World ‘Let’s F***ing Dance!’: Argentine Paper Apologizes for Comic of Hitler Mocking Jews About to Be Turned Into Soap

Argentine Paper Apologizes for Hitler Themed Comic Strip Mocking Jews in Concentration CampsCertain subjects are so inappropriate as a subject for comedy, it’s a wonder any comedian or artist would see fit to take them on.

One would hope the suffering of Jews about to be exterminated in Nazi concentration camps would be one of those. Apparently not so for one Argentine comic strip artist, who is now facing complaints from fellow citizens of the Latin American country.

According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA):

The cartoon, by Gustavo Sala, depicts a DJ performing at a concentration camp and Hitler instructing inmates to “have fun because life is short.”

In a play on the name of a famous French DJ David Guetta, here is the controversial strip about “David Gueto, Concentration Camp DJ:”

In the first panel, DJ David shouts: “Let’s f***ing dance! Party! Party!” To which the prisoners reply they have nothing to celebrate because they are going to be exterminated in mass.

None other than Señor Hitler enters in the third panel, telling the inmates in striped garb that a little fun can’t hurt, adding “have fun, because life is short.”

In the fourth and final panel, while the inmates dance wildly, Hitler thanks the DJ and quips, “If they are relaxed then the soap comes out much better.”

According to JTA:

Guillermo Borger, president of AMIA, Argentina’s main Jewish community organization, called the cartoon a “provocation.”

“As a son of Holocaust survivors, I will fight against this type of shameful provocation until the final consequence,” Borger said.

Just a day after publishing the anti-Semitic strip, the newspaper issued an apology on Friday.  A statement from Pagina 12 said it ““regrets the pain and distress caused” by the cartoon. It’s doubtful the editors or artist were aware that Friday January 20th was the 70th anniversary of the Wannsee Conference outside Berlin, when the Nazi regime decided on the systematic extermination of European Jews or that this coming Friday marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The flippant use of Holocaust imagery around the world is not unprecedented. Most recently, a Dubai gym was criticized for touting a concentration camp weight loss program, replete with Auschwitz train tracks in its advertisement. In November, the Anti-Defamation League asked an Indian television station to consider changing the name of a soap opera, “Hitler Didi,” or “Auntie Hitler.”

    In regards to the hyperventilation to this crudely-drawn comic, I can’t help but be reminded of the Muslim reaction to those Danish cartoons. I would hope someday, as a culture, we wouldn’t go into full-berzerker mode over some scribbles made in poor taste.

    I don’t personally like the modern-day GARFIELD, so I-DON’T-READ-IT! What a novel idea.

    I liked this cartoon.

    No one believes that Holocaust victims danced, resigned to their fate.

    This cartoon dramatizes the absurdity of a populace — deprived of its freedoms and fleeced to support the state — being distracted and placated by senseless entertainments (sports, TV, etc.).

    The stupid reality is that many of us are still dancing.

      o I broke my promise to never post again, but I have to say this one last thing. How do we fight fire with fire? Not with a bloody revolution, it is not necessary at this point. Here is what ALL right minded Americans need to do:
      We pick a date, we ALL call in sick, and stay sick for a week, we bring this country to it’s knees! If that does not do it, quit your jobs! How will they pay for their crimes, if they have no tax revenue? How will they control us, millions of us all at the same time?

      The Nazis kept meticulous records. They kept names, dates and references to the numbers that were tatooed on the arms of the people in the camps. They went so far as to tatoo a full Star of David next to the number for full Jews, a triangle (half Star of David) for half Jews and no symbol next to the number for non Jews. They KNEW who their victims were and the records show this. The Nazis used an IBM created record keeping system to keep track of all this and that’s where the numbers were generated from. That’s how we know how many Jews were killed and non Jews were killed. Roughly 6 million Jews and roughly 5 million non-Jews making a total of 11 million people murdered by the hands of the Nazis and their collaborators. It’s funny how I never hear Holocaust deniers dispute the 5 million non-Jews, just the 6 million count of Jews.

      Furthermore your account is rather ridiculous given that it was a Polish Jew who came up with the original 4 million in Auschwitz which now stands at 1.2 million. Did he not rely on the German records or did he pull it out his you know what?

      So you are concerned about these 11 Million deaths are you? Why are you not concerned over the 20 million murdered in Russia before WW2? Or the 50 million murdered by Mao following WW2? What’s so special about the supposed 6 million which gets all of our attention?

      Personally I’m much more concerned with the 20 million and 50 million if for no other reason it was a much larger event. Maybe if some Russians or Chinese owned some Media in America we could sympathize with them a little more eh?

      Where I think people get their knickers in a knot is that there were 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis, 5 million non-jews. There were also 6+ million non-jews confirmed killed or “disappeared” at the hands of the Soviets in the same time period and yet very little is ever said about that. The Soviet action was also a systematic extermination agreed upon by the Soviets and Germans in the secretive Molotov-Ribbentrop pact where they agreed that the Germans would target the Jews and the Soviets would target University graduates, teachers, Bourgeoisie families, Catholics, civilians with Polish sounding names and other “untermenchen”. Both sides acted in a systematic way to wipe out certain populations with the goal of destroying the area’s underlying cohesive culture.

      After the non-aggression pact fell apart in 1941, Hitler put out an order to the armies to target Poles with the same aim of wiping them out so that Germans could live on the lands without the risk of Polonization (the Germans had tried this before and failed). So the systematic killing of the general population in Poland and Ukraine by the Germans did not start in earnest until 1941 two years after the initial invasion. The Americans did not get so far as areas controled by the Russians (allies) at the end of the war so the pictures of the horrors at their hands were not published or highlighted.

      What do you care what movies are made? I imagine they weren’t successful at getting your sympathy anyway.       Your assumption that anyone who points out that anyone who points out that others were also targeted is akin to being a holocost denier is bunk. Far from being a Holocaust denier, my Grandmother and her family are in the book of the Righteous, she spent time in Auschwitz for aid rendered to Jews; European history overall, with respect of what happened to the Jews and how it was allowed to happen is VERY relevant to any discussion we have on the subject as the situations that allowed it to happen were in place long before the first brick was laid for concentration camps.

      Since when was WWII a war to “save the Jews”. Every country that declared war on Germany did so after Germany took aggressive action. If Hitler had been only concerned with a pure Germany, why did he invade Poland, Russia, France, Italy and many others? Why did he repeatedly bomb Britain? If Hitler hadn’t attacked neighboring countries no one would have stopped him. Of course that would mean hardly any Jews would have been murdered by comparison (over half of German Jews fled the country to escape Hitler) so you wouldn’t have liked that either, would you? My great-grandfather, who owned a butcher shop in Germany, fled the country after ensuring his children had made it to safety. Was he trying to “control Germany”? He processed meat!

      Did I EVER say Germany invaded France and England? Reread my post. I specifically said that Germany made the first move. This “Germany for Germans” of yours launched unprovoked invasions of Czechoslovakia and Poland. France and England entered the war in response to these actions. Based on Hitlers actions, I would say he preferred a Europe for Aryans over a Germany for Germans. Also, weren’t German Jews CITIZENS of Germany? If he was only concerned about Germany being exclusively German (which still wouldn’t justify murdering Jews in any amount), why did he have 3 million Poles put to death.
      Since you won’t hut up about it, I’ll answer your question. No the number of deaths at Auschwitz wasn’t 4 million. But before you say that the number of Jews murdered isn’t about 6 million, let’s do the math. If about 1 million died at Auschwitz, another million total from Treblinka and Sobibor, and another million from the Einsatzgruppen, we’re already at 3 million. That’s only 3 camps and the squads of mass murderers who swept through Poland. Add in Belzec and Chelmno and you have another million. We still have dozens of camps, even more ghettos, death marches etc. and you‘ll break 5 million long before you’ve finished adding them up. If the 4 million was accurate, there would have been more than 6 million dead Jews.

      In response as to why we didn’t stop Russia, the answer is simply that we lacked the capability. We were waging total war just to stop Hitler from conquering all of Europe and we still needed Russia to turn the tide. We didn’t have the means to even force them out of East Germany. Do you really think we were up to the task of stopping them? The reason the Cold War was cold was because neither side was willing or able to wage total war the way they had in WWII. It’s regrettable, but other than try to hold the back and prevent them from causing even more damage, there was little else we could do. That’s why we kept our troops in Germany for so long. We were telling the Russians that they would go no further into Europe without going through us.

But weren’t they claiming 6 million when the sign still read 4 million? By the way since you are being so forthcoming maybe you’d dare answer this question. Was WW2 the only time in which International Jewry ever claimed there were 6 million Jews murdered in the 20th century?

      Your defense of Russia and the German invasion of Poland and Chek: First of all these are two entirely different animals. Most of what Germany was doing in the late 30s was a direct result of the Treaty of Versailles. The Germans obviously felt they had been raped and screwed and obviously they blamed the Jews for this since there were so many Jews at the signing of the treaty. Furthermore, Jews were blamed for the loss of WW1 due to their involvement in the Balfour Declaration. I believe they were entirely correct to blame the Jews.

      Wow just wow. No war with Russia? What about the allied intervention in the Russian civil war? You know, when we TRIED to stop the Bolsheviks from succeeding. Forget about that little detail. Only one problem; we FAILED. Too many people in Russia were trying to get rid of the Czar for us to prevent the rise of Communism.
      I personally never heard of any figures stating 4 million died at Auschwitz. That sign was put up when Poland was under control of the Soviets. It was removed following the Soviet collapse. Even when the sign was up it was questioned, but the Russians and Poles wanted to demonize Hitler with propaganda.
      When did I EVER defend Russia? All I said was there was no one capable of stopping them. We did hold them at bay but that was the best we could do, especially after they went nuclear.
      Hitler didn’t take “revenge” until after Germany had been decimated in WWII? This is blatantly false. WWII started in 1939, but the Nuremberg laws were passed in 1935, 4 YEARS beforehand. The Einsatzgruppen began massacring Jews in 1939. When your arguments don’t work you resort to lies to make your point?!
      As for Jews “causing” Germany’s problems, it was Britain and France who insisted on reparations and raping Germany, not the Jews. And even those countries became lenient in enforcing the treaty (Hitler demilitarized the Rhineland without protest). As for the Balfour Declaration, that had more of an impact on the Ottoman Empire than on Germany.

      You point out the Nuremberg laws.. I think that only substantiates my point. While you may dislike or hate them and I’m sure you do not one bit of physical harm came to Jews over their enactment. Yet International Jewry declared War on Germany in 1933 over these Laws. They said nothing about the millions of Russians which were murdered from 1917-1933. Yet they become outraged with Stalin for the murders that occurred after 1947.. Interesting how certain murder is once again more important than other murders.

    This kind of thing sends a powerful message that should be noted. First, that it is obvious that there are people with this kind of attitude everywhere, lurking in the shadows and they are a force to be reckoned with, not to be ignored. Second that this is a way for those who believe in this kind of vile thing to get their message out to others with no consequences. There‘s no way the publisher didn’t know that this would fire people up worldwide, but he knew he could do it with no consequences whatsoever. They print it, people howl loudly worldwide, they apologize and tomorrow it’s off the radar. No one loses a job. The paper is not shut down. It’s old news within 24hrs. No consequences of any kind…. but they have by then accomplished their mission of letting like minded folks know that they are not alone. Sad but all true. Test yourself; will you even remember this happened in a week? I doubt it.
