SHANKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — Speaking in western Pennsylvania on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, former first lady Laura Bush says “Americans have no division.”
Bush, first lady Michelle Obama and hundreds of people gathered Saturday at memorial service in Shanksville for the victims of Flight 93, which crashed about 60 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.
Bush says that “in the face of terror, Americans chose to overcome evil.”
A moment of silence at the service was broken with relatives reading aloud the names of the 40 passengers and crew who died and a bell tolling for each one.
Flight 93 was en route from Newark, N.J., to San Francisco on Sept. 11, 2001, when hijackers seized control. But passengers fought back and the hijackers responded by crashing the plane.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 7:41pmI agree that Laura Bush is a gracious and gentle-hearted american woman. The only good thing I can say about Michelle Obama today is that she had the decency to upgrade her appearance from the catalog clothes and knotty bun hairdo for today‘s honoring of our nation’s heroes. Thank you for that.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 2:17pmBoth first Ladies did a very nice job of speaking. Our present first lady does not have the Bush class, but she is young. I intend to withhold my judgement on that until they leave the White House. It all depends on whether they trash it and all it‘s surroundings as the Clinton’s did, and whether they stage a trashy circus atmosphere as the Clinton’s did or if they leave quietly and with dignity as their position requires.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 1:15pmTruly this is a poignant day – a day to pay tribute to those fallen, brought down by terrorists.
And both First Ladies gave nice speeches.
But, in the spirit of keeping an eye on the Obamas – please note that it is pretty certain that Laura Bush had scheduled her visit to the PA site – long before Michelle, let them eat cake, Obama. I believe the Material Girl got on the schedule when her handlers were scrambling to put a bandaide on the vacation-gate booboo.
Thing is – no matter how hard she tries – The Bush “class” will never rub off onto the Material Girl – or her husband for that matter. Trying to steal “authencitiy” doesn’t work. And if the Obamas really want to be judged by the folks they stand next to – we have a VERY long list of socialist, marxists, communists…..and no-good, off the wall radicals….. Or where to begin….

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 12:48pmWe as Americans should be ashamed that the memorial for thees Hero’s is still not built and that so much cowardly bickering has gone on to delay it.
The Hero’s of Fight 93 will never be forgotten. They were the first to stand up to these radical terrorist.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 7:43pmTwo thumbs up, Mr. Bees! I agree that that the bickering needs to STOP! I imagine the terrorists sitting around their caves and gleefully watching the in-fighting they have wreaked; the goal is met for them if we don’t decide to be as one again. Posted on September 13, 2010 at 2:16pmThe fact that the “Freedom Tower” and the Flight 93 memorial have not been built yet is one of the greatest tragedies to come out of the aftermath of September 11. Those towers and this memorial should have been in place on the 2nd anniversary of the attacks at the latest. The heroes of Flight 93….Beamer, Bingham, Bradshaw, Burnett, etc….they were the true heroes and sounded the first “shot” in fighting back at radical Islam….it is the great shame of our nation that they have not been officially memorialized 9 years later.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 12:46pmThe passengers of Flight 93 fought back in the only way they could and I suspect that in doing so they spared the White house or Capital (one of them was the logical next target). I also suspect that they knew what the result would be, the odds were against them, but they did the right thing anyway.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 12:34pmAmerica remembers, we shall never forget. Don’t let the liberals push this out of our History, don’t let this president undermine our values by demanding we be tolerant of others and give up our Christian Heritage to pay tribute to those who hated us enough to try and destroy our nation. May he wise up and tell the world we are largely a Christian nation, we are proud of it and we will not take a back seat in deference to Islam. My father was a Christian, my grandparents were, and as far back as I can trace my family they were Christians. We are not ashamed and while we believe in freedom of religion we do not believe in repression of our Religion of Christianity to be subserviant Islam.

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 7:36pmI believe the aftermath of 9/11 caused not only great personal and enduring suffering to those directly affected by the WTC attack, but also great harm to the credibility of the United States and a loss of faith in the cohesion of its people. The worst possible scenario would be for the world to have made up its mind that we are now, and forever more, a country divided. You perpetuate that division. Change.
