Krauthammer: Daniels‘ GOP Response ’One of the Best’

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has resorted to “extremism” with stifling, anti-growth policies and continually tries dividing Americans, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels said Tuesday in the formal Republican response to the president’s State of the Union address.
Eight months after deciding not pursue a bid for his party’s presidential nomination, Daniels used his nationally televised speech to lash out at Obama and cast the GOP as compassionate and eager to unchain the country’s economic potential.
“No feature of the Obama presidency has been sadder than its constant effort to divide us, to curry favor with some Americans by castigating others,” Daniels said, according to excerpts of his remarks released before he and Obama actually spoke. “As in previous moments of national danger, we Americans are all in the same boat.”
Obama’s address, and Daniels’ speech, come at the dawn of a presidential and congressional election year in which the defining issues are the faltering economy and weak job market.
Obama was ready to describe his vision of attaining “an economy built to last” and an emphasis on fairness, which includes protecting the middle class and making sure the rich pay an equitable share of taxes. Led by Daniels, Republicans were firing back that it was their party, not Obama’s, that understood the best way to trigger economic growth was to get the government out of the way.
“The extremism that stifles the development of homegrown energy,or cancels a perfectly sane pipeline that would employ tens of thousands, or jacks up consumer utility bills for no improvement in either human health or world temperature, is a pro-poverty policy,” Daniels said.
He said Republicans prefer “a passionate pro-growth approach that breaks all ties and calls all close ones in favor of private sector jobs that restore opportunity for all and generate the public revenues to pay our bills.”

The problem was worsened by their bailout, then worsened still by Obamas “stimulus”. The dominoes are still falling. Croney capitalism and class warfare are making them worse, Regulations are handcuffing innovation and any growth becsue we are NOT a FREE Society now!
We are BROKE and pretending we have money. As soon as the SHTF we will be so far in debt that we will not be able to even pay our troops or bring them home from the 180 Countries and 900 bases around the world. It will cost a days wages for a loaf of bread, if you can still find bread! The streets will be awashed with blood and the big cities will burn to the ground because people will rebel. They have had that Government largess for too long and they will be really mad when they cannot get it. They will riot and loot…Many will die.
Our only hope it to return to the Constitution. There is ONLY ONE man who wants to do that. The others will only give the Constitution lip service. And they call him a nutjob. Then they point out his foriegn policy…The ONLY foriegn policy that is actually Constitutional! They think what the Constitution says regarding war is dumb???

Report Post »Coral Gables, FL – Newt Gingrich released the following statement responding to President Obama’s State of the Union address:
We have a crisis of work in this country and tonight President Obama proposed nothing in the way of policy changes that will get us to robust job creation and dramatic economic growth.
Instead, the president described his conviction that his big government is built to last and should be paid for with higher taxes.
But bigger government and higher taxes will not lead to jobs and growth. Bigger government and higher taxes will instead lead to more people on food stamps, a situation which the President and his party defend as a fair outcome.
Here we have to confront the truth about President Obama. Economic growth and prosperity is not really at the top of his agenda. He will always prefer a food stamp economy to a paycheck economy and call it fair.
For the president and a large part of the political class, it’s about their power, their right to rule. They just want to take money from Joe the Plumber – the small business people who makes over 90 per cent of the new jobs — and redistribute it to the government bureaucracy and their political friends and allies. That’s why so much of that nearly trillion-dollar stimulus didn’t create jobs but just went into the pockets of special interests who support President Obama and the leadership of the Democratic Party… http://www.newt.org/new

Posted on January 25, 2012 at 9:11amits not obamas fault or bush’s fault. it would have happened no matter which party was in office as it was ultimately caused by keynesian economics. both parties have subscribed to this economic theory that says you can spend your way to success. the debt has been increasing exponentially for over 50 years. we were able to have a prosperous 50s and 60s as all of our overseas competition was busy rebuilding from ww2. funny how nobody brings up how things stagnated in the usa once the european country’s economies started to recover from the war. since then our debt has done nothing but spiral up.

So I got a question for all of you Paul supporters. Please keep in mind that for the most part I do like a lot of what Paul says. Anyway so lets say Paul gets the nomination and actually wins and is our next president. I want to ask you what you really think is going to happen? Do you really believe that anyone in congress on either party is going to go along with anything he wants to do? How exactly is Paul going to get anything done when you can bet your life that Congress will not be on board with him? How is that going to be any better that what we have now? I am not asking this to bash anyone I seriously want to know how you think he is going to get this agenda of his and yours accomplished. As much as BHO likes to think that the office of the president is all powerful it isn’t right now and it takes more than one man.

First off we would no longer be looking for wars, and if congress wants another war they would have to vote to declare it… the constitutional way.
Bad legislation would require a veto over ride, which would probably stop a lot of what’s been happening in regards to out of control spending.
The bully pulpit would be in the hands of someone who can explain to the people just what would be wrong with the proposals congress comes up with instead of someone who spews the progressive party line.
The Patriot Act and the NDAA would be left in the hands of someone who actually believes in the Bill of Rights.
Basically if nothing else, Ron Paul would be a fire wall, and we sure would be better off with that than someone who who tows the progressive line.

He capped the property taxes to force schools to operate inside a budget, he got us school vouchers for failing schools and a tax credit for home-schoolers. He’s trying to get us right to work which is highly unpopular, and he’s lowered the tax rate for businesses to try to grow jobs. Our state would have been in the red because of all of the unemployment but now we have a surplus. Posted on January 25, 2012 at 2:56amAgreed w/ K-hammer; I was very impressed w/ his response! Daniels knocked it out of the park! Obama’s big govt, nanny state philosophy has no place in the USA. .
Daniels took the high road yet called ‘O out on his leftist policies.
Obama’s divide & conquer/ class warfare tactics r shameful. The US is a land of opportunity if one works hard enough.
I was born in the ghetto/barrios of Richmond, CA; raised in the slums of Oakland & San Jose yet rose above it to become an Army officer & eventually retire by age 44 w/ a six figure retirement salary. At one point I was a free lunch, food stamp kid but my single mom fought thru that & after a few months we landed on our feet.
The dream is attainable if one works hard, plays by the rules & never gives up.
Even though I paid into it for nearly 30 yrs, I have to agree w/ Daniels & others, if one has done well & is able to retire w/ $80K+ per year of retirement w/out social security then we should forego taking our social security.
This Nation is the land of opportunity for those willing to work for it.

Before I could support him for president, would need to know a lot more about his stance on social issues. Having all the money in the world won’t save a country with no moral foundation. It takes morals to keep and grow finances after you get them, otherwise it’s simply squandered away.

Report Post »The Republican elite plan to go to a brokered election should Romney fail in Florida and put up, of all people, Jeb Bush or a “Mitch Daniels”, going the route of the Democrats Super Delegate Convention that led to the election of Barack Obama. Therefore, those who run Washington and the GOP will throw a hissy fit if their chosen candidate “Mitt Romney” does not perform and will simply negate the votes of the people, and put in whomever they chose – a losing proposition no matter which way the wind blows and they know it. With no love lost on Republicans, Andrea Mitchell appears to know it as well, almost gleefully quoting the source.

Here is a guy with a plan. I feel he thinks like the rest of us that our goverment has gone to far and that It’s already to late. Wake up people !!!!! If we don’t start demanding the truth and real results from out elected legistators this next go around. I‘m afraid we won’t have a second chance to go around. Tha GOP needs to listen to mitch and others in the party like him and Christy or they don’t have a snow balls chance in America. Because we have turned into Hell !!!! God save us all !!!! Get on your knees and pray for forgivness and redemption for our county or the good Lord will leave us to rot in our own stupidity !!!!

I mean really….. where is Mitch Daniels, Marco Rubio, or even Christy? If they are truly patriots, step up, stand up and join the fight. What do we have today, Mitt, Newt, and Rick…. and a kook called Paul. COME ON MITCH!!! STAND UP AND JOIN THE FIGHT!

Posted on January 25, 2012 at 4:45amI agree. We hear them say that this is the most important election in this nations history. I’m sure they follow the news and polls like many others do. If the republican party is so concerned then why are they not uniting to put the best canidate in place. Thier bickering and division will be just as much to blame as BHO. BHO was ripe for defeat several months ago when this process started but the republical establishment is letting it slip away. It’s 2008 all over again when McCain received the nomination. We most certainly are in the end times and tryin to make sure I’m ready for the Rapture while tryin to bring others to the Lord. Sharing God’s word is pretty cool!
