Since news analyst and Fox News contributor Juan Williams was dismissed from NPR for expressing an opinion, questions have arisen over the NPR’s “editorial standards,” specifically why NPR correspondent Nina Totenberg remains employed by NPR after making comments such as suggesting Republican Jesse Helms and his grandchildren be afflicted with AIDs.
Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer didn’t hesitate to ask Totenberg herself during an appearance on Inside Washington:

That would turn them livid.

Taxpayer funding, how little it may be, should cease. These issues always remind me of the publicly funded NY art show which displayed a black and white photo of a guy with a bull whip lodged in his buttocks which was claimed “fine art” ??? Duh.
Toto, Am I back in Kansas? Please tell me this is a dream.

Posted on October 23, 2010 at 6:32pmThe key is to continue to answer the question. Use Glenn’s method, keep pounding, like when he was on the hammer and anvil kick. Keep pounding, in a professional, positive manner. Look, it worked with Soros, he’s coming out of the shadows with the money. If you keep asking the question, eventually the answer will be, ‘some of our “important” donors were discouraged with Juan’s positions on “certain” news outlets.‘ It’s no coincidence this happened a day after Soros put the bounty out on FNC and a week after he gave money to NPR. We need to keep applying pressure!

Posted on October 23, 2010 at 6:26pmInteresting how the other panelists run interference for Ms. Totenberg after Charles asks her to explain why she and JW are treated differently. She doesn’t even try to explain (because she can’t) and if you notice her body language after the question she looks obviously uncomfortable.

Posted on October 23, 2010 at 6:20pmI deeply respect Mr Krauthammer speaking up for his friend and colleague, Mr Williams. When asked a direct question, the Left does not give a direct answer…they deflect, redirect and cast blame else.
More and more folks are talking out about this, not just on television and on the web…but during conversations. The more the Left crawls out into the light of day, the more everyday Americans will see them in the true light for what they are, right?

Posted on October 23, 2010 at 6:09pmI have to disagree. Juan was fired for the subject matter, not because he’s black. The woman said she hoped Jessie Helms (a white christian) got AIDES or one of his grandchildren did and NOTHING was done about that. Juan’s comment was about Muslims. Its politically incorrect to say ANYTHING against Muslims. THAT’S why Juan was fired.

Since when do the feelings of a Muslim take precedence over the feelings of Americans? I‘m not gettin’ it here. Do we get the same courtesy in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country? I don’t think so. Juan was just expressing his opinion and I believe the opinion of the majority of Americans. This politically correct thing is getting a mite ridiculous.

She made the comment about NPR using rules that do not exist anymore. In this case she is right, they will fire someone who will not tow their Progressive lines; there are no blurred lines, truth is truth, light is light, and lies are lies.
Mr Williams has shown the world the difference between having ethics and integrity and what the Progressives demand of all – absolute unwavering obediance or you will be disciplined.

Posted on October 24, 2010 at 12:16amI just want to point out one irrationality in Juan Willliams controversial statement. Islamic extremists who have committed acts or terrorism have always done everything to NOT look Islamic. The 9-11 terrorists shaved and wore American business casual to not raise suspicion. The O’Keefe guy did not wear pimp clothes when the videos were made (the pimp and ****** outfit video was made another time and edited in to make it like that’s what he wore, as the DAs discovered when they watched the unedited video). He was dressed as yuppie when he actually conducted the video. Same with the Holocaust museum murderer and Byron Williams, the acolyte who went to murder Tides and ACLU members, same with people who kill doctors who perform abortion. There are others but they know one simple terrorist fact: look normal and don’t raise red flags by you appearance.
Juan Williams statement reflected his fears but it wasn’t rational. The people who express their beliefs in their clothing aren’t the ones that are going to kill innocent people.

Juan Williams has always acted like a gentleman, he has always been respectful of others who think differently, and he should get the same respect. That’s the way it works. Something the liberal base among us haven’t and probably never will understand. They will eat their young if they don’t tow the line…and that’s exactly what they did to Juan…period. Like Beck always says…put it out in the open…at least be honest, and then we can have a debate about it. All of the people over at NPR are frauds…and Juan should take a good long look at the people he is leaving behind. Juan is not a Liberal…he may have many liberal views, but he has too much class to be put in their basket…Welcome to FOX! The only station that you are still able to give your honest opinion without the fear of being fired, or ridiculed.
