Bristol has chosen to be a public figure, now that she’s going on a TV show. She’s now fair game for jokes.

I really like Jay, but the question is would have taken such a cheap shot at a Hollywood starlet in a similar situation. I think not.

Truth: If it wasn’t for her mom Sarah Palin, Bristol would just be another single mother trying to get by like everyone else. She is going to have to put up with the crap in order to be in the limelight. I‘m sure she wouldn’t trade the opportunity of fame for no scrutiny or criticism.

Why is this young woman in the spotlight anyway. Is her claim to fame that she was born to Sarah Palin? She needs to get a regular job, one she is qualified for, raise her child and go on about her life. She puts herself out there to be used for a few dollars. She should have more respect for herself and her family.

You have to be “qualified” to be on DWTS? I’ve always called it, “Dancing with the Has Beens and Wannabes”. Bristol has just as much right to be there as anyone else. And if it helps her support her son, she should go for it.

I agree wholeheartedly – she puts herself out there and then everybody complains about how she is treated. When are we going to get it???

I think the audience gasp and than booing tells the whole story. It was a bad comment that Jay immediately knew crossed the line. He apologized, because he knew he was better than that. The problem is that Letterman can make a comment like that, and not care. And instead of apologizing like Jay did, he will try to create a ratings bonanza out of it.

Good Gravy People! It was a joke…get over yourselves. Liberals are the ones who get offended at everything! We are stronger than that…learn to laugh at yourselves! We all make mistakes, if we make a public one…well…you gotta deal with the pokes, jabs, and jokes you get! Don’t teach our kids to be wimpy, whiny brats; crying every time someone makes fun of them…laugh and do right! Do right, do right!

It was a joke, (in poor taste, but. . .) he said it to her face, which is better than most people get from the late night crowd. She made a mistake in the past and he went with the joke. Was it wrong? probably not, would he have done that to a progressive sitting there with him? Probably not, but at least he was respectful enough to apologize afterward when he saw that she did not think it was funny.

WHY IS BRISTOL PALIN IN THE PUBLIC EYE. SHE IS A NOBODY. ANYTIME THE MEDIA PUTS here out there. it is only to hopefully embarrass Sarah Palin somehow. Bristol you are famous because your mother is a great and wonderful person. Your biggest accomplishment in life is attempting to ruin your life with a young moron man. Please go away. Let the spotlight continue to shine on your Mom. It is your Mom who is the great person, you are nobody. Please go away for a while…. We’ll see you again, after your Mom and Dad move into the White House!

What is the standard by which somebody becomes a nobody? Or a nobody becomes a somebody? And who gets to decide?

Bristol had a choice to make. Confront her challenges in life or run from them. She seems to be doing just fine. I’d say she is a stark contrast to Levi Johnston. He’s on the Jersey Shore path of life. Bristol on another. It’s good for the public to see that contrast. I would have zero respect for Bristol if she were behaving the same as Johnston.

Figures, some use the ‘race card’ and some use ‘filth’ to get attention. This show’s ratings prove it is not working. He‘s tanking and as he goes down he’s grasping at anything (filth) to save his sorry self.

I’ve always liked Jay and thought overall he was the most fair between he and Letterman. He doesn’t seem to have a problem poking fun at the left when necessary. Plus he isn’t overtly political like Letterman is.

I agree, Jaimo. He is the most balanced, now. That wasn’t the case during the elections. Every night the same old jokes: Hillary’s in the race too long, McCain is old, Bush is stupid. The only time he mentioned Obama was to set up a joke against someone else. I like Jay, but it got too unbalanced. He’s better, now, but kids should always be off limits. Period. No matter what.

I wish ALL of you would STOP referring to her son as a “mistake” It was the choice of father that was the mistake, not that previous baby. Obama wouldn’t punish his daughters with a baby, off they’d go to the abortionist on your tax dollar.

D55May: Relax. I don’t think people are referring to her son as a mistake. I think when a teenager has premarital sex and gets pregnant, that is a bit of a whoopsy, no? Her son, a product of her mistake is not THE mistake.
