Lawmaker Outraged After Fed Reserve Bank Flies Gay Rights Flag Outside Building

Virginia Del. Robert G. Marshall isn‘t happy with Richmond Federal Reserve Bank’s decision to fly a rainbow flag outside of its building. The lawmaker wrote a letter of condemnation to bank officials, calling the decision to fly the gay-rights symbol “a serious deficiency of judgement…not limited to social issues.”
Marshall’s letter, addressed to Richmond Fed President Jeffrey M. Lacker, goes on to say that the bank should not be celebrating homosexual behavior. This, in his view, “undermines the American economy.” The Richmond Times-Dispatch has more:
“The Richmond Fed’s endorsement of costly, anti-social, immoral behavior is rejected by 6,000 years of Western Religious and moral teaching,” writes Marshall, who is among the General Assembly’s most conservative members and has long been outspoken on gay-rights issues. “You want the American people to trust your [judgment] in economic matters when your spokesperson celebrates an attack on public morals?”
Sally Green, the bank’s vice-president and chief operating officer, has a different view. Earlier in the week, she said that the flag provides an example of the bank’s commitment to “acceptance and inclusion.”

It is important to note that the Richmond Fed is a private institution. Some argue that the bank has every right to embrace any cause it would like, including gay rights. Others, though, echo Marshall’s view that the flag presence is offensive.

Call Corporate communications in Richmond VA…. 804-697-8192. I called and spoke with a real person, any other number gets you a recording to leave your concerns. When I called the above number I got Donna Habscott, she would NOT tell me who approved the rainbow flag. She would only take my name and number. I asked did Jim Strader, also in that department approved it, she said, “I can’t answer that.” I was asking that they take the flag down or put me in contact with the person who approved the flag so I can get a Christian Flag approved too. I told her I could be there in one hour, so I could bring a Christian flag to be raised as well.”
Get off your soapbox. This is a private building and has the right to do as they please. Just as you do with your home. Do you want me to call and cry about crap at your private home that bothers me and have you remove it? I thought conservatives dont like intrusion of public lives and property yet you call to intrude upon their property?
You want to fly a flag, by some land and go for it. If you dont like this flag then i suggest if you drive past it look the other way. Conservative are so full of crap

All I ask is that they fly a Christian flag as well. They are in direct control of ‘monetary policy’. They should NOT be pushing a political view. It is NOT their home, it is a public building. Actually 1/3 of the colonists supported the war, 1/3 supported England, 1/3 were indifferent. Only about 3% of the colonists ever took to the field of battle at any one time. It is a PRIVATE bank to which congress ceded their authority to print money.
Our constitution needs to require the Gold Standard, and prohibit Congress from ceding its authority to anybody.
Re-institute the Gold Standard, let the Fed wither on the vine, or abolish it sooner if practical.
Congress needs to follow the Constitution. But, they ignore it every day!

By saying that it’s a choice, they must agree that they hold that capacity to choose to be gay. Do you honestly believe someone can force you to be gay? Are you that insecure with yourself and your sexual orientation to have that fear? I love women. I love everything about them, except that some may be a bit crazy. I will never be gay. I have friends that are gay. They don’t scare me. I will never be attracted to the opposite sex. That’s not a choice I made, it’s who I am, it’s how I was born.
If you don’t believe you have the capacity to choose homosexuality, then how can you make the presumption that homosexuals chose to be gay?

While we all slept, we all awoke with deviants not only in our corporate workplace and government offices, but in our home. There are not less than four flaming gay channels on TV that I had to block along with hundreds of TV programs that are directed specifically to the young future leaders in our homes. When a child goes to school, the indoctrination begins and does not stop when they get home due to the infiltration of garbage on the TV and internet.
I am a warrior that does not know the meaning of fail. Today I am considered by most of the younger generation as an intolerant hating bigot. Did I change? No. The world around me changed. I am finding it harder to insulate my children for the peer pressure of modern morally corrupt educators. I was successful until they went to college. It only took college to chip away at their foundation. When a young adult is surrounded by the morally corrupt in college, they start to question their upbringing and become convinced that the world evolved during their “sheltered” adolescence. The deck is stacked so heavily against them, that it takes a super-human not to be impacted.
Do I waiver or misstep? No. I would sooner die than fail. Fortunately for me, God has given me the strength to counsel my children to see evil for what it is. There were some close calls, but the truth won in the end. NEVER GIVE UP!

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 6:56pmI am not surprised that this has happened. Children grow up and become leaders. Supported by their parents or not, what they learned in school, TV, and the media becomes their malfunctioning moral compass.
My niece was in Junior High school (E.O. Green) here in California when 15 year old gay student was shot and killed by a 14 year old fellow student.You may have seen this in the news a couple years back. The student reacted to unwanted advances by the gay victim that resulted in the irrational actions, resulting in a murder. I spoke to my sister about how she was handling the event and she informed me that the school “counselors” were only concerned with driving home the message that anti-gay communication should be reported immediately and would be dealt with as hate speech. The message is that you cannot openly disagree with homosexuality.
I spoke to my niece and she was convinced that ALL anti-gay people, Christian or otherwise, are deviants that are outside the norm and that this incident was proof positive. That was a few years ago, and I have since counseled her regarding the incident and she is slowly coming around. Homosexuality is promoted in our schools to the point that it is normal for gay students to communicate their desires to those that are intolerant of them. This gay student new this boy was extremely uncomfortable with the advances to the point of public embarrassment and humiliation. He is now awaiting trial in adult court in July of this year.

-Actually you don’t need knowledge to use you genitalia, its instinctual. All animals reproduce, do you think they go to sex-ed classes? Maybe some watched their parents and felt similar urges as crass as that sounds. Who teaches a jellyfish to reproduce? No one. Reproduction is an innate mechanism in the biology of all living creatures. I don‘t know if you have ever experienced urges but eventually I’m sure you’d be able to figure out sex if it was never taught to you.

Yes, humans and animals have instinctual urges to procreate, but just like some animals, there are human beings who misunderstand the biological use of the genitalia as well.
Further, the references I made to God come from a theological belief system. In much the same way, the theories of science can produce no evidence that a God does not exist. The question really boils down to “which theory do you choose to believe is true”.
Seeing no other natural way to procreate and maintain our species, the truth is that the male and female genitalia are meant to use to procreate. Homosexuality is a denial of this truth, a truth that both biological science and religion agree upon.
