TheRightScoop sends this video:
Allahpundit seems to like the idea but notes:
Just two problems. One: Is there any reason to think the world’s nuttiest government would react rationally to a provocation like that, even under intense pressure from China? Remember that the North Koreans are in the midst of a murky power succession right now between Kim and his son. If Kim doubts that junior is up to the task of “governance,” such as it is in NK, maybe he’ll react to a nuclear standoff by deciding there’s nothing left to lose. Two: Given China’s upset about American influence in the far east and growing confidence about its own military power, I’m guessing that the sudden emergence of U.S. nuclear weapons next door would instigate some sort of reprisal. Think Obama’s up to dealing with that if and when it comes? Me neither.

Posted on November 27, 2010 at 4:33amIt is in China’s best interest to allow N. Korea to be the bad guy in the world so they can do their dirty work and take the blame or retaliation for it…like say N. Korea gets launches an ICBM against the USA…we would likely only retaliate against N. Korea not China…its their actual strategy…proliferate Nuclear technology to the enemies of the USA and someday China will be the last man standing so to speak…
We need a president that will stand up and say that if we ever get nuked by a country that China armed then China will pay the price aswell.

Hillary Clinton doesnt see it because she’s running around the world not working on North Korea, Iran or Mexico. Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Clintons are just trying to survive SEIU CAIR AFL-CIO ACORN PLANNED PARTENTHOOD NPR AFSCME and the great onslaught by the real American People. North Korea shells the south, sinks a boat here and there and cranks out atom bombs and they still run around the pop-culture world spending money borrowed from China. Hu Jintao won’t stop North Korea. DOJ won’t jail black panther bullies with clubs. Axelrod and Boxer, Steward and Colbert, Reid and Pelosi are all waiting to write their Obama books, making it the last killing.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 3:27amReally glad “General Charles” who I agree with most of the time is not a Military Strategist. Nukes on both sides wouldn’t deter North Korea from anything. Those guys are as Out of it as the freak from Iran (Can‘t spell his name and don’t want to learn how). I can see us re-enforcing with Ships with Nuclear Capability in OUR hands as a stand with South Korea as an ally. But NO Way do you start speading Nukes. WE are NOT that Feared any longer thanks to Our Current administration. Who WE told that everyone would see as weakness when he was Bowing on the World Apology Tour.
I guess WE’re in another check-mate,catch 22 situation. Get a Clue…Not only does no one LIKE us but they have not got the Fear that is needed to be pushing anyone around. The one good thing about all of this is China can‘t blow us away or they wouldn’t get paid back. That would be the instant reaction from them if we weren’t in debt. Maybe Start a New World economy ?- NOT

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 3:23amMore updates just now on the N Korea firing on an island of S Korea, not far from disputed area, a military soldier was killed and several injured others dead. S Korea military on top alert after firing back, and scrambling (F14) fighter jets. N Korea provoked this. They must be wanting to test out their nukes, so soon after discovery. Maybe Kim got mad while watching Charles Krauthm make comments about giving S Korea nukes, and decided to attack before we actually did.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:54amDisputed as in the North wants their boarder in the south of Pusan in the South China sea, and the South not so much.
There has been an artillery range on that island for three decades, and *now* the North has a problem with it?
Please.
The north is just pushing. They were not punished for sinking the South Korean corvette last spring, so now they are seeing where the line is.

I guess everybody can stop worring so much about TSA junk grabbing stuff now and start worring about us fighting about (what, 3 or 4) wars at one time now. Get back to the basics and pull our selves back from having to be in everyones business. If those countrys want to put up with dictaters as neighbors then they have that right. Maybe if we werent so involved in Korea all this time the south might of bitch slapped Kim yow yuk by now ? instead South Korea has in a sense become like california….. dependent on the charity of the U.S.A. Lets bring are forces home and let these fools destroy themselves or create a country of their own. And I beileve that would be a start to restoring this great Nation I call home. I’m also a great admirer of Krauthammer.
His point here is very good. China is the facilitor of N. Korea. Our positioning should be directed towards them not the Kim’s.
But arming Japan and S. Korea w/tactical nukes is a big game changer and the chinese would see that as very provocitive.
I like the idea but alot of things could go wrong…

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 12:57amI agree that they should have their own because it is time to for the South Koreans to tell those idiots in the north that they have just as big a stick as they do. China would then have to intervinefor its own survival.

Besides, if the USA ever had to use nukes again, we’d be excoriated by the instigators of the world world (and their lackey’s in the press) as murderous bullies. If South Korea had to use them it would merely be self-defense.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 11:02amTo Silverracer44: It might be a good idea in the same way that the nuclear umbrella in Europe was a good idea, helping to prevent a massive land war. There were howls of “escalation” when nuclear weapons went to Europe, and predicitons of all-out war. The world has changed some, admittedly, and Kim is not Kruschev, but I wouldn’t discount the idea out of hand. Now for the other side: In truth, the South Koreans are capable of protecting themselves form North Korea at this point, despite the fact that a land war would bring unimaginable casualties to Seoul. A simple, non-publisized message to North Korea from the U.S. that a land war or nuclear attack on the South will result in the removal of the Kim regime is sufficient at this point. These interim North Korean provocations, which happen with regularity, are meant to evoke a reaction and to secure additional aid. As long as that occurs, the provocations will continue.

Offer to help a military family, send a gift package to a soldier, or just let them know you appreciate their service. Everything you have, all of your freedoms are because of brave men and women who are willing to do what is necessary and sacrifice what most of us would not.

His plan is a path towards war and antagonism of our greatest debt holder. A nation on the ropes such as ours cannot afford such a path. We need a true conservative who can put our financial affairs in order and revitalize our leverage with the world. Not through more weapons, but through more influence.

Posted on November 23, 2010 at 3:48pmNuclear Weapons are NEVER a good thing to use. I don’t care which side of the line you stand on. There plenty of sufficient weapons to obliterate an enemy without going nuclear. And in case there is once launched, we have the technology to take it out of the sky with a kinetic missile (no warhead, direct impact). Just get those over there and keep them from being able to launch successfully.
Report Post »StMichelob
Posted on November 23, 2010 at 4:24pmREASON #3 THIS IS A BAD IDEA: Do ANY of you realize the nuclear arsonal of a US sub? If their nukes went hot, we’d probably have their silos/launchpads taken out before they could be fueled. Arming SK WOULD probably make Kim fire his off on his death bed, probably cackling wildly as he pushed the button. And then burn in the eternal fire of an American nuclear tipped Tomahawk. And then just burn eternally.
Good riddence.

I say nuke up S Korea. Its their survival. I say change the Japanese Constitution and allow them to create an offensive military. They are not the aggressors of the 1940′s, they are the fearful people in a very stormy sea of uncertain military forces. Allow them the ability to fight in a war if need be, not just for defense.
