Latest Resignation in Hacking Scandal: London Police Commissioner

As the News of the World hacking scandal continues to infect more and more branches of British society and the News Corporation empire, London Metropolitan Police Commissioner Paul Stephenson has announced today that he will step down from his post following criticism for his handling of the ordeal and his links to News Corp.

MSNBC:

“Stephenson said he was resigning as commissioner of London‘s force because of ’speculation and accusations’ about his links to Neil Wallis, a former News of the World executive editor, who also worked for the London police as a part-time PR consultant for a year until September 2010. Wallis was arrested last week.

Stephenson said he did not make the decision to hire Wallis and had no knowledge of Wallis’s links to phone hacking, but he wanted his police force to focus on preparing for the 2012 London Olympics instead of wondering about a possible leadership change.”

The news of Stephenson’s resignation comes on the same day as the arrest of Rebekah Brooks, former News of the World editor, and the same week as Dow Jones CEO Les Hinton’s resignation.

Latest Resignation in Hacking Scandal: London Police Commissioner

With a figure as high up in the British establishment as Stephenson now a casualty of the scandal, some have speculated that it is not so unimaginable that the scandal will end up bringing down the calm and articulate Prime Minister. Publisher of Total Politics Ian Dale:

“I can’t believe I am even writing this, but it is no longer an impossibility to imagine this scandal bringing down the Prime Minister or even the government. OK, some of you reading this may think that last sentence is a deranged ranting, and you may be right. Indeed, I hope you are. But Sir Paul Stephenson launched a thinly veiled attack on David Cameron in his resignation statement and the Prime Minister is already on the ropes about the propriety of his relationship with Andy Coulson.”

Is it fair at this point to equate the News of the World hacking scandal as the British version of Watergate? Or considering it involves a media giant on three continents, the royal family and the possible hacking of 9/11 survivors, something even bigger?

Of course the bribery aspect indicates a much higher level of knowledge in Murdoch’s management staff, including himself. While a handful of employees may have engaged in hacking cell phones. Paying off the police requires money, a bunch of it. And I doubt the employees were graciously supplying the money. It is a classic case of either Murdoch knowing what was going on, or he is stupid and it was happening under his nose. Either way he is responsible. The continuing resignations are reflective of an organized attempt to protect him. You know these people will be paid well for taking the fall.

If the blaze is actually a news site than blaze readers should care about Murdoch’s guilt or innocence. Read your constitution people freedom of speech was the first amendment.

Murdoch’s one and only concern is his anti-arab/muslim genocidal propaganda media campaign.he’s a zioninist propagandist and as a media mogul has the blood of millions of arabs, countless americans and israelis on his hand.he’s been a war monger against arabs from day one of his career. He’s in fact guilty of crimes against humanity;preaching genocidal hatred of a billion people. That you would have no problem with one man controlling so much media shows your lack of discernment as brainwashed gulls. You’re too busy preoccupied with spoonfed paranoia about Soros or muslims wanting to force you to convert, that you don‘t see that you’re being indoctrinated by a power elite with an agenda.

Our government taps cell phones, makes arrest without warrants and does everything that is being claimed here. It is called the Patriot Act. One does not make the other correct, but it certainly questions one like Barbara Boxer who wants an investigation into Fox News. It is only a matter of time before Fox caves to the mighty powers. When we have corruption at the highest levels of government with plenty of evidence to convict and nothing is done, then it is only safe to assume that free press will be the next thing to take over. After that, it will be the military. That is why Obama wants to put illegals in there and give them citizenship after 2 years service. They will owe the party then and have their unwavering support.

Maybe all of the ignorant children that are jumping to conclusions both for or against Rupert Murdoch and Newscorp could wait until the investigation gets to the bottom of this.

For those of you that automatically indicate Mr. Murdoch as culpable and directly responsible for this situation, I suggest you pull your partisan face out of your partisan ass. This is an international company with god knows how many employees etc. I run a small construction company and am often out of the loop about things until they surface. The idea that somehow Mr. Murdoch should have such a tight grip on his company that nothing could get by him is laughable. Try getting out of the basement some time. The real world is not the SIMS despite what you believe.

No THEREALCONSERVATIVE, I’m not charge of the investigation. But the person who is in charge has arrested 10 people or so. And Murdoch has fired several top level people, dropped his bid for BskyB, apologized several times, closed the newspaper under scrutiny and is doing every kind of damage control he can. A police chief has resigned.

Remember your words THEREALCONSERVATIVE (nice username by the way). People are going to talk. The scandal will spread to the US and the corruption will be revealed in glorious tabloid fashion. And people will go to jail.

Their job, as one insider was “to destroy human beings.” Murdoch gave up his bid for BskyB, closed World News, and has been casting people overboard left and right to keep his ship afloat.

But people are going to start talking to save themselves, and then he’ll really have problems.

Don’t care for the liberal **** chat until the whole story unfolds. Still not so sure there wasn’t some progressive plants (Soros?) in on this hacking scandal. Hmmm, maybe some of the early resignations and arrest to resist investigations. I am not always right about my speculations but I do know we are hearing a lot more than necessary to divert our attention from “fast and furious”, which is much more important news right now due to the fact it has taken lives of US citizens and our own leadership has chosen to ignore it. Has anyone thought about the fact that the one we are trusting to oversee the investigation of the hacking scandal if it also exists in the US is the same one that is in charge of the gunrunner scandal, Eric Holder himself? Interesting huh?

Anyone that actually absorbs the stunning facts, the incredible parts, the axe murder and hacking the police investigating and geting them fired, Labor and Conservative MP’s terrified of him, mailing out viruses you name it.

And the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act carries a penalty up to everything executives own personally, including any pension and the house you live in. All you have to do is bribe a foreign government. It’s almost always settled out of court. Corporations have paid fines over a billion dollars.

The few of the 20,000 names that were notified, were paid off by James Murdoch a million dollars each. A precedent. 20,000 x 1 million dollars = 20 billion dollars in civil damages alone.

If any Murdoch is still in control, which is very unlikely, it will be Elizabeth who doesn’t like the way Ailes runs Fox.

Saranda: I have spent way too much time watching fox over the last 2 plus years. I have watched the methodology of that network transition from hard hitting conservative news and opinion to soft and sloppy casey anthony coverage, to ridiculing a man beacause he is a mormon. Employees from the parent network are guilty and that in itself is reason to suspect, let alone the subtle changes I have seen in their broadcasting. No, they are not barry supporters, however, they are not covering important stories, the opinion shows are centrist at best, I am interested the Beck style approach. Hard hitting, to the point, covering the whole truth. Their so-called conservative commentrators are actually suggesting that barry be given the power to spend our money at will in the name of winning in 2012. Open your eyes and see for yourself.

Try getting a little more variety in your news. GBTV and The Blaze are hardly news sources.,,..opinion sites yes, entertainment mostly, but not for news. Try BBC or even CBC (Canada) or google the local newspapers when news breaks anywhere in the world (you can always find english papers). You will get a perspective that might challenge you, but it will certainly inform you. Read newspapers from wherever you can. I read the Sydney Morning Herald, the National Post from Toronto, the Times of London, and a couple US papers in an informal rotation to get news.
If Glenn Beck is your only source of news (sorry, I just threw up in my mouth a little) you are getting told what to think and how to react. You need to think for yourself.

They continually beat barrys ideas into their viewers heads in what seems to be an attempt at convincing their viewers that his agenda is necessary. You cant count the times that we are told we need to raise the debt ceiling or republicans will lose in 2012, we will need to tax the rich. Over and over again, like mind f….ing. This morning they exploited Rick Perry’s religious beliefs in what I consider a biased approach. Right. And it’s a dead horse that will be alive for a bit longer. Fox News, Murdoch, the most corrupt “news organization” on the planet. The proper name for this organization is International Crime Syndicate. We are witnessing the long awaited unraveling of Murdoch’s criminal enterprise. Here’s an interesting tidbit for the Fox News lovers: http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/mixed-media/2008/01/10/fox-news-knocks-down-brain-room-claim

Note particularly the date on this article, and of course the denial by Fox that any such phone tapping, black ops operation existed in their N.Y. offices.
