Lefty Journalist Allegedly Contracts Scabies After Visiting Occupy LA Camp

Yasha Levine, editor of the Moscow-based “eXiled” website, wrote an article yesterday where he detailed his bout with scabies following a trip to an Occupy camp — and the two days in a Los Angeles jail he spent as the result of it.

He wrote:

Until a few days ago, I thought my scabies was just a gnarly poison oak rash…For weeks the rash kept getting worse and worse, and I finally went to a doctor to get some relief. But it turned out that poison oak was the least of my worries.

‘You have scabies,’ said the doc, sucking in his breath through his teeth and shaking his head. It took him no more than 30 seconds to diagnose my condition. ‘The track marks are a dead giveaway,’ he said, and pointed out a couple of elongated welts about a half-inch long creeping up the side of my right ring finger. These ‘tracks marks’ were actually burrows made by  mother-parasites as they tunneled right below the surface of my skin and laid eggs in the process. I had dozens of similar track marks of all shapes and sizes on both hands. As I stared at my hands in disgust, the doc moved to the sink and violently scrubbed his hands with medical soap. Our contact was minimal, but he wasn’t taking any chances. And for good reason.

If left untreated, he writes, your skin can turn into a hardened, “crusty scabies super-colony that [can] take months — even years — to eradicate.”

But what Levine really wanted to know was, where did he contract the disgusting disease?

Scabies has been reported both at Denver and New York Occupy camps, and the incubation period matches up (three months from his visit to the camp, and the appearance of his symptoms).

It is equally likely, though, that Levine just picked up the scabies as the indirect result of his trip to the Occupy camp, contracting the disease in jail.

Either way, his time at the Occupy camp probably didn’t turn out quite as Levine planned.

    In order to contract scabies, you need to have prolonged skin to skin contact. I guess it shows that he was occupying more then just a tent.

      Today is a great day in the OWS saga
      New Haven, CT OWS was kicked out of New Haven City Green,, TODAY. It is trashed , not in a “they left their Trash” way, but what was a beautiful green Green, is now a brown Green. But the New Haven/Yale Concerts on the brown Green are coming up , and YALE won‘t allow anything to interfere with it’s City’s brown Green.

      Interesting. The author went to a doctor with a medical degree that was probably provided by student loans (government) , and went to a medical school (capitalism). The doctor probably provided the patient with a prescription written with a pen from a store (capitalism) and the patient probably took the script (printed on letter head provided by a printing company (capitalism) to a pharmacy (capitalism) and filled it. The prescription in all likelihood was produced by a major pharmaceutical company (capitalism) and I hope the patient paid for it either through his insurance (capitalism) or via his credit card (capitalism).

      Or he could have just gone back to the OWS and shared his bounty.

      I vote for scenario A. Of course, the burning question is “Did he learn anything from this experience?”

      or they are super scabies coming from the super filthy leaches I mean occupiers. seriously some of these pests are becoming very resistent to treatment and more aggressive. I would say the amount of handshaking this guy did for interviews would do it.

    The saddest part of this is that this man flew on a plane, probably ate in restaurants, slept in hotels, all since that time and possibly infected innocent children, mothers, anyone he came in contact with. He went as an adult knowingly to an OWS campsite, so he can’t really complain, but his visit probably has hurt some innocent people as well.

    Glenn warned everyone about the filth and the lawlessness going on in the Occupy Movement. Some people just won’t listen.

    When you have an encampment filled with trash, rotting food scraps, filthy blankets and sleeping bags, rodents, along with hundreds of people who haven’t been near a shower or a tub in weeks, well what else can you expect.

    He’s damn lucky that all he got was Scabies.
