L.A. Offering Bribes So Occupiers Will Abandon City Hall Campsite?

While many Occupations have gotten the boot, it looks like Occupy L.A. is getting star treatment.

Instead of sending in police with batons and pepper spray, city officials are offering Occupy L.A. a “package of incentives” so they will abandon their camp outside of City Hall, according to the LA Times.

The incentives reportedly include downtown office space, pasture land, and free housing.

During the Occupy L.A. General Assembly meeting on Monday, details of the proposal were revealed by Jim Lafferty,  an attorney with the National Lawyers Guild.

According to Lafferty, the City of Los Angeles inducements to the Occupiers include a 10,000-square-foot office space near City Hall for the cost of $1 a year, a lease for land outside of city limits for Occupiers who wish to farm, and  additional housing for the homeless who have joined the Occupy movement.

The Los Angeles Mayor’s office will neither confirm nor deny the deal, saying only that: “We are in negotiations with organizers of Occupy L.A.”

L.A. apparently would rather accommodate its Occupiers at public expense than enforce the law and evict them in a manner similar to Occupy Wall Street and other encampments like Occupy Oakland.

Regardless of any deals offered by Los Angeles city officials, nobody knows if and when the Occupy L.A. movement will give up its current campsite.

Protestors had mixed emotions when told about the ongoing negotiations, according to the L.A.Times, with some excited, others angry and confused.

How that differs from the Occupiers’ usual state was not immediately clear.

      And of course…California is rolling in cash right now….so leasing office space and farm land for $1.00 is nothing. A totally sickening, insulting and laughable excercise by L.A. officials to pander to OWS. While OWS plans to disrupt much needed business for the state and city…L.A. officials turn around for another round of buggery from the left and it’s browshirts in OWS…at the tax payers’ expense naturally. Why not? They keep raising taxes and californians keep paying them..while business flees the state.

Before you start with that crap- you might want to go out to the midwest, and look around. Bubba ain’t riding ol “Rusty” anymore, and the farms -the last ones standing- aren’t run by Bubba the hayseed anymore. and there are only a few of them. And IF they don’t make a profit. . . there is NOBODY to take their place. Millions of dollars invested, at the whim of weather, pests and the markets. You walk the walk or just bloviate.       Well they are, did you think that only California will be footing the bill for this?? No, I am afraid, all of us will be paying for it.. $1 a year for a building lease?? Yeah right, I bet the property owner will get the full rent payment, and the Calif. Government will just be writing the total remaining balance to when Das Fuhrer gives them a bail-out.. That way we can all pay for the dirty/smelly clueless hippies to have next-to free housing..

      I would feel better if they just used that money and started a homeless shelter, and told the clueless occupiers to go and pound sand.

      Boy, I cannot imagine being as ignorant and ill-informed as you… The Founders fought against a over-bearing federal government, which was forcing laws and taxes on people that had no representation. Which is exactly what our current government is doing…

      Obamacare is a prime example… Yes the people wanted healthcare reform, but NO-One but Obama and his brainless drones wanted Obamacare…

      Plus all the green-energy non-sense that is going to cost alot of people their jobs, and supply us with less power then we currently have, all in the name of giving some clueless wonders the “warm-and-fuzzies)…

      Yes, maybe more red states are receiving welfare than blue states.. However, most of those states have relied on their manufactured goods being purchased by European markets (and thats not happening now due to Europe’s financial issues) so now all of those companies are laying people off, and those people need help..

      Don’t get me wrong, I am not excusing this… I refuse welfare, and cannot bring myself to ask others for things I can attain for myself. But I am single, and if I have to go hungry for two days because I am broke then so be it.. I don’t worry about having to feed a family (which I am sure if I had, I may reconsider).

      There is more to the world than your stupid talking points, and you have to consider the world situation as a whole before you make remarks like that (less you look like a complete fool).

      You are aware that if we did jail all of them, we would still be providing them with free electricity, heat, and three square meals a day. All of that would be paid with TAX dollars as well, your option is most ways worst than what the mayor of L.A. is offering them since it would overcrowd our jails and make it so that real criminals would walk free.

      They were both basically on the same side of the issue anyway. LA has already determined that SoCal doesn’t belong to Americans. It belongs to mexico and la raza. But, they won’t be happy with that. The entire south west is on the block. Other states haven’t yet rolled over. But the pressure is on. It’s only a matter of time.
