Lawyer Calls Charges Against Arab Teens Over Football Violence ‘Ridiculous’ & ‘Based on Race’

Arab Teens Charged With Assault & Battery for Violence on Football FieldThere’s a controversy brewing in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, after four teenagers were charged with assault and battery for injuring a young quarterback on the football field last October.

While the question of how harshly these young men should be punished is controversial enough, a lawyer representing them believes they are being targeted simply because they are Arab Americans. Others, though, claim that their crime deserves an appropriate response.

The incident occurred on the field during a game between Star Academy and Lutheran Westland High School. The four perpetrators — Mohamed Ahmed, Fanar Al-Alsady, Hadee Attia and Ali Bajjey (all 17 years of age), students at Star, allegedly (according to the Lutheran coach who is also the victim’s father) defied referees’ orders and charged P.J. Guse, 15, the quarterback for Lutheran.

[Star Academy], which serves students mostly of Middle Eastern descent, was taking a 47-6 drubbing at the hands of Westland Lutheran and tempers flared. As Westland’s quarterback was taking a knee to run out the clock, Star players burst through the offensive line and threw him to the ground.

As a result of his injuries, P.J. was forced to head to the hospital with a grade three concussion. He inevitably missed school and suffered memory loss as well.

WXYZ-TV has more:

“I’m not siding with their conduct — we’re just saying these charges are ridiculous,” said Nabih Ayad, a lawyer for the boys. “We could not find one case for high school football in Michigan where players were charged (for an on-field fight). The only thing we can conclude is that this was based on race.”

While Ayad says that this is a case of discrimination and that the charges are unwarranted, both police and P.J.’s parents believe punishment should be in order. Authorities, who spent three months investigating the violence, claim that a video tape of the incident and witness testimony reinforce this conclusion.

A letter approved by both the Council on American Islamic Relations-Michigan and the NAACP has reportedly been sent to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. According to Ayad, the note calls for the misdemeanor charges against the boys to be dismissed.

    Of course its based on race…the Muslims beat up the Christian QB because that’s what Muslims do…they hate, they fight and that all there is to it. No one can say this is justified or accidental…its a deliberate act of violence or jihad or what ever that cult calls it.

      Not really based on Race.

      The basis of the case is a player getting severely injured by 4 sadistic players on the opposite team.

      Basing this on Race, means that Lutheran’s QB got likewise sacked running out the clock on a knee in prior games against many other teams, but only bringing charges against this one team that has Arabs.

      I’m not sure that this was racially motivated from the outset. It may have evolved into that though. It looks like they were trying to save face because they were being humiliated athletically as one would conclude from the score. Men from this region of the world have a problem with the whole male image and dishonor. That being said, Islam is the religion of hatred, death and violence. It would be only natural to think the young males would have these attributes firmly ingrained in them. They hate Europeans, white people, and they hate Christians. It may be a racial Muslim thing but I think it is more of a male thing because they were being made fools in everyone’s eyes by their obvious lack of physical athletic ability.

      Actually, the attorney is exactly right–it was race. The young man’s race was white christian, and the RACIST HATE caused 4 huge Muslim Islamists to go after him to kill him. The young man FLEW through the AIR! What bunch of bullies!

    of course, nothing will be done about this, due to the fact that our government-both federal and state-are hell bent on buttkissing the moooslim community. the courts will undoubtedly turn a blind eye and after all, “boys will be boys.” sad but true…America has been thoroughly castrated by the PC islam fever machine…protect the “religion of peace” at all costs. kill all the infidels? nah, they were only joking when they said that. force women to endure bodily mutilation, brutal rapes and honor killings all in the name of the glorious allah? nah, that’s all a bunch of bologna. but those Christians and their Jesus who taught them to love their enemies and forgive those who do you wrong..now those guys are a danger to themselves and others. take a good look at the future folks…time to WAKE UP!!!!

    This is the way I see it, the referee told them to stay back, the other boys disobeyed and assaulted the quarterback. This is assault, it just so happens the four are Muslim. They aren’t being charged because they are Muslim, they are being charged because they assaulted this boy, who happens to be Christian.

    I am sick of tired of Muslims claiming they are being targeted because they are Muslim. Here is a thought and it is free advice. Quit attacking Christians and you won’t be targeted.

    This was unsportsmanlike conduct from these players and they knew this was their last year playing football as well as the end of the season, so getting suspended wasn’t a big deal. They did this with MALICE.

    Why does racism only apply, when it’s a white on a minority attack? People of “color” are just as racist, maybe even more so.

    This was obviously a racist, four brown guys on one white guy, Islam on Christian attack.
    The kid they attacked actually looks age 15, but I’m not buying the age of the attackers. They look older than 17.

    The quarterback was taking a knee, to run out the clock. There was no reason for them to defy the referee’s orders and take down the quarterback, other than they were angry because they were being beat by a Lutheran ball team.
    Maybe they thought he was about to do a TEBOW and thank GOD.

    Why does America have a school (Star Academy in MI) that is predominantly middle eastern students? What happened to desegregation? Is my tax money being used to fund this school?

      Eric Holder is another reason not to listen to the SOTU tonight. Holder, like Obama, is a racist. The Muslims will be protected, as Holder will not even consider the question that this could possibly be Muslim hate towards a White Christian.

      To be fair, the whistle blew. They stopped according to the rules. They did what liberals want, let the crime happen, and the authorities will take care of it after the fact. At least in California that’s what they want.

      Serious though, one game my son’s team was playing, a rival, they beat the crap out of the team, and as our team was kneeling, they had one kid dive through the line and clock our QB. The district suspended him and disiplined the coach. That kid was thrown off the team and was one of their star DB’s. School districts usually handle this internally, but in this case, charge the kids.

    I don’t know much about football, except that when a qb takes a knee, they are off limits, right? I don’t know about criminal charges, but I do think that some severe consequence was warranted…. no mention of any school retribution…. Then again, at the risk of sounding racist (which I am not) I wonder if these boys, who go to a school that mostly serves those of Arab descent, are encouraged to treat others this way?
