Leftist Group La Raza Demands Congress Sign ‘Pledge for Respect’ for Latinos

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), a leftist Latino rights group, is launching a campaign to get members of Congress to sign a pledge opposing “irresponsible and inflammatory rhetoric toward Latinos,“ reinforcing Hispanics as ”an integral part of the fabric of America, and vowing to denounce “politicians who dehumanize and scapegoat Latinos.”

Besides affirming the importance of Hispanics, the document, part of the Pledge for Respect campaign, also includes a clause that members of Congress will “meet with advocates and leaders from the Hispanic nonprofit and business communities to hear a Latino perspective on the issues and to find areas of common ground based on our shared values and interests.”
In order to sell the pledge, NCLR hired the Latin funk group Ozomatli to create a PSA-style YouTube video. In it, the group uses scare tactics to make it some some wacky campaign ideas are mainstream political thought.
The ad begins, “Microchips implanted in undocumented immigrants? Landmines on the border? Those are some of the outrageous things that candidates for public office were calling for during the last election. Others used stereotypical and menacing images of Latinos in their campaign ads.”
The group is right that one candidate in Iowa called for illegal aliens to be microchiped while another flippantly mentioned putting land mines on the border. But neither were elected last fall.
“Unfortunately, it hasn’t stopped,” the group says, however, before accusing politicians of “fashioning extreme, draconian proposals against the immigrant and Latino communities:”
The video’s website concludes: “It’s time to tell Congress that we won’t stand for this anymore. We need to know who is with us and who is against us!”
As a side note, Ozomatli has been sent on U.S.-sponsored, taxpayer-funded diplomatic trips, and La Raza sponsored the far-left “One Nation” rally in Washington, D.C. last fall.
In general, the pledge seems odd. The demands the NCLR makes are nothing more than what members of Congress are already expected to do with all citizens. But the pledge also has the feeling of a catch 22: if a member of congress signs it, then it appears he is aligning himself with the NCLR and vowing to give it his ear; but if he doesn’t sign it, he will most likely be demonized by the group and decried as someone “exploiting xenophobia for political gain.”
It’s a lose-lose. Unless you’re La Raza.

Generally speaking, if you come to this country legally then you are an AMERICAN, not some hyphenated citizen. And as such deserve all the respect due to a full citizen. If you are here illegally then you are a criminal and deserve no respect and no special rights or consideration (other than a speedy deportation).
With that in mind, who cares what your original nationality was if you are a legal citizen of this great country? And as such, who cares if the majority of children in Texas schools are Hispanic as long as they, and their parents, are legal citizens. Now, if they are illegal, then they need to be sent home with their parents until such time that their parents can get their rears in gear and get here legally.
They ask us to respect them, but when they come here illegally, trample our laws, impose themselves into our schools, leech off our welfare and clog up our hospitals, where is their respect for us? If they wanted respect they would work to earn it. Those that are here legally have earned that respect, all the others need to shut up or put up. And by put up I mean gain a legal citizenship or go home until you can.
La Raza is not trying to represent those that are here legally (as much as they would like you to believe it) because they don’t need it. They represent the illegals and amnesty and that is the demographic they work for. How do I know? I used to live in a California city where La Raza was a major mover and shaker. I have seen their work first hand and can speak to the truth that they do not care for your rights as a legal citizen, only that you continue to pay for illegals because you need to have sympathy and be empathetic to them regardless of how it may effect you, financially or otherwise.
La Raza is essentially a Union for illegals, and we know how much our current administration loves Unions… especially ones that can deliver potential voters (even if they are illegal… considering the POTUS and his court are from Chicago).

Report Post »I know some great people in all colors that I respect very much. But they deserve my respect, unlike those La Raza hoodlums in the picture. It’s about the content of their charactor. Not the color of their skin, what language they speak, or even their customs. I know Mexican Americans that think these guys are scum!

You have the right to freedom of speech in our country. If you can call any American who doesn’t agree with you a racist, then why do you guys get bent out of shape when someone says something about you, especially when it’s not racist?
If you want to condemn racism, then why don’t you listen to what your own people say about indigenous people in your own countries. Listen to what your people say about Jews in your own countries. Ask yourselves, why was the term “La Raza” coined in the first place?
Oh, by the way, when are you going to complain about the complete lack of Blacks and Asians on Spanish television? You would think that there aren’t any of them in all of Latin America! So, look in the mirror, and start with yourselves!

The mayor and the townspeople couldn’t get rid the pigeons, and the entire town was full of pigeon droppings. The people of the town couldn’t walk on the sidewalks or drive on the roads. It was costing a fortune to try to keep the streets and sidewalks clean.
One day a man came to Town Hall and offered the Mayor a proposition. “I will rid your beautiful town of its plague of pigeons without cost to the city. But, you must promise not to ask me any questions – or you can pay me ten million dollars and ask me only one question.” The Mayor considered the offer briefly, and accepted the free proposition.
The next day the man showed up carrying a small box, and then climbed to the top of Town Hall and opened the small box, releasing a blue pigeon. The blue pigeon circled in the air and flew up into the bright sky. All the pigeons in the town saw the blue pigeon circling above, and flew up to follow him. Without any notice, the blue pigeon headed south out of town, with all the other pigeons following.
Three days later, the blue pigeon returned all alone, with no other pigeons following. To the astonishment of the townspeople and the Mayer, the man and the blue pigeon had performed a wonderful and miraculous feat to rid the town of the plague of pigeons. Even though the man with the blue pigeon had charged nothing, the Mayor decided to pay the ten million dollars just to ask ONE question. The man accepted the money and told the Mayor to ask his question.
The Mayor asked:
“Got a blue Latino?”

Heard on the local a.m. station this morning…a substitute teacher called in to tell that he took over a class for the regular teacher…first thing they always do is…SAY THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE…you know…to start the day off RIGHT…Well…only about 10% of the class stood up out of their seats…the teacher asked the kids why they were not standing…Know what their response was? They told him that they are NOT Americans and that they refuse to pay tribute to the flag of the country that stole their land from them! Now, I’m not certain, but I believe that these children ARE U.S. CITIZENS…IF NOT…I say DEPORT THEM ALL and THEIR FAMILIES and send the regular teacher over the border with them!

If La Raza has so much of their own respect then why do their governments south of us treat their people so poorly? Why do so many come here rather than fix their own countries? What do they think would become of the states they want back? They would just become just like Mexico. If anything La Raza should be trying to get Mexico and South America to become part of the US if they like it here so much better.

I DO NOT have any respect for those Latinos who have broken the law and entered the country illegally and have no allegiance to this country. There is a right way to immigrate to the US and this does nor include just walking across the border without following the laws. Employing illegal immigrants is akin to modern day slavery as the employers pay them minimal wages, use their immigration status over their heads so they can manipulate them, and worst of all their fellow Latinos who are legal citizens shake them down using the threats of turning them in to ICE. This is wrong on so many fronts. Time to secure the borders and enforce the immigration laws…AS WRITTEN. It’s really not that complicated.

First, illegal immigrants are in no position to address our Congress for any rights.
We’re being innundated daily with illegals demanding their “rights” according to our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Phooey!! No way Jose. You get your USA citizenship and we’ll talk.
Second, legal immigrants are citizens and are guaranteed Constitutional rights. I don’t mind the idea of “members of Congress will “meet with advocates and leaders from the Hispanic nonprofit and business communities to hear a Latino perspective on the issues and to find areas of common ground based on our shared values and interests.” AS LONG AS THEY ARE LEGAL IMMIGRANTS.
Rumor says Mexico or at least lliberal Mexicans are nearly demanding TX, AR, and CA be given back to them. Double phooey. We won the war and the spoils belong to the victor. You want another war? Go ahead, start the dance. We’ll finish it victorious. You lose again.
For the USA to survive this massive influx of Mexicans, we MUST close our borders for awhile and put a halt to cultural diversity and mulit culturalism. You wanna live here, you become an American who can communicate in Engllish. No more hyphenated Americans.
