor report on findings. These companies no longer have any recourse for Federal actions against them in the name of “Food Safety”.

If these huge corporate entities play along, then the Gov can throw them a bone by destroying the smaller players and hand them over to the mega-corps to keep centralizing production – which makes this system work even easier for the usurpers.

Its no wonder we see the Big Tobacco and Big Food companies jumping ALEC’s ship first. Both have sucessfully been collectivised into “System X”.

How many of you know that Kraft, is actually owned by Altria Group?

Altria used to be Phillip Morris Tobacco.

Brand name isn’t indicative of any independence anymore. Most brands are owned by mega-huge conglomerates who leave you with little actual choice. You never imagined the folks who gave you Marlboros actually owned Velveeta cheese too? Oh yeah.

These Mega-corps know which side of their bread the butter is on – and that is the side of big government.

Wake up folks, buy local and buy independent – and know the difference. Your dollars are just as important in voting as your political ballot. Choose well and get informed.

Yes, let’s boycott them, not just the parent company, but their wholly owned subsidiaries, like the fast food companies owned by Pepsico, and the other brands. More important, everyone should get two or three others to boycott them and keep on spreading it. The principle of Free Speech includes being responsible for the consequences of that speech. Everyone should write to these companies, and then encourage others to write them, and tell them of the plan to boycott their products.

Those that buy into the “change” thing and the “rainbow” thing and the “collective salvation” thing are on the winning side; all others will suffer the wrath of the liberal media and big gov’s retaliation. The FIX is in and the set up has been brought to you by 80+ years of liberal progressive democratic rule in our cities. The scenario culminates in economic collapse and loss of the nation.

Cold cereal was for camping trips, soda and chips were rare treets, and I cooked from scratch. I think I had some kind of world record for feeding six people with one pound of hamburger. Macaroni and I had a real relationship.

OK boys and girls, the lines are being drawn… Since companies those who think we can’t live without them are taking sides, which side are we taking? When push comes to shove to save our Republic, is it worth a diet coke? Compounded with the rest of those companies which have made their side known? How much are we willing to do without to save us?

It is going to get really tough. There are already so many day to day products on my list that I will not support. What is it worth to us really? How much discomfort and inconvenience are we really willing to “sacrifice”. The lines are being drawn, do we have what it takes to resist, to do without? We better be willing or we may as well pack it up now

Here we go again. Another major company, another cave to pressure. I emailed coke yesterday and the response I got in a nutshell was that they do not get involved in politics, blah blah blah.. Really? Someone please explain to me how caving to pressure from the left turds regarding boycotts is not political. I said on another website ( Breitbart ) that it’s game on. This is such BS, PC run amock. I’m sick of it. The war has begun.

I will use my limited resources to boycott Kraft, Pepsi Cola, and Coca Cola. Maybe some other conservatives will join me.

We better all be in or we will fail. If those companies want to come down on the side of the leftists, we better be willing to let them be completely supported by purchases by the leftists only. Past time for the rubber to hit the road. Isour Republic worth doing without, kraft mac & cheese and the scores of other products they sell, Arbys, Home Depot, Nordstrom, Obey, Starbucks, the list is sooooo long I can’t even list them all…..

Sweet. Looks like this guy is about to cash in on some sweet deals on Coke and Mac and cheese. Your conservative boycotts are ALWAYS totally effective, so I’m gonna save my nickles and dimes and wait for the supply to bulge and prices to plummet.

Oh please, as if Kraft and their “cheesiest” would ever survive under Michelle or Obamacare. Have you seen the fat content in their processed foods??

as I said on another thread, I don’t do boycotts, the reason is, that most companies are owned by comcolmerates so your not just boycotting one product. Also, the left does this kind of nonsence, and I think we are better than the left!
