Kuwait Olympic Medal Ceremony Confuses Borat‘s ’Kazakhstan Anthem’ With Real Anthem

Either Kuwait’s Olympics staff believes that “Kazakhstan is the greatest country in the world” and “all other countries are run by little girls,” as the faux-Kazakh anthem from Sacha Baron Cohen’s movie “Borat” alleges, or someone on that staff needs to get fired.
The reason? At an awards ceremony for the Olympic gold medal winning Kazakhstan shooting team in Kuwait, Cohen’s fake “national anthem” was played instead of the actual national anthem of Kazakhstan. The BBC caught the offensive incident:
Kazakhstan’s shooting team has been left stunned after a comedy national anthem from the film Borat was played at a medal ceremony at championships in Kuwait instead of the real one.
The team asked for an apology and the medal ceremony was later rerun.
The team’s coach told Kazakh media the organisers had downloaded the parody from the internet by mistake.
The worst part? The two “anthems” don’t even have the same melody, so it’s not even a case of potentially confusing the “Borat” version for a poor translation. Here’s the real Kazakh anthem, untranslated:
And here’s Kazakh athlete Maria Dmitrienko keeping a particularly effective poker face as the closing lines of the fake “anthem” are played (Warning – obscene language):
The film “Borat” is banned in Kazakhstan, as is Sacha Baron Cohen himself, so in all likelihood, this marks the first time any members of the team had even heard of the fake “anthem” for their country. The medal ceremony has since been redone and an investigation is likely, but one still has to wonder what exactly caused this to happen.

Posted on March 24, 2012 at 8:04amIf an actual Kuwaiti was in charge of getting the song they probably only did a quick google search downloaded it and the first time they ever listened to it was when they played it live. If you ever spent an extended time in Kuwait you would know that attention to detail and work ethic is pretty much nonexistent. I do think the whole “crap rolls down hill” thing started there though. It is almost like before they do anything they make sure they have someone to blame if things go wrong.

Posted on March 24, 2012 at 7:22amIslamic culture denies much of objective reality. Because of this much of their “communication” with each other is couched in terms of conspiracy, plots, plans, and deceptions.
It is no wonder that they make mistake such as this, and larger ones as well. Because Islam is a retrograde culture based on the pragmatic application of dishonesty in all spheres of life.

Posted on March 23, 2012 at 7:25pmThat is “almost” as bad as our current President-in-residence’s failure to salute during our national anthem.
Report Post »Doctor Nordo
Posted on March 23, 2012 at 11:18pmA salute during the national anthem is only supposed to be performed by armed forces members in uniform. Even a military member who is in civilian clothing is not supposed to salute.
Now, the President may return a salute rendered to him by a someone in the military, since he is in the military’s direct chain of command, but the President is not supposed to salute for colors or during the national anthem. The hand placed over the heart is the appropriate action.

Posted on March 24, 2012 at 12:14amDOC about 2 years the code was changed
anyone who has served in military can render proper hand salute
even if
you just fellout in your bvd’s
you are correct about the Pres. hand over heart is proper.
However I learned in the Army you have to respect the office,or Rank.
But when it comes to this peice of crap CIC he should cover his eyes
and not be aloud within 50 feet of our FLAG

Well, it‘s still improper for Obama to salute during the nat’l anthem since he never served in the military. I‘ve been out for about 7 years so I wasn’t aware of the change.
It just annoys me when people who don’t have any clue about military protocol criticize others on completely unfounded bases. Crucifying Obama for not saluting during the nat’l anthem qualifies as such unfounded criticism.
President Obama has plenty of other reasons for us to criticize him. Making stuff up is completely unnecessary and possibly even detrimental.
Report Post »Doctor Nordo
Posted on March 24, 2012 at 2:47amOkay, I actually just found a picture of the event in question, and apparently criticism of Obama is actually called for. It wasn’t a military salute that he failed to perform; he failed to even cover his heart, and also apparently even failed to even recite the pledge.
So I apologize for the misunderstanding.
