Leftist Walkout Protest Against ‘Racist’ Terrorism Expert at Portland State Fails Miserably

As most anyone who’s watched the television show “Portlandia” knows, the city of Portland is where “the dream of the 90′s” (IE comfortable living without anything resembling work in the real world) is still alive. The city has become one of America’s most potent symbols of radical Leftism. Moreover, the modern university system has itself become a hotbed for Leftist thinking, especially on issues pertaining to Israel, Palestine and Islam.

So when an avowedly Christian, pro-Israeli anti-terrorism expert comes to speak at a university that’s located in Portland, fireworks should be expected. Unfortunately for a group of protesters who decided to stage a walkout against terrorism expert Erick Stakelbeck, those fireworks blew up in their face.

Stakelbeck spoke at Portland State University this Monday on the topic of developments in the Middle East and the growing threat against Israel. The speech was organized by Portland State’s chapter of Christians United for Israel. Naturally enough, controversy dogged the event far before Stakelbeck even set foot on-campus. For instance, fliers advertising the event were defaced with Swastikas and the inscription “Never again includes Palestinians.”

Erick Stakelbeck Publicly Dares Leftist Protesters to Debate Him, Is Met With an Underwhelming Walkout ProtestStakelbeck himself took note of the defacements, and decried them as anti-Semitic propaganda. However, he was at least forewarned of what the reaction would be like, which means he knew precisely what to anticipate when he arrived at Portland State. As he puts it:

It was mostly a motley bunch of hijab and skullcap-clad Muslims, aging ex-hippies and tie-dyed stragglers who looked as if they just rolled in from the local Occupy protest. There were, it must be said, a handful of reasonably normal-looking people with them as well. Normal, except for their brainwashed, aggressive Leftist views.[...]

I locked eyes with a few of them–who were staring a hole through me—gave them a big smile, and said “Hey, thanks for coming out! Be sure to stay for the whole speech—I’d like to talk to you during the Q and A.” They just looked at me, dumbfounded. You could almost hear them mumble through their tape. “Doesn’t he know he’s supposed to be rattled by us?”

Stakelbeck was, as it turns out, anything but rattled. Then again, that’s not surprising, given he was facing this motley crew:

Yes, that’s right, Stakelbeck publicly dared the protesters to debate him, rather than simply sitting silently or walking out. The result was that, instead of looking like courageous protesters against intolerance, the protesters looked like cowards who would rather make public shows of hurt feelings than actually confront what they saw as dangerous ideas.

But don’t tell them that. A cameraman who caught video of their post-protest debriefing caught them exulting that they had forced Stakelbeck to “curb his racism,“ while spouting ad hominem attacks about his ”white privilege” and anti-semitic talking points about Israel. Witness the unintentional comedy below:

    of course. the left likes to protest for protests sake. the more dramatic the better, but facts and logical arguments NEVER had anything to do with it. The left is a parody of itself. so couragous in its cowardice, anything that can be twisted into a “victory” is celebrated. Leftists are the epitome of shallow thought and deed. when it it time to go deeper into an issue after all the bumpersticker slogans, 60′s song lyrics, ad hominem attacks and ‘down twinkles’ all they can do is walk out or sit in dumbfounded silence. all they can do is create a false reality to placate their deranged and easily bruised egos.

      Have you read the Old Covenant (Testament)? If you have, then your reading was rather selective. Either that or you didn’t get much past the 31st chapter of Exodus. If the Jews simply made up a story which we now call the Bible (or at least Old Testament) what reason on earth would they have for writing about so much failure & predict so much misery for themselves?

      How in the world would they have been able to not only predict but bring about the re-gathering of a people scattered about to the ends the earth to the very same real estate they were dispossessed from approx. 2000 yrs earlier? & that wasn’t the 1st time such a prediction & fulfillment had occurred. E.g. read Deuteronomy 28-30.

      The Bible is full of heartache & disaster for the Jewish people – so if that is your idea of “chosen” then I’m guessing they’d say “pick someone else”.

      It amazes me how those who call for the destruction of Israel (not that you are) or those who claim Israel is evil or occupying someone else’s land, do so by denying the Bible’s validity & then deny historical facts. But then I suspect their reason for doing so is because they don’t want to admit to themselves the obvious:

      If Israel being back in the land was a prophecy fulfilled, then the God of the Bible is truly God, therefore I am accountable to Him. Which is a wise & logical conclusion. However denying reality is never a wise reaction to a logical conclusion.

      As for the foreign aid, I’m sure Israel would gladly do w/out it – especially if we stopped funding her enemies at levels & percentages that exceed & in some cases eclipse the aid we send her:

      by the way, the aid for Israel has remained relatively static during the current & past administrations while the aid to her enemies has steadily increased – including Iran which hides under the category of Near East,

      @luke21 Thank you for your response my whole lack of faith in the bible and the Koran and other books is the hand of man has corrupted them .I believe there is a god but which one? the god of the old testament which seams to want to kill everybody like the Canaanites ,when he ordered Moses to kill every man women child or was this Jewish propaganda to justify the genocide to steal their land ?The new testament God seems to be far more merciful but the hand of man left out many things

      bargaining Chip for the other Countries in the Area. They attempt to influence our policies regarding Israel by offering cooperation on other side issue that are important to us.

    The left has now produced a platform that is based on words not principle. That’s it. Can you guess what the words are? It’s really sad. Their platform is based on nothing more than labels such as racist, homophobe, and Islamophobe. They have applied these words to everyone under the sun. Especially, anyone who disagrees with them. Their constituency is full of dolts like this who cannot even form a thought not related to one of these words. I’m not even sure all the people in the room could clearly define “racist”. I’m betting most would define racist as anyone who believes differently than they do. Most just use the word without even the foggiest idea of what it really means.     I hate my state. Most of the voters that pull any weight are in the Portland metro area and they mostly all have this same kindof attitude. I think Oregon would be a much better place if they took the top half of the I5 corridor and turned it into California and left the rest of it as Oregon. If you look at a detailed map of the voting results for the years past you can defiantly tell what counties are farm land and what counties are college towns

      vox how about this? Read some history. You might find out who the Palestinians really are. You also might find out how they got themselves into this mess they are in. Please check out the history of the PLO. You might find them to be less than heroic as assessed by their own people.

He‘s so proud of his 1960’s California commune daze but his fully funded well compensated professional lobbiest / radical protesting progressive sister who is still livin’ the dream in California.       I call the imported leftist “Rent-a-Rabble” but their real title is “Community Organizers”. Let’s look at the short list of self proclaimed community organizers who have made the most impact throughout history. Adolf Hitler, he originally called himself a Community Organizer in 1927. He has to his credit, the extermination or should I say “organizing” of 6 Million Jews. He also started a world war that resulted in 50 Million or so dead. Joseph Stalin, another community organizer who made Hitler look like a lightweight when it came to organizing people, his death count was between 60-120 Million of his own people. Not to mention the millions in the cold war. Another Community Organizer of epic proportion, Pol-pot, his numbers were not so huge but then again, he did not have as many people to organize. If our present Community Organizer in Chief, BHO, had his way, he would organize the Middle East quite differently. Israel would be organized out of existence.
