‘Legalized Bribery’: How Bad is Congressional Insider Trading? You Might be Shocked at Some of the Details Revealed by Glenn Beck and Peter Schweizer

“How can we fix our country with this going on?” Glenn Beck asks Peter Schweizer.
“We can’t,” Schweizer responds, shaking his head. “And you know, Glenn, if we can’t fix this?”
“You can’t fix anything,” Beck says, finishing the sentence for him.
What are they discussing that’s so serious as to prohibit America from being fixed? Congressional insider trading.
In case you‘re unfamiliar with Washington’s most recent scandal, Peter Schweizer has written a bombshell book titled “Throw Them all Out” that carefully details multiple cases where members of Congress have made outrageous gains in the stock market by trading on information available only to them. Ordinarily, that’s called “insider trading” and it’s highly illegal. Yet, somehow, Congress is able to get away with it.
And it doesn’t end there. It seems that several people have been profiting from Washington’s insider information. As reported earlier on The Blaze:
Similar to some members of Congress, billionaire philanthropist and market speculator Warren Buffett has allegedly been using an “informational advantage” to make bets and investments on the market.
The man who once said, “Through the tax code, there has been class warfare waged, and my class has won,” might have been investing in the markets with information that only he and a select few had been given access [because of his government connections].
You think that’s bad? How about this:
. . . in July 2008, then-Treasury Secretary Paulson met with several hedge fund managers and told them that a government takeover of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac was a very real possibility.
Why is this shocking? Consider the fact that just a week before informing hedge fund managers that the Fed would be moving in on Fannie and Freddie, Paulson testified before the U.S. Senate (as well as various media outlets) that government intervention in Fannie and Freddie was near “impossible.”
…the group of managers could have profited off the the information Paulson gave them…
What’s most disturbing–and frustrating–is that this been going on for some time and it’s all completely legal.
How?
“The rules for what can or cannot be disclosed by government officials are often either unclear or nonexistent,” writes Richard Teitelbaum of Bloomberg. Simply put, there’s no law against members of Congress engaging in the same behavior that put Martha Stewart behind bars.
Makes sense. Think about it: if you are a government official acting in a way that many would view as illegal, but is only legal because you “failed” to make a law against it, what are the voters going to do? Call a cop?
See Glenn Beck and Peter Schweizer reveal which members of Congress profited from insider information, how much they made, and how they did it via GBTV:

And no one has done anything about it since.
And then when asked about such shenanigans members of congress such as the two faced Nancy Pelosi lies through her teeth:

Posted on December 6, 2011 at 10:19amThe rules regarding insider trading are nonsense anyway. Why should people not be permitted to act upon the information they have? On the surface, we are told that it is an unfair advantage. However, when you think about it, it serves a market purpose, and remember, information is not certainty. Just because company A plans to do activity B, doesn’t mean that it will all pan out in the long run. Insider Trading legislation was just an excuse for government takeover and control of private finance. Still, it doesn’t justify unethical behavior on the part of our representatives. We should throw them out. We should not have voted in people lacking in moral rectitude.

My figures are always confirmed by how many vote on unconstitutional .
Termed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and drafted behind closed doors by Senators Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) the NDAA would:
1) Explicitly authorize the federal government to indefinitely imprison without charge or trial American citizens and others picked up inside and outside the United States;
(2) Mandate military detention of some civilians who would otherwise be outside of military control, including civilians picked up within the United States itself; and
(3) Transfer to the Department of Defense core prosecutorial, investigative, law enforcement, penal, and custodial authority and responsibility now held by the Department of Justice.
Only 7 of 100 senators voted NAY to this Unconstitutional bill.
It is also an unnessessary bill, just riding on the fear-mongering that has been instilled into the public by TWO of the Global Elite‘s Weapon’s, It’s U.S. Government, now a Corporation to the world’s banksters, and their Media Outlets.

Because then you will find out that your Birth Certificate and Social Security “Bonds” are held under UCC liens, and sometimes traded on the stock market.
That’s right, we were all pledged to the Federal Reserve PRIVATE Bank for the bankruptcy of 1933.
Birth Certificates became law in all states in 1933, and Social Security in 1936.

Under the doctrine of Parens Patriae, “Government As Parent”, as a result of the manipulated bankruptcy of the United States of America in 1930, ALL the assets of the American people, their person, and of our country itself are held by the Depository Trust Corporation at 55 Water Street, NY, NY, secured by UCC Commercial Liens, which are then monetized as “debt money” by the Federal Reserve. It may interest you to know that under the umbrella of the Depository Trust Corporation lies the CEDE Corporation, the Federal Reserve Corporation, the American Bar Association, the legal arm of the banking interests, and the Internal Revenue Service, the system’s collection agency.

Well, let’s see. Very few politicians enter the congress as millionaires. But the vast majority (if they ever do leave) leave as millionaires. Which is puzzling, because they don’t make $200K a year in that capacity.
Now, I’ve known that this was going on for YEARS and YEARS. Because I can add. And I can keep my eye on the ball.
IMHBLO, this isn’t going to stop. And Americans are gong to continue to be robbed by our elected politicians. And, I further predict, that no media resource will pay any attention to it. This is what the both of these ‘co-conspirators’ (if you will) call a ‘non sequitur’. Mostly because it will affect their access to the offices of politicians, their parties and their jokes when they piss them off.
American media (MSM) is a disgraced industry, no doubt. It depends on reciprocity today, rather than hard work and ethical “journalism”. It lays back and laps up the crumbs that fall from the mouths of politicians as though they were real sustenance and no one can tell the difference. Well, They are wrong, again.

When I saw this yesterday I was so angry b/c Schweizer was able o go into more detail than he has in previous interviews. If this country does fall apart these people well… I wont say it here …. I was stating that a majority of the agencies and bureaus that are Unconstitutional have been established after 1933.
I know the federal reserve Act was singed by Woodrow Wilson in 1913.
I also know this about the IRS:
In 1894, Congress passed a law which purportedly imposed a “direct income tax” on the Citizens of the several States within this Union, but failed to make any provision for apportionment, as required by Article I, Section 2, Clause 3, of the Constitution of the United States of America. In the case of Pollack vs. Farmers Loan & Trust Co., US (1895), the U.S. Supreme Court struck the law down, as being unconstitutional, because it failed to make any provision for apportionment, as required by Article I, Section 2, Clause 3.
Thereafter, Congress passed the Sixteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which was “declared” to have been ratified in 1913. The Sixteenth Amendment provides that:
“The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.”

To be fair, this was because the Federalists — being good men, themselves — couldn’t imagine the people we would become. They promised that what this story reveals is happening would never happen because “Congress would never vote a rod against itself.” Well, as we see, Congress didn’t vote a rod against itself: it voted the rod against us while exempting itself.
As we try to explain to people, this is a clear violation of Natural Rights and Natural Law, and of the Social Contract that is our Constitution. Government can have no authority that we do not possess as individuals because we cannot contract to grant it authority we do not have to give. If we ever hope to stop and correct this sort of abuse, we must not only understand the Constitution, we must re-learn the Declaration of Independence and — more importantly — where the ideals and principles it declares came from. Teaching the philosophy that founded America is the mission of Stick and Twig. We hope you’ll join us.

Posted on December 6, 2011 at 8:03amWhat it comes to is this, and what Glenn, his guest and many of us in America do understand well…
The structure of any organization (the government here) is only as strong as the base and the top are all togeather; if the top is allowed to become corrupt by the inaction of the governed, then all will rot from the top down, and eventually topple.
So until we clean the top out, sanitize it completely, we will still be in danger of losing the Republic; this is why the culture of corruption allowed in DC for so long has allowed the elitist political class to gain so much power and feel they are above the law (for now at least).

Posted on December 6, 2011 at 7:38amI don’t know if you ever read the Constitution or not but I have (not the Amendments, yet). But did you know, in the Constitution it says in Article 1, Section 6 “The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.”
Let mIt sounds as if they cannot be arrested for any reason, except those listed, while a member of Congress. Am I missing something?
According to an article I found on http://www.shmoop.com/constitution/article-1-section-6.html “…“ congressmen have ”legislative immunity”; that is, they cannot be charged with a crime for anything they say in Congress, and they cannot be arrested or harassed by the police unless they have committed treason or other serious crimes. The idea here is to ensure that the president can’t abuse his powers by arresting or jailing legislators who disagree with him.”
Um, it also means they are immune from being arrested for breaking the law so the legislators can abuse their powers. Not abuse of the checks and balances system but abuse to do whatever they want – free from prosecution except for the reasons list

The libs control the education or lack of, from Kindergarten up thru college. The young of our country have no concept of hard work and working to achieve financial independence from parents and government. They are incouraged to dream and are given way too much by their parents instilling a sense of entitlement that carries over into their adult lives. Surprise surprise the elected officials sound just like the teachers they had in school so they vote for them. MSM dictates who gets elected and who doesn’t. Anyone who says the MSM doesn’t have an impact consider VA Senatorial candidate George Allen, he says the word “Macaca” and it appears over 14,000 times in the press prior to the election and he loses a race he was leading by huge margins. We need to have a long term plan and the means to implement it to save our country. I unfortunately don’t think the conservatives have the mindset to do that. Revolution is coming and it ain’t gonna be pretty.

because these legislators who can become millionaires through insider trading:
1. WRITE THE LAWS that legally facilitate such trading,
2. GIVE THE COMPANIES TAXPAYER MONEY to promote the deals,
3. DETERMINE WHICH COMPANIES ARE ALLOWED TO GROW, MERGE, SPLIT
4. DETERMINE IF COMPETITORS RECEIVE THE SAME TREATMENT
5. SECRETLY USE CRONY CAPITALISM for themselves and thereby
6. DESTROY THE FREE MARKET, capitalism, and American way of life,
and ultimately
7. TRAMPLE THE CONSTITUTION and the American Dream.
These cheating legislators have literally stolen the homes of elderly and candy from children.
No wonder legislators will lie, cheat, steal, negotiate….to stay in office.
They will say and do anything for a vote….give the voters cash for houses, cash for cars, cash for tax credits, cash for being unemployed, cash for health care, cash for free food at school, cash for free education, cash..cash..cash for votes..votes..votes.

Posted on December 6, 2011 at 6:36amIt’s true, there was a significant influence of insider trading during the healthcare debate, esp. before votes were finalized in Congress on whether or not it Obamacare would pass. They’ve done the same thing during debt ceiling debates and hedged against the markets before they would become public information. Another debt ceiling debate is going to occur in the middle of January and they’ll end up committing insider trading acts on Congressional knowledge again to leverage and hedge their gains. It’s no coincidence they end up becoming millionaires and billionaires (esp. the liberals) shortly after being sworn in despite many of them swearing they’re against capitalism.

For Congress to say what they’re doing is even remotely ethical despite being technically legal is absurd and ludicrous. Even before debt limit debates are announced, stocks have tanked beforehand before this information was publicized. Another debt limit debate will occur again in the middle of January and just as always, Congress will once again use insider information to leverage and hedge their gains throughout this entire process through Congressional insider knowledge and trading.
