Lawrence O’Donnell Talks Beck, ‘Fu**ing Weather’ in Latest Interview

Lawrence O’Donnell, whose show was recently picked to replace the departed Keith Olbermann’s, is hoping to make a name for himself in the world of TV hosting. The “Last Word” host is socialist in a sea of progressives, as he once explained, and in his latest interview with WWD.com he defended his use of the tag by going after Glenn Beck.

It‘s no secret that O’Donnell has showed up on Beck’s radar for his comments about socialism. In a previous response, O’Donnell defended himself by saying “we’re all socialists now,” So when WWD.com brought up the subject of Beck’s criticism, O‘Donnell couldn’t resist a few sarcastic comments:

“I wish I wasn’t saying it for shock value…because this is the only country where you can’t use the word; that word gets to live as a demonization tool,” O’Donnell smirked in a recent interview with WWD, going on to professorially explain that the U.S. government is a mix of socialistic and capitalistic policies. “I owe him [Beck] a thank you. I think his audience is 500 times the size of my audience, and the more he can say it the better.”

He turned to his friend, comedian and illusionist Penn Jillette, who was waiting to catch a late dinner with the anchor, and asked: “You know Glenn. Do I send him flowers? What do I do?”

The flowery language quickly gave way to dirty words. When the conversation topic turned to Rush Limbaugh, O‘Donnell said he doesn’t hate the top conservative talk show host, but he also won’t shy away from criticizing him: “There’s a way to avoid being hated — I can do the f–ing weather.”

The fiery language continued from there:

Back in his office, an exasperated O’Donnell goes on a tear, calling politicians who come on his show with “nothing to offer up” other than talking points “clowns” and “hopeless stick figures.” [Emphasis added]

“There isn’t a magician alive who could get them to drop and reveal anything,” he said, his voice building in intensity. “They’re talking all night to not respond to anything that was a question, so I start doing this” — he cupped his hand to his face — “which you might as well know is a performance device I stole from Mr. Penn Jillette.”

O‘Donnell’s combative and irreverent attitude apparently doesn’t faze MSNBC president Phil Griffin. While discussing O’Donnell to the website, Griffin said “I’m thrilled to have him kicking off prime time,” while admitting what drives the network: “Our vision is unchanged, as is our goal — to beat Fox.”

That’s a tall order. For example, even though MSNBC’s 8 pm ratings increased by 50 percent on O‘Donnell’s first night in that slot, he still trailed Fox‘s 8 pm host Bill O’Reilly by 2 million viewers.

O’Donnell might want to polish up on his forecast delivery.

As a socialist, will Larry ‘donate’ to the Treasury from what of his income remains after taxes? Will he live in a modest home, buy a pre-owned car, and shop at Costco? Does he buy his suits off the rack at Walmart or (I’m allowing) at a respectable mall store, or does he go to exclusive by-appointment-only celebrity shops?

I wonder what’s in his investment portfolio. Will be save with a bank that pays 2% annual interest, or does he have a broker who can net him 9%?

These champagne socialists make me laugh. At least Mao was savvy enough to wear the same uniform everyone else in China had to wear, to put up a front in order to connect with the people. These MSM socialists don’t even bother. Yet, they claim to be for the ‘downtrodden’ and the ‘masses’.

I pity those who buy into that stuff.

      An addendum:

Does anyone remember the actor Paul Newman?

Of his wealth, Newman started a line of food products that are among the best on the market. If I’m not mistaken, the line now includes pet foods.

In any case, there is no profit for Newman’s Own. After taxes, 100% of the income goes to charities. Newman, and his posterity, don’t put a penny in their own pockets. I don‘t know Newman’s politics, but he set up something that benefits everyone: Tasty food for those who buy from him, and to charities for those who might not be able.

When the train comes in, everybody rides.

Will Larry ever so much as think of doing such a thing?

Can MSNBC president Phil Griffin really be that inept and oblivious to what it takes to beat FOX? It might be a bit simplistic but the way you do it is…Find the largest demographic and please them with trustworthy reporting. Instead they have found the largest demographic and offended them with a staff that violates the precepts of journalism. Griffin can’t be serious about beating FOX with the “shock jock” mentality of the people he hires.
When his people denigrate the majority of the population every hour of the day you can’t expect them to tune back in tomorrow. His plan for success lack any sort of logic.

Do you mean to say that his superiors are paying him a large amount of money to conduct business the way he has for some other reason? Do you think that “other reason” is so important to them that being a success in news media is really not their goal? What do you suppose that “other reason” might be that is so almighty important to them? Man, if I were a stockholder, I’d be really, really pissed.

Don‘t bother trying to show things to a liberal like what’s-his-name. His mind is made up, he deals from politics instead of factual information that is available from across the globe.

I read you all the time, and like what I read. Realistically–there is no chance to persuade a hard-core lib until they, themselves, choose to take a step back. Their currency is of feelings–what invades their space is to be immediately discounted.

It’s frustrating, I know. But, maybe, they want us frustrated? To many of them, as they post, they seem to want that. For them, that‘s a ’victory’. I refuse to give them one. And, believe me, I am sometimes so dying to rip with all I have that I drop offline.

Liberals have layered defenses, and there’s no getting through. We can’t even have a reasoned discussion about matters of the day. That’s why I rarely answer them directly.

Best we stay together, I think, and discuss among ourselves what might be the next best course of action. Let the libs speak but, for our own good, ignore them. We are together, and they really aren’t part of us. Let them be.

Just an idea, if you please.

Libs are like bullfrogs though, it’s fun to poke at them and see how high they jump.

I don’t harm animals. I’m fine with hunting, but I won’t ever do it again. Just how I live my life, for me alone.

      Libs, though–fair game.

I rarely answer them, since I know for so long how they play. Normally, I let them stew on their own. But sometimes I can’t resist tossing in a highlight to illustrate them. They can’t be anything else than what they are, like a tiger can’t stop being a cat.

We have a base: the Constitution. Plus, for those of us holding religion, we have that, too.

Marxism, according its own adherents, is a THEORY.

Best, I think, to let them handle that on their own while we discuss matters more solid and definable.

      Or, so I believe.

“A socialist in a sea of progressives”? He could be a progressive in a sea of socialists. What’s the flipping difference? All those bobbing heads look, and think, exactly alike…and they all deserve to be taken down by sharks.

I think this crazy Socialist may be just bright enough to know his time on MSNBC is short… so he better make a splash fast before he is fired like Olberman. I take it back, he is just that stupid because his days are numbered, no one watches that crazy statiion, they are all whack jobs and bitter ofd has beens…that need to retire and go to that old Socialist cave from which they came.

I‘d like to see one of D’Donnell’s guests literally shake him around by the neck…not to kill him…just shake him around by his pencil neck. People like him have no idea what mayhem will ensue by their preachings. They themselves will be victims’ victims (think about it–not a typo). The only strength he has is a big mouth…his mind and body are not strong enough to survive the events that they are pushing.

I wish MSNBC would just depart from the airwaves and free up the space for some real television and real news; but then again at the least while they are on the air we get to see just what the faces of real evil, real arrogance, and real slandering myopic insights of the progressive world really are.

“The health care they recieve comes with their position, much like most jobs in America.”

Are you blind, deaf or both? Do you actually think just because you have a job i nthis country means you automatically get health insurance? Wow…How is someone to get health insurance if they have a pre-existing condition? Because over 120 million people in this country have one and cannot get health care. And no, they are not all unemployed. How is someone to keep their insurance if the insurance company decides to drop them because they get sick? The rest of your word salad makes no sense but this idea that health care is there for the people who work is ignorant to say the least.

Read up a little, will ya?

Seems to me that MSNBC went to a harsher element after cutting ties with Olbermann.

If you had any clue about what the republicans were pushing for, you would know that one of the changes they suggested was that the insurance companies would no longer be allowed to decline people for pre-existing conditions. They also called for tort reform… You know , it’s like jogging in mud with you people. You have no concept of what the ‘other side’ has proposed and yet you hurl nastiness and out right lies. The republican ideas were not heard or acknowleged by the demoncrats. The proposals the republicans made were all ideas that took care of the problems in the system without unconstitutionally mandating people to purchase a product they don’t want. Try to rein in the jealous rhetoric and think about what you are saying.

6 months O`Donnell is gone-Anybody else have opinion on how long he will last now that Comcast, who cares about rating, will put up with his nonsense.
