Krauthammer: Israel Will Attack Iran if They Think Obama Will Win the Election

Israel Air StrikeIsrael will attack Iran if they think President Barack Obama will win again in November, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer predicted Friday.

“If they think Obama will win the election, I think it‘s likely they will attack before because afterwards there’s no telling how Obama would punish Israel, and Israel would be vulnerable to any sanctions or other measures from the United States,” Krauthammer said Friday on Fox News.

Pointing out Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s words earlier this year that Israel would attack Iran in April, May or June, Krauthammer said the “clock is running.”

“I think they’re simply waiting to make sure that these sham negotiations are declared over rather than put on life support as a way to say all options have been tried, now we have to defend ourselves,” he said.

Iran on Saturday said it has a plan to block the Strait of Hormuz if it feels its interests are “seriously threatened,” and last week issued a new threat to “wipe” Israel “off the face of the earth” if the Jewish state attacks.

      Israel is not worried about being punished for attacking Iran if it “looks like Obama will win”. That makes no sense at all. If they attack and “then” Obama wins… Obama will still punish them.

      Or he will reward them for giving him a reason for declaring martial law on us before the elections.

Iran could give a rats behind about our babies and our young Military members who they helped kill with advanced IED technology and training to Iraqi insurgent (Saddam) dead-enders and other terrorists crossing the border (along with Iran’s Military on many an occasion).

      Nobody here I would think wants to kill innocents in Iran, but the head of the extreme Islamic snake in Iran needs/or will at some point have to be dealt with Militarily… whether the Israelis do it, we do it, or both of us together do it.

      Unfortunately, a natural distaste for war will not prevent it when one of the protaganists is bent on the other’s destruction.

      Israel intends, quite reasonably, to survive. “First strike” has been a tried and true defensive measure over the centuries, and Israel used it to defend itself in the Six Day War.

      I agree with Mr Krauthammer, it’s coming. The only things that are uncertain is when, and who ends up being drawn into it.

      It would be better, of course, to avoid it, but as with Hitler, sometimes one just can’t.

The only countries we dont invade are ones that have nuclear weapons. Therefore, the Iran regime is going to try to get a nuclear weapon in the name of self preservation.

      Iran is a country that we have not invaded. It does not have a nuclear bomb. We have had cause to invade it for 9 years. It is working on a bomb. It will be there in 1 or 2 years maybe less.

      Afghanistan is a Muslim country. It does not have a nuke. We invaded it because they directly & openly supported terrorism. We asked the Taliban to extradite Usama bin laden. They refused. The Taliban & Al Qaeda are joined a the the hip. For Example Al Qaeda provided the 555batallion for the offensive against the Northern Alliance.

      Iraq was a Muslim country working on a nuclear bomb. At least until 1991 gulf War & the Israeli air strike om their reactor. We went to war with them because they tried to Assassinate George H.W. Bush among other things. President Clinton believed this to be the case, He lobbed a few cruise missiles as is his wont to do. They also violated the 1991 treaty signed at the end of the 1991 Gulf. I also believe they were involved in technical support for the Oklahoma City bombing. GO ahead laugh. There is or was a lawsuit to that effect. On your side saying that Iraq was abiding by the 1991 treaty is Scot Ritter.

      As far as Libya is concerned, they also had a nuke program. The CIA was astounded how far they were along. They gave it up in the wake of the Iraq War. Obama was a) shamed into attacking Libya by the French & Italian presidents (for oil & no refugees), b) wanted to look tough (like Claudius), c) wanted MB in charge

    It takes Obama 90 days to make a Decision and between the November election and the swearing in, another 90 days which means that Iran can strike 90 days ahead of the Election and have 180 days with no worries …….

      Wow, you really are stupid. What do you think HAPPENS if Israel attacks Iran? Iran launches thousands of missiles at Israel and US bases in the region. They sink our ships in the Persian Gulf(google ‘Sunburn missile’ for an education), and sink oil tankers, effectively closing the Strait of Hormuz.

      How do you think the world economy does when all oil from the Middle East is suddenly cut off? You think the US economy can survive 10 dollar a gallon gasoline?

      Israel needs to be put on a leash. The fact that they would not exist without US money and arms should give us the ability to control them. If they don’t want to listen, then their aid should be cut off, and I wish them luck against the onslaught of missiles the Iranians will rain down upon their tiny little country.

      Israel has nukes—but if they use them, the Russians and Chinese will likely nuke Israel. Or maybe the Pakistanis will, because they are an Islamist state who HATE the Israelis.

      Geeze, you‘d think by reading some things on here that Iran’s military is right up with ours in capability. Iran is a loose cannon, and will be a loose nuke if they get them. The IDF is not run by a bunch of incompetents…what they attack will be well planned and in the right order to minimize any response by Iran’s military, including what they can do in the Strait of Hormuz or Persian Gulf. I see them going after military/infrastructure/nuke facility targets only, avoiding civilian targets if at all possible. Iran’s response will be quickly muffled by superior weaponry, training, tactics and a survivor’s drive. Don‘t think for one millisecond that Israel doesn’t have items, plans and equipment available that 99% of anyone on here would never guess on…and I’m not talking nukes; those are a Final Option only and suicidal for anyone who uses them in that confined region, especially if the wind’s blowing in an “unfavorable” direction. Also don’t forget the internal unrest in Iran that still lies beneath the surface there..they still fear their own gov’t much more than Israel, and an outside attack on Iran would present an irresistible opportunity. As for what Krauthammer says, he can say it, but Israel will do what they feel necessary and when they feel it, not what gets out in a news story.

      How about insurance premiums for transiting the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, The straight of Malacca or the South China sea. If those places go to Heck, then other parts of the ocean will face a similar fate.

      Seeing how the rabid left does not want us to frac. We need the oil from overseas or we won;t be able to run anything here much less a womb to the tomb welfare state.

    I‘ve heard several generals and military experts on various shows and they all seem to agree that Israel can’t take out Iran’s nuclear capability because of their hardened locations.

    That’s why I believe Israel should launch first,they should empty their nuclear arsenal on them and be done with it. How many threats does Israel have to hear before they deal with the Iranian problem? They’re fighting for their survival so I say light em up.

      I’ve heard similar info which is why I believe the delay is so Israel can prepare infiltration teams to coordinate with the airstrikes. A special forces team could infiltrate the facilities and damage them from the inside.

    I don’t really think it matters all that much. It really boils down to Israel’s assessment of the threat that Iran poses to them. If that threat level increases, Israel will take action, no matter who is President or looks like they are going to become President.

      The bottom line is this, if anyone attacks Iran oil prices will sky rocket causing complete and total global economic collapse and resulting in a world war. Can you say thermonuclear warfare? It’s easy for chicken hawks to advocate this path. They’ve never been in a foreign country were the native inhabitants are shooting at them. I have. If anyone attacks Iran, China and Russia will respond. Not only will the middle east glow in the dark for next five thousand years but so will most of planet earth including what remains of the American continent. G.W. Bush has opened Pandora‘s box and I don’t see any way of forcing the Jeanie back inside it. You have to out smart Iran and collapse them economically. If no one is buying their oil, shutting down the straights wont hurt THEM!

      Spiritual acts have spiritual consequences. Israel rejected Messiah and left itself open to
      deceit (John 5:43). Jesus knew what awaited them, and He wept over Jerusalem. Until the veil is removed at the second coming of Messiah, Jews/Israel will continue to listen to those who want their destruction, namely the rest of the world except for Christian America.

      When Israel handed the Gaza strip over to the Palestinians, I remember talking with a highly-educated Jew who insisted it was a great diplomatic move. My warning fell on deaf ears, but I was proven right when Hamas took control of Gaza. All of these missteps are a result of spiritual blindness. If God didn’t intervene DAILY, Israel would have ceased to exist by now.

Ron Paul would tell you that he favors “non-intervention” (doing absolutely nothing), as opposed to “isolationism.” Isolationism can be immoral and a fool’s paradise.
