Labor Activist: Poor Whites Shouldn’t Support Romney, But If They Do It‘s Because They’re Racist

Labor Activist Bill Fletcher Says Whites Supporting Romney is About Race

Former AFL-CIO, SEIU & UAW affiliate Bill Fletcher

Bill Fletcher, a Harvard educated Labor activist, made some startling admissions about his view on the white support for presidential candidate Mitt Romney recently.

Speaking on a panel in Stony Brook, NY, Mr.Fletcher discussed his views on how absurd it would be for any poor white people to support the Republican candidate but if they do, there must be underlying racism involved.

Mr.Fletcher began his commentary on Romney support by asking:

“How is it that economically precarious whites can see in Romney a champion?”

The former SEIU employee asked again in disbelief:

“How is it that economically precarious whites can look at Romney?”

Fletcher then began a confounding rationalization, agreeing that whites might feel disenfranchised by Democrats but should never find political solace in conservatism: ”I understand the disappointment in the Democrats — but why Romney?”

“I mean you can be disappointed  in the Democrats and move left but moving right? Into this  fools paradise, is something we have to grapple with.”

The former AFL-CIO employee reasoned that to explain Romney’s poor white support you have to consider race:

“You can’t have a discussion about class in the absence of having a discussion about race.”

Fletcher ended his explanation by defining that white people require separation from people of color to feel “middle class” and use this separation as ”a place to escape to, to differentiate themselves from this dark sphere” of minorities.

    WTH, Why do the stupid always have to play the race card. Technically, the white race has become the minority in the USA. I get tired of hearing about it, really, I noticed that we have/had a United Negros College fund for years, but I dare anyone to come out with a United Caucasion College fund because they would be roasted alive. Most of USA doesn’t give a rip if your Black, White, Yellow, Brown, Green or Purple for that matter, They want people they can put their trust in and Obama/Romney, just are not it. Both have the cash/money of unions/corporations backing them up, so basically what it comes down to, is which lies are you gonna swallow and which one do you want to run the WH, I personally choose neither, since they both are snakes and have know clue what the truth even means anymore. They are there for the money and what it can do to help the personally. Just imagine if one of em had taken all the money they have spent on campaign ads, and donated it to all the states to help the econemy out, how people would have reacted? Instead they like to throw cheap shots at one another for millions of dollars. Are these two, really the kind of president the USA wants ruling over them?

      It is funny to hear the left accuse others of racism when that is what Obama has been doing since he first started running for office . People will vote against him because of the lies and lousy job he has done as President. Here is a man that cannot run on his own record so deflects to keep his opponents off balance. Romney needs to stick to Obama’s failure and not focus on the distractions, keep Obama on the ropes.

      Are there any Labor/Union Activists that are white and conservative? How about some white conservative professors stepping out and refuting this nonsense. I’m so tired of seeing Piven and Black professors spewing all this anti-American racist talk. Its time to counter this. Come on Conservatives in education and unions. Find a platform and speak out. Conservatives are the majority but you would never know it from the Blaze and MSM coverage of these idiots. I’m NOT racist, but this is getting overwhelming.

      What “minority” President? Obama’s mother was white. At the most he is a mixed race. The only way he can be “black” is if someone subscribes to the old Jim Crow era One Drop Rule. And which political party brought us that thinking? Democrats. The only answer I ever get is but, but, but…

    My democratic neighbor said he doesn’t vote republican because they closed down the coal mine he worked at several years ago. HELLO. Has he been following this administrations stance on coal mines lately? I guess he likes his government check too much now to switch parties.

    Really? In our VERY small community we have whites, blacks, hispanics, asians, and some that are a mix of all the above. I haven‘t noticed anyone moving to separate from the ’“dark sphere” of minorities. I think this guy is the one who has the need to serarate himself from the “lighter sphere” of a community. Racists much?

While under ever republican administration, the wealth of all classes has gone up, with the poor and middle class often outpacing the rich.
