Krauthammer on Obama Address: A ‘Campaign Speech’ of a ‘Watered-Down, Retreaded Stimulus Package’

With sarcasm evident in his voice, columnist Charles Krauthammer gave his initial impressions of President Obama’s jobs address to Congress by calling it, “One of the great campaign speeches I have ever heard.” He quickly followed, “Unfortunately, it was given in…the magnificent setting where FDR, after Pearl Harbor…asked for a declaration of war on Japan. In the august setting where Lyndon Johnson asked for passage of civil rights. Here was a President asking for the passage, essentially, of a watered-down, retreaded stimulus package.”

      Isn’t it interesting how Obama wants this boondoggle passed “right away”. He must have said that 100 times. Why does he want action taken so quickly when he’s taken 32 months to come up with a plan? Is this plan actually written down where members of Congress can really read it, and study it for all the scams it probably contains.

      Members of congress should take months to read this scam of a plan and to decipher what‘s really in it and then everyone will see it’s nothing but another hat full of tricks from a complete gas bag.

      A guest on Fox News tonight said he didn’t agree with Obama, but his speech was excellent. His speech after the Rev. Wright expose was said to be “brilliant,“ wherein he declared his grandmother was a ”typical white person.”

      Somebody tell me what I’m missing.

      I see absolutely nothing exceptional about either speech or ANY of Obama’s speeches. You know, I’m beginning to think the lefties who heap so much praise on this man, for what amounts to mediocrity, are really racists. By that I mean they wouldn’t praise Obama so much if he were white. I truly believe that because they are so amazed he doesn’t bomb out completely everytime he opens his mouth it amounts to black genius, because they expect so little from blacks.

      Also, do these same liberals support affirmative action, because they agree that blacks can’t make it on their own abilities?

      A couple friends and I were playing OBINGO tonight.

      It’s basically the same game as bingo, but with common Obama phrases instead of numbers. (Crisis, Special Interests, Millionaires and Billionaires, Corporate loopholes, etc.) About 30 minutes into the speech one of my friends won with “Warren Buffet.”

      So predictable this buffoon is.

      The last jobs he created cost way over $200,000 for each of the 20 jobs created. Wonder how much he plans to spend on each new job this year? He could have just saved the speech from 2 years ago and give it again tonight. Oh, wait, he did!

And if you pay close attention in the article they say the buyer would likely be the fed themselves and possible pension funds. This would be a last ditch effort to stay alive since everyone is pulling away from buying our 20 year and below treasury bonds

    It sickened me to hear members in the chamber tell President Obama “We got your back.” It is obvious to me that some in Congress really believe we are at war or at least in an escalated conflict. I also heard one lady lecture him about staying strong and being bold, just like he was a youngster in the political arena…lol.

      The problem is, we actually are at war for our country. I say it a lot, but reading the short “Art of War” clearly illustrates that wars can most effectively be waged without guns. However, overwhelming displays of force are sometimes required to counter….hint, hint.

I’m not a fan of Obama either – I think he’s a social engineering screwball….BUT he has NEVER, EVER demonstrated action truly in favor of the small business owner – the only one who creates jobs. Don’t you remember the White House attack on the Chamber of Commerce?

    The economy is not an Engine you prime. It’s organic. It’s simply people serving one another, let people serve one another by lowering the barriers. Man, a total 180, this must’ve been a tough pill to swallow…no doubt a serious ‘Back-Against-The-Wall’ moment.

      I want to see the proposal on paper before I blast it apart. There is a chance (yes it is so thin you can see light through it ) but still a chance it could actually benefit the economy. Or it could be another multi-billion dollar giveaway to his union supporters. If the former, then I would be willing to give him credit for finally doing something right. If the latter, then I will spend every waking moment helping to campaign against this clown until he is out of office!

    I think Krauthammer is a very smart guy, but it didn’t take a rocket scientist to know beforehand what we were going to get out of Ospender.

      +1 Krauthammer is very intelligent (not just because we share viewpoints). His articles are excellent reading.

      All the news outlets have people rehashing the same garbage as eachother. There’s SO much news out there that it is despicable so little is reported…even on Fox. That‘s why I miss Glenn’s program so much.

      Back to topic: I can’t stand to look or hear Obama at all. All I get is arrogance & deception from him. It sickens me that the majority of people in office just allow him to disassemble our Constitution.

      I’m not nearly as intelligent as Krauthammer, however my summary of his speech: “Pass this bill”. Anyone count the number of times obama said it? It would have been a shorter speech if he came out and said Pass this bill, so we can find out what’s in it. Sounds like he’s using the same playbook!

    Job creation and many businesses failing to move forward is a result to Mr. Obama’s policies. Obamacare is just one. Steve hayes had it right when he stated that jobs could have been created in the two years when Obama and Democrats controlled all. Instead they spent time creating Obamacare and new taxes BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. Americans need to remember these facts when they vote. I broke my promise to myself that I would not listen to this speech, but I decided to give him the benefit of a doubt. It was disappointing to hear another campaign speech in which he wasted the time of members of Congress.

      There are some people that will go to their grave believing in this guy, they do not think, just “We need to support him, give him a chance. I never voted for him, saw through him from the beginning, researched him as much as he would release to the public and I don’t want to give him a chance at anything. No president in history has been less qualified, spent more, been more arrogant. I would grant him the rest of his term on the golf course and eating icecream just to get rid of his lack of leadership.

      He did what some have been calling for. He looked angry at the end.

    The one big lesson I’ve learned from Charles Krauthammer is the irrelevance of emotion when you have a well-founded argument. He never lets his message get lost in emotion. That‘s why it’s easy to hear what he says. I love the guy.
