Lawmakers Sponsor a Resolution Condemning Death Sentence for Iranian Christian Pastor

Youcef Nadarkhani

Through The Blaze’s coverage, you may be familiar with Youcef Nadarkhani, an Iranian Christian pastor sentenced to death for refusing to renounce his faith and convert back to Islam. Now, Congressional lawmakers are standing in solidarity with the beleaguered faith keeper.

Rep. Joseph Pitts (R-PA) has sponsored a resolution denouncing Iran for its ruling of apostasy against Nadarkhani and calling for his immediate release

“Iran has become more isolated because of their drive for nuclear weapons, and the fundamentalist government has stepped up persecution of religious minorities to deflect criticism,” Pitts told FoxNews. “The persecuted are their own citizens whose only crime is practicing their faith.”

Fox provides some of the background:

Nadarkhani was born to a Muslim family and admits that he was introduced to the teachings of Islam, but claims he never accepted the faith. The charge of apostasy, which in Iran carries the death penalty, is leveled at those who abandon their faith.

Pitts introduced the measure on Friday and so far has the support of seven other members. Nearly 90 members of Congress previously signed a letter supporting Nadarkhani.

Nadarkhani, who also held house church services in Iran, was facing execution after being convicted of apostasy in November of 2010, but appealed his conviction all the way up to the Iranian Supreme Court. That trial was held in the Gilan Provence last September, when he refused to renounce his Christianity. Nadarkhani has been detained for a total of 858 days.

“They now have to decide whether they will live up to their international obligations as a member of the United Nations and a signatory of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” Pitts said.

Thankfully, due to pressure from the international community, the execution has been delayed. At one point Tehran claimed Nadarkhani’s real crime was in being a threat to national security.

Islam is not people, it’s an ideology. An evil, perverted system that needs to be destroyed. Myheroisron, was calling for the end of an evil idea, not the death of Muslims (people).

There may come a time where we must stand up for our faith as this man…Even in the face of death…The Bible tells us to “love not your lives even unto death.” Death will not be final for the true believer..Revelation 20:4-6 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
    5. The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This is the first resurrection.
    6. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Christians have a 600-year history of killing people for not adhering to the tenants of the faith. Their Bible requires burning witches and heretics. Past people were tortured and burned by the Christian church for merely saying that the Earth revolved around the Sun. Of course, since the Christians lost political power during the Enlightenment, they have also lost the power to burn people alive for their beliefs so modern Christians haven’t been burning people in Europe of late. Modern Muslims have political power and like all good dogmatic religious people they use that power to enforce their religious doctrine as if it was the word of God. The problem lies in that fact. People who believe they somehow have divine wisdom are generally intolerant of other people to the point of wanting to kill them. Monotheism is like that.

@MIYEGUMBO..It doesn’t bother me that your an atheist ,you have made some good points, and it is true that just about every long standing religious group is guilty of atrocities, this generally occurs when politicians take control of ,and try to govern through the church…here in the USA ,because of our constitution, and our tolerance of other beliefs,we come closer to true religious freedom, than any nation in history ever has…however the attack on religion we’re seeing now by the Obama Administration has little to do with tolerance, freedom or our constitution..It is a Muslim based jihad against Christianity..and Islam will not tolerate the views of atheists or Christians You may continue to believe there is no God, but you will be doing so on your knees, facing east..

There are myriad religions on this planet with sorted sayings about the mysteries of life. Indeed, God has 100,000 faces and there are libraries filled with wordy, god-written explanations for things being as they are. Nobody believes all beliefs equally true glimpses of the unknowable. Yet we cling to our own small, special spiritual worlds in a the infinitely vast, expanding cosmos.

Clearly, if we judge them by history, our Muslim brothers believe they are doing God’s will on Earth with violence. In this case, they believe God wants murder, in His name, of a man guilty of no more than consciousness crimes. Non-Muslims get squeamish seeing someone snuffed out like this over whispered words of invisible, imaginary moon spirits. No doubt, Islamists have faith this is reasonable religion. Rational people believe it insanity.

This situation should be universally condemned but because the Iranians have God on their side, “religious” assassinations are accepted. And this is just the tip of the Islamic iceberg when it comes to excesses of the Iranian regime’s rabid religiosity. The Islamic Republic has been horror show since its inception under Jimmy Carter. Revolution in the name of religion has wrecked untold lives in Persia. Out of respect for religion, the world watched, heads bowed, mumbling incantations. But have been prayers for the dead and their efficacy is to be judged by how many of those poor people there are walking around who, once dead, now are living.

It is written, “A Muslim . . . may not be killed except for three reasons: as punishment for murder, for adultery, or for apostasy.” This isn’t the only time the Lord talked about this sort of thing. God also said — through his prophet Mohammad in Hadith No. 9.84.57: — “Whoever changes his Islamic religion, then kill him.” So, the Lord has been pretty clear about His desires in this instance so it looks like if you go by the world of God, His will would curtains and not blessings.

Lordy, lordy, lordy. Here our government goes again meddling in other people’s religion. Let’s be honest. This Iranian Christian pastor is just a plaything of God’s will. In Iran, Islam is sacred belief for the State. And good, pious, God-fearing Muslims everywhere know renouncing one’s faith means death. It says so in the Hadith, is preached in the mosques, on YouTube and it’s even been said proudly on the BBC. Death to all apostates is written in the book that is said to be the word of God. People of faith appreciate the consequences of going against God’s whim. Religious people everywhere should stand shoulder to should with the Islamic Republic’s desire to properly practice its religion and the Shari punishments that go with it. If Youcef Nadarkhani didn’t want to get hanged for being Christian, he shouldn’t have been born Muslim. Pretty much, you are born into a your religion and that’s that. For a lot of places, you’re just outta luck if you want to change. Iran is one of those places. People there enjoy the freedom to be as Muslim as one can be. Everyone goes about praising Allah and praying all day. Women enjoy wearing the veil and staying inside. Most men dream of jihad and martyrdom. In many ways, Islamic Iran is Christian heaven with one mean God getting praised all day only there it’s all Mohammadan.

Clearly, in this case the only people who can say anything negative about this sordid situation without being somewhat hypocritical are atheists and a

All good religious people know that in this case death is required as it is written in the word of god as passed down through Mohammad. How can good Christians criticize Muslims for their piety and adherence to their monotheism. Don’t you guys say you all worship the same vengeful, spiteful, jealous and wrathful god? What is difficult to figure out is why good God believers take issue with the holy Islamic leaders doing the will of God on earth as revealed by his Word. The fact is that good people tend to be good and bad people are bad. But if you want good people to do really wicked things, then you need religion.

How about standing beside Israel, not behind them and see how fast the iranian idiots start listening to this kind of stuff. Right now, this might get them to laugh a little because all we can do is threaten them while russia and china shut down our threats.

Israel can handle them all by themselves. They do not need us at all. Yes we stand with israel. I just wish this Administration would stop holding israel back! Let the big dog run and see Iran get poked back to the stone age…

Maybe that freak Surhan will comment on this article and explain how everyone is wrong, that Islam is peaceful, that there is no death penalty for leaving Islam. Just cut and paste all the prior comments where he lied about that.
