Latest Cover of Time Magazine: 35 Illegal Aliens Claiming ‘We Are Americans*’

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jose Antonia Vargas revealed himself to be an illegal alien living in the U.S. (Source: Time Magazine)
Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas made headlines last year when he came out and publicly revealed himself to be an illegal alien living and working in the United States.

He has not been contacted by the government since making the announcement, which he argues was intended to make the point that illegal immigration is not being addressed.
Well, Vargas is stirring the immigration pot again and is featured on the cover of the latest issue of Time Magazine along with 35 other illegal aliens – who all name themselves in the article and tell their stories, CBS News reports. There are reportedly about 12 million illegal aliens living in the U.S.
He wants everyone to know that the American people just don’t understand this issue.
“We are not who you think we are,“ Vargas said Thursday on ”CBS This Morning.”
“To me, the power of this Time magazine cover is, you have 35 people here from 15 different countries, Mexico, Nigeria, Israel, Korea, Philippines. You know, when we think about illegal immigration, we seem think it’s all about Mexicans and the border. That’s not the reality.”
He is absolutely right about that. As many of our readers know, there are immigrants from all over the world pouring across our border.
During the interview, he was asked “How is that you are able to [get paid]?…you are an illegal immigrant.” Vargas disputed quickly, “an undocumented American actually.”
He went on to explain that he is able to be paid as an independent contractor just not as a salaried employee, the same way “undocumented Americans” working as construction workers or laborers are able to make a living.
“Ordinary Americans have such a profound misunderstanding and misperceptions about what this issue is,” Vargas said.
Vargas claims he and the 35 other “undocumented workers” now worry about being deported. “But what’s even more worrisome is not doing anything about it,” he added.

“At the end of the day, most people in my situation haven’t been encountered by the government. There’s 11.5 million of us, right? Most people have not been encountered,” Vargas told CBS This Morning. “… I am about as public as it comes on this. I’m on Twitter, I’m on Facebook. I’m on the corner of 14th and 6th in Manhattan.”
“We’re almost invisibly visible,” he continued. “You know we’re here. So allow us to come forward and say, ‘Hey, if you want us to pay our back taxes, if you want us to wait in some sort of line. If you want us to learn to speak English,’ … But give us the process that we can enter.”
Vargas also used the interview to bash Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney in a thinly veiled critique on conservatives who tend to be more strict when it comes to border security.
“I remember being in Iowa in Cedar Rapids and Mitt Romney telling the audience (that) people like me should get in the back of the line,” the journalist said. “Where is the line? If they can tell us where it is, if it’s in Times Square somewhere, I’ll go there right now. There is no line, there is no process.”
It doesn’t appear that Vargas is advocating for amnesty for all individuals, but instead advocating for a process that all immigrants can enter into.

Most conservatives know that Illegal Aliens can be from ANY country other than America. Anyone in this country without authorization is illegal & should be removed. As for Illegal Mexicans being here, I was really steamed when Mexican President Calderon came and chastised the US about our immigration policy. Have you read the Mexican Immigration laws? They are very tough for people wanting to become citizens in their country. If the US adopted the laws that Mexico has, the world would cry out and call us racist. What a load of crap!
I support and welcome any LEGAL immigrant from any country that comes here the right way and wants to be part of the American melting pot. If they come here and want to change the US into their old country, they best go back there or don’t even bother coming.
As for the people in the article above, how many of them have worked to become legal citizens? Are they trying or is it just they prefer to remain illegal?

As you have described, Jews do practice the art of ethnic nepotism. They bond together, hence a Jew living in Germany has more in common with a Jew living in France or Russia, than either has with the German, French or Russian people respectively.

The cities and neighborhoods with high welfare rates are slums now. People do not take care of what comes easy. Welfare is demoralizing. It’s used to break up the family. There was no welfare early on and people came here to be free and work hard. There cannot be open borders or a welfare state. If there is no legal way for low skilled workers to get in line, then unfortunately they can’t come and stay. Every country has quotas of what type of professions they need and then let you in if they need you. It’s not pretty but we have to make decisions of who we take onto the sinking boat. Will it be someone who helps keep the boat afloat or sink it. We can’t continue to help the world if we ourselves collapse. This is the best country in the world. Don’t think all Americans realize that. I’m sure the U.S. allows for political refugees and other emergency entries.

So you have reached a conclusion regarding all Jews, who number well into the millions, using the actions of only a couple of Jews? Never mind the fact that each and everyone one of those Jews is secular, which by definition means they have severed that commonality to Jews living elsewhere. Secular Jews are NOT the ones who actually uphold the Jewish tradition of only marrying other Jews. You may find a few Reform Jews mixed in but the Reform movement is essentially secular, being the only denomination for which religious law isn’t obligatory, that sanctions marriages between Jews and non-Jews, and doesn’t believe in a messianic redemption at all.
You say Jewish culture is to blame but the only thing these people have in common is that their culture is secularism, something that can be said of all communists. You claim that the culture these people have either rejected or were never raised in is to blame for their actions and views. How many Orthodox Jews can you find that support communism? How many from the Conservative movement? How many that actually associate with Jewish culture? You haven’t refuted my point, you only proved it.

I applied for a job at a Latino computer shop last year. The owner and one worker spoke English; the rest did not. My resume wasn’t looked at and I was offered a job. I asked to hang up for the day first to see if I would fit in. I walked around, observed and spoke with the one worker who spoke English and had been working in the US for several years.
I asked him if this was a 1099 job. “What’s that?” It’s kind of like a W2. “What’s that?” OK…. I continued observing and this is what I saw;
The cash register was the owners front pocket, the hand written client receipts (sometimes just masking tape with a name and #) were trashed when a computer was picked up. no taxes were charged, every part installed into a computer or laptop “had” to be used, as workers finished a computer they wrote down what they did on a piece of paper, every computer got an illegal copy of Windows 7 and Office 2007 installed, stolen laptops would have the password removed while the client waited, laptops, computers and cameras would be purchased for cash without checking any ID and put out for sale, near the end of the day each worker would go to the “boss” with his piece of paper and they would haggle over the pay and then be paid in cash. I turned down the job.
If this is what is happening with people who are trying to become citizens legally…
…I wonder what the illegals are doing? Most likely the same thing.
