Krauthammer Embarrassed by Scale of U.S. Apology for Koran Burning, Asks When Islamic Nations Will Apologize for the Killing of Christians

Krauthammer Asks When Islamic Nations Will Apologize for the Killing of Christians

Appearing on Fox News’ Special Report Friday, conservative Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer was blunt in his opinion of U.S. Defense and White House officials emphatically apologizing to Muslims for the burning of Korans that took place on a NATO base early this week.

“That was embarrassing what we saw. We have gone from apology here to abject self-debasement and groveling, and groveling to whom? To the mob,” Krauthammer said in reaction to remarks made by acting Assistant Defense Secretary Peter Lavoy Friday. ”We should have had a single apology coming from the commander on the ground and that’s it. Not from the Secretary of Defense, not from the President of all people”

Thousands of angry Afghans have been protesting since Tuesday when word spread that the Islamic holy book and other religious materials were inadvertently burned by U.S. forces at a NATO military base in Afghanistan. Since the anti-U.S. demonstrations began Tuesday, hundreds have been wounded and at least 28 people have been killed, including two Americans.

Krauthammer cited the hypocrisy in the immediate apology to Muslims all over the world for the accidental yet inappropriate disposal of Korans, compared to the unequal reaction from Muslim leaders to atrocities committed against Christians in the name of radical Islam:

“This is a world in which nobody asked the Islamic Conference, a grouping of the 56 Islamic countries, to issue an apology when Christians are attacked and churches are burned in Egypt or in Pakistan. And had we heard a word from any Islamic leader anywhere about the radical Muslims in Nigeria who are not only burning the churches, but burning women and children who are in the churches, when I hear that, I’ll expect my president to start issuing apologies.”

Mediaite video of Krauthammer’s reaction and discussion with Fox News Panelists Tucker Carlson and Kirsten Powers:

If Bibles were accidently burned by the Afghan military, the United States would quietly, politely explain that such action was offensive to Christians and firmly ask that it not happen again.

The United States accidentally burns copies of the Koran and 1000’s of Afghans & Islamists become a violent mob rioting in the streets, killing people, destroying property and shouting “Death to America”.

And let’s not forget the fact that large numbers of Christians are being arrested, tortured and murdered throughout the Middle East.

      Apologize? I think not.

@MidWestMom—Awhile back the U.S. troops were told to remove Christian Bibles so as not to offend others. They were told it was their possibility of trying to convert the locals. The U.S. Government in their infinite wisdom were going to send the bibles back to the U.S. church’s. Some one suggested(liberals) that the church’s would only send them back to the troops and that, then the government would be accused of supporting religion and offend the locals. The solution that was achieved was, that the U.S. government
BURNED the bibles right there on base. How’s that for a messed up government!

This was written by a Canadian woman, but oh how
it also applies to the U.S.A., U.K. and Australia .
THIS ONE PACKS A FIRM PUNCH
Written by a housewife in New Brunswick , to
her local newspaper. This is one ticked off lady…
“Are we fighting a war on terror or aren’t we? Was
it or was it not, started by Islamic people who
brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001
and have continually threatened to do so since?
Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered
that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from
the capitol of the USA and in a field in Pennsylvania ?
Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn’t they?
Do you think I care about four U. S. Marines urinating on some dead Taliban insurgents?
And I’m supposed to care that a few Taliban were
claiming to be tortured by a justice system of a
nation they are fighting against in a brutal Insurgency.
I’ll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle
East, start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief
of which, is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan .
I’ll care when these thugs tell the world they are
sorry for hacking off Nick Berg’s head, while Berg
screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.I’ll care when the cowardly so-called insurgents in Afghanistan , come out and fight like men, instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in Mosques and behind

What Muslim, or what Muslim group is supposed to apologize for 9-11? You can find two million Muslims in the United States who know that terrorists acts are a violation of the teachings of the Koran which says, “…whosoever killeth a human being… it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind…”

I imagine that almost every US Muslim is against extremists who do violence against innocent people, just as Christians are against the violence committed by Anders Behring Breivik who killed 69 kids in the name of Christianity and conservativism. And just as Christians say Breivik “wasn’t a true Christian” so too most Muslims will says that the terrorists aren’t “true Muslims.”

JZS you are despicable. You dare to compare one lone lunatic to an entire group of people who are bent on world domination in the name of their “god”? Get this through your thick effing head already Breivik is no Christian and neither was McVey and his cohorts. You grasp at straws and desparately try to draw comparisons where none can be made, at least not with anyone that has a single ounce of honesty and descency in them. As far as these “moderate” peace loving muslims, where are they now? Where have they been in the last 10 years? Where are they when these atrocities are committed in the name of their religion? I don’t see them out in the the streets or talking to the media to codemn these people and working to put an end to them. I can count on one hand the number of muslims who denounce these actions, the rest remain silent because in their hearts they desire the exact same thing that the “radicals” want, a one world caliphate. I at least give the “radicals” the “courage” of their convictions to be honest and open about their desires, the silent ones are the ones we should truely be concerned about.

I don‘t think she’s an airhead, that would imply she doesn’t understand. She’s foolish in the classical sense. She know‘s what she is saying is wrong but say’s it anyway. I‘ve been on the ground in Iraq and with any Islamist society you can’t negotiate with the Devil. One of two things will fix this either a change of heart, turning from Islam or total victory, taking the gloves off and being as brutal as them.

I know that no American administration will ever work on true heart change since that would require them to call Islam what it is, pure evil. I also don’t see any American administration fighting for total victory, total inhalation of our enemy.

Either way we are in trouble and I’m tired of watching my friends die in those third world hell holes.

Honestly. I don’t have the answer. On one hand we fight to keep the battle off our soil and on the other hand, groups like the Muslim Brotherhood are helping to take us apart by gaining influence in the U.S. Government. If you don’t believe the second part take a look at the transcripts for the “Holy Land Foundation” investigation.

May God have mercy on us because we are going to need it.

There has been enough of that. Of course, the religious beliefs of the people in these Muslim countries are strong and it doesn’t take much to set them off, but that is all the more reason for Americans (whether they be Christian or not) to act with respect and sensitivity when dealing with them.

There’s a big difference between getting offended on a religious basis and taking the lives of OUR soldiers. We have built that backwater wasteland into a liveable place, with roads, schools, power plants, water purification, medical knowledge and other things that nation has never seen, and how do they repay us, by throwing a temper tantrum over a few pages of desecrated holy text that gets our men killed.

We have given them everything they could could need and more, and they murder us in return.

Vengeance doesn’t even begin to describe what I want to do to these ingrates. Sherman’s march to the sea would look like a bad day at the bar compared to what I want to see us do to them. But I would be satisfied with watching these barbarians tear each other limb from limb when we leave, and having all those things they were given turn to ash in front of them. I will enjoy watching them suffer.

You have such a collectivist mentality. You have assumed that all Afghanis actively supported the Taliban and Al Qaida before the US occupation because the government did. At this point, the people we’re fighting over there are individuals who have been recruited based on their opposition to US imperial interventionism. What neocons like Krauthammer always seems to forget is that actions have consequences. When you invade a country, bomb and kill thousands of innocents, the people who would otherwise do nothing will rise up. At this point there is very little we can do to atone for our crimes over there (the collateral damage, not koran burning). We will just spend more money, lose more men, and way more afghanis to no real end. We should just bring our boys home and cease to be a world meddling power. They never “hated us for our freedom.” We’ve been meddling around the world since the end of WWII. This always creates enemies. The US was meant to be the Switzerland of the new world. Everyone has a gun and knows how to use it, and they mind their own business around the world. Free trade and non-interventionism leads to prosperity, while moral crusading and empire building always leads to bankruptcy.

I’ll be happy to donate an old bible or missle so they can burn it. I would prefer air mail that way it can be air dropped on those animals preferrably from an altitude of say 35000 ft.

It is a Muslim’s duty to kill or convert a non-believer. It is a Christian’s duty to love his enemy and to turn the other cheek. And our president did pay homage to the Saudis not too long ago. A second Obama term will change our country to a godless communist model or one under Sharia law. Then all these questions will become moot. So think hard about your voting preferences this November.

“Turning the other cheek” is a phrase so misinterpreted by people who ignore the historical meaning of the act which was very familiar to Jesus when he used the phrase. It is a command to respond to minor aggression by willingly exposing oneself to a further act of aggression rather than retaliating, retreating, or ignoring the first offense.

In doing this you are inviting the instigator to break the law further justifying action on your part. This then justifies you to seek, not vengeance, but punishment for breaking the law.

The sickest part to me is the brave men and women who died to protect the freedoms these “pacifists” denounce with practically every action they take and every word they profess……while advancing their hatred all the more.

Your argument assumes/makes two points that I find to be questionable.

First, that this Nation was a Christian theocracy during the time of the bombings.

Second, that not only was everyone who recommended this measure a Christian, but that Christianity would endorse the aforementioned measures in the first place.

If you could better explain these two points I would be grateful.
