‘Let’s Go To Work’: Did Elizabeth Warren Call for America to Go Communist?

Massachusetts Senate candidate and sometime Native American Elizabeth Warren has released a new campaign ad today, apparently pivoting away from her maligned race background to a more bread-and-butter message. Specifically, in the ad, Warren for more investments in infrastructure like roads and bridges. Which, as we all know, are the things that build businesses.

But so what? Surely the woman who foreshadowed President Obama’s infamous “You didn’t build that” remark calling for more spending on infrastructure is no more news than Barney Frank calling for gay marriage. True enough, but what sets this Warren ad apart from her typical line is her unfavorable comparison of the United States‘ infrastructure spending to China’s infrastructure spending.

“Our competitors are putting people to work, building a future. China invests 9 percent of its GDP in infrastructure. America? We’re at just 2.4 percent,” Warren says in the ad. “We can do better.”

Needless to say, unsympathetic media sources have already leapt on the comment, treating it as de facto evidence that Warren is sympathetic to communism. Given her close ideological ties to Occupy Wall Street’s message, this is not that much of a stretch. However, Warren apparently doesn’t see herself this way. A National Journal story quotes her as follows:

“Every now and again, I meet with someone who’s been very successful on Wall Street, who says, ‘I want to support your campaign because I believe you will save capitalism. I believe in capitalism, and I understand there have to be rules. And they have to be consistently enforced.’ That’s what I think is at stake in this election.”

That’s a hefty assignment, the salvation of capitalism, but Democratic strategists, while cringing at the grandiosity of the statement, say she articulates her vision for the assignment as well as any candidate.

So Warren wants to “save capitalism.” A noble goal, to be sure, but skeptics may be inclined to wonder if her tactics might be a bit mistaken. However, perhaps more importantly, one has to wonder how this will play with her supporters. After all, one of the key arguments by the Democratic party is that the Republicans currently represent a move back to the “failed” policies of George W. Bush. Now, how did Bush justify those “failed policies?”

Abandoning free market principles in order to save the free market system, right. What was that about saving capitalism again?

      Indead there were masons when the consituion was writen. but the power of the true founding fathers and their belife in God was more then the masons. so, the consitution was writen on how god wanted it, but you have seen how the the illuminati have chiped and chiped that the foundation of the consituion. so in other words the consituion would hold very little or no tampring for the masons but that has changed now.

      This is the real issue. Is she advocating communism? I don’t think so, however, she is advocating going deeper into debt which will destroy our nation. She wants to put people to work? Have welfare recipients take some union labor jobs at welfare rates. OJT that could lead to people coming off of welfare. The public works projects she advocates are union wage Davis-Bacon rates and we simply cannot afford that. Get rid of Davis-Bacon and find a fix to entitlements, don’t raise taxes and start paying down the debt and I then am on board with infrastructure projects. The liberals had a chance with the stimulus and unfortunately spent the money to offset local taxes in Obama districts instead of building infrastructure. Allow energy exploration and build the Keystone pipeline and use the taxes from that to build infrastructure. I will BET she will not back that plan.

    1. Warren is too stupid to understand that China spends more, because they didn’t have an infrastructure until twenty-five years ago.

    2.She should have the decency to admit that, if we do rebuild infrastructure, the government doesn’t pay for it. The private businesses that she and Obama deride pick up the whole tab – every nickel of it. Taxes confiscated from private business are the source of every dollar taht Warren and the rest of the buffoons in Congress piss away, taking care of us.

    3. Government doesn’t take care of us – we the private businesses and our employees take care of Warren and all of her fellow travelers that vote to keep her in office.

    It’s got to stop! Vote to keep this incompetent dolt out of office. There is no reason to give her a second chance to screw America.

    They are spending on infrastructure with the philosophy that supply precedes demand. But, this investment will never pay.

    Also, we already have twice the roads of China; so, they are playing catch up and have to spend more.

    I have a good Chinese friend still living in China who told me a long time ago that China’s stated economic growth was mostly government spending and not real sustainable production.

    Unfortunately, we have a lot of liberal office holders who don’t understand these concepts.

    Yeah… she wants to save capitalism about as much as the left wants to preserve our Constitution!

    She lied for years to two different universities about being a Native American to advance her career and then refused to speak to the representatives of the Cherokee Nation that she claimed to be descended from who wanted to meet with her.

    Just as Obama allowed his publisher to publish a biography for sixteen years indicating that Obama was born in Kenya.

    These people believe in relativism, the ends justify the means… so there is no truth, honor, or integrity – just their statist ideology. The government may help build roads – but the American taxpayers PAY for those roads! Remember, this is the same woman who wanted all Americans to turn their 401ks over to the federal government and receive and “allowance” when we retire, because she believes the government can manage those accounts far better that we can.

    The bottom line is that they believe all the wealth of the nation belongs to the government and it is up to them, as the ruling elite (especially the self-proclaimed ‘brilliant’ Ivy Leaguers) to determine how much we should be allowed to keep, and what all that money should be spent on.

    Sorry people…….. that is NOT capitalism, nor is it our Constitutional Republic!!!

      Interesting reading your remarks. You really twisted everything she has said and done into the exact opposite and you feel so smugly secure in your assessment. Professor Warren has advocated for the consumer and the Middle Class in everything she has done. She doesn‘t want your 401k but she doesn’t want to privatize Social Security. And she’s hesitant about these “market based” investments because she knows that the average consume CAN NOT make an informed decision against the stock market. This is true not because they lack the intelligence, but they lack the honest information needed. As to refusing to meet with members of the Cherokee Nation, would you meet with someone who had been sent by the political opposition to embarrass you? The only place this heritage question has been an issue is in the Conservative blogosphere. It’s a tempest in a tea cup. Just like Birtherism. It’s a bogus issue that is being used to play the underinformed voters.
