‘Let Me Kill Him!’: GA Man Attacks Sister’s Alleged Killer in Court

It was an unbelievable scene of raw emotion in Columbus, GA. The brother of murder victim Jilani Platt interrupted courtroom proceedings for Jilian’s alleged killer — her husband Zyderrious Platt — when he charged the suspect screaming “He should die! Give him to me…please let me kill him!” and launching a chair at the man:
From WTVM:
Platt, 33, faces several counts of murder and feticide for allegedly shooting Jilani, a 26-year-old mother-to-be, in the head with a Luger handgun.
Investigators say the couple got into an argument over rent money that escalated into a scuffle.
Platt allegedly told police, he choked her and she fell to the floor at the top of the staircase in their Crystal Court apartment.
Platt allegedly claims he left and came back home, only to find Jilani at the bottom of the stairs, not moving.
WTVM reports the brother was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs, but no word yet on if he was charged with anything.

Posted on January 26, 2011 at 8:27amAs much as I sympathize with the brother of the victim, I also understand that the deputies took an oath to protect the public, even scumbag maggots like the defendant. They did their jobs with remarkable restraint and should be commended for it. Remember, as distasteful as the judicial system has become, one is STILL presumed innocent until proven GUILTY….That is the premise our country was founded on, but sadly it has been perverted by many of the practioners of law…..

Posted on January 26, 2011 at 8:36amVery True, the deputies did what they were trained to do & apparently used some common sense afterwards. Here’s an update from the local news station (WTVM):
Report Post »The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Department tells us Gerald Carter, the brother of Jilani Platt, will not be facing contempt or any other charges for attacking murder suspect Zyderrious Platt, “The only thing I can really tell you is he’s a brother that was really upset and apparently loved his sister tremendously.”

Posted on January 26, 2011 at 8:54amYep, you are right, the deputies did a most commendable job in restraining this poor soul. That piece of crap is getting his constitutional rights protected, which he should be. I hope he fries though if he killed that woman. I also COMPLETELY understand the frustration, emotion and wanting retribution this man has for the death of his sister. As corrupt as our legal system has come (the person with the most money generally wins) there is no way I can blame him for what he attempted to do. Personally, I hope since he did little more then an outburst that had to be contained, I hope they don’t charge him with anything. Just let him cool off and send him home. Of course you are not going to be able to let him back in the courtroom. This is where faith in our Lord helps one overcome the want to kill. I‘m a christian and I’m not sure I wouldn’t try to do the same thing. God bless this man and his family and my prayers are with them.

Posted on January 26, 2011 at 8:00amFor those of us who know the correct course of action to take with people like this murderer, it is more than we can bear to watch a disingenuous trial like this. Judges and lawyers are not people. Make no mistake, the majority of them simply contort the law to make money. They rarely dispense justice or defend the individual’s liberty.

Posted on January 26, 2011 at 7:46amLet him have the man. Don’t protect and shield monsters while living under the guise of being civilized. Once found guilty he should be meat for the man to deal with as he pleases. That man would not have done this if he felt that the system was fair. The legal system broke down and went to the highest payer some time ago. Liberal judges with teddy bear self esteem ideology have polluted the blind lady’s true justice. Like in other places he might get the death sentence until a liberal decided you can’t execute people and his charge will be dropped to manslaughter and due to overcrowding and a firm gym regimen with a lot of “I found God in Prison” talk he will be set free to make space for budget cuts so a fat pension can be maintained. This has actually happened before. Get used to it. Don’t taze the man bro. Let him have his moment. he would have lived with the consequences. I say we all pitch in to buy a pack of smokes for the man that beats the guy to death in prison.

I thought TheBlaze was going to be a different kind of news site one that would give us the opportunity to make a difference. What’s worse is letting some of these guilty people go back out on the streets to commit their crimes all over again…The laws for these kind of criminals should be changed drastically……

Posted on January 26, 2011 at 8:21amThat “poor man” attacked an innocent man. Or did you forget defendants have the presumption of innocence? There‘s a reason we don’t hand the accused over to the victims or their family – they’re not thinking clearly.
This “poor man” attacked an innocent man. If that doesn’t matter to you then you have no place opining on any aspect of this case.

Report Post »The presumption of “innocence before proven guilty” applies to the justice system, not to what an individual has to think and feel. This notion that individuals cannot make up their own minds until the courts do is just part of brainwashing us into total reliance on government. I totally felt for the victim’s brother, and so did the cops who HAD to take him down. Kudos to them for doing it with as much compassion as possible.

He’s a BIG guy. He wanted to kill that murderer. If they didn’t stop him, who would? And they didn’t sound angry at him to me. I think they understood what was going on. Posted on January 26, 2011 at 11:39amThe reason that we have situations like this in the first place is because so many judges (and our justice system as a whole) is sympathetic to criminals and indifferent (at best) toward victims. People are fed up with a system they do not trust to dispatch justice properly. Look at how child molesters are coddled and rapists, murders etc. Oh but let someone not pay their taxes and see what kind of penalty they get. Our injustice system has been corrupted by many of the same people and ideals that have brought this country to its knees. I would love a follow up to see what this guy gets charged with !!!

Don’t know about you, but some of the cops that I know of who have responded to horrific murder scenes would be telling the brother, “Take a number, get in line.” Our local guys just nailed a pair of murderers who killed a gas station store clerk in cold blood a year ago. Our guys knew who they were, but they had to wait until one of them got out of jail so they could get all the evidence. And they got those slimy excuses of humanity, complete with high fives all around.
The other thing is that whatever they do, the court officers and the police officers DO NOT want the suspect to have any type of technicality happen that would invalidate the court proceedings or allow the suspect to get off.
