Letter that Launched Hitler’s Political Career Acquired by U.S., Says Jews Are An ‘Alien Race’

Adolf Hitler’s anti-semitism and militaristic behaviors began years before he led Germany into disarray.
New York’s Simon Wiesenthal Center revealed what is believed to be an original copy of Hitler’s first anti-semitic writing. The “Gemlich letter” was penned in 1919 and seen as the potential launch of Hitler’s political career (the document is named after the man the letter was addressed to).
According to NPR, research still needs to be done to ensure that the letter is, indeed, the original, though the Wiesenthal Center says that the signature looks authentic. This July, the document will be on permanent display at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. The Center obtained this disturbing writing from a dealer for $150,000.
Last week, The New York Times reported that scholars have long known about this letter, as a copy has been archived in Munich for some time now. Some skeptics question the authenticity is the recently-released version of the letter. The Times has more:
… news that another copy had made its way to Los Angeles met with some skepticism among historians. The market for Hitler memorabilia is notorious for forgeries.
“It has to have very good provenance,” said Klaus Lankheit, deputy director of the archive at the Institute of Contemporary History in Munich. “From my experience, I would be very skeptical.”
But Othmar Plöckinger, an expert on early Hitler documents, says it appears that the document acquired by the Wiesenthal Center is the original letter written by Hitler and that the one in Munich is a copy made about the same time.
Michigan State University has translated the text into English. Below, find just a snippet of Hitler’s discriminatory malice:
Through thousands of years of the closest kind of inbreeding, Jews in general have maintained their race and their peculiarities far more distinctly than many of the peoples among whom they have lived. And thus comes the fact that there lives amongst us a non-German, alien race which neither wishes nor is able to sacrifice its racial character or to deny its feeling, thinking, and striving.
Nevertheless, it possesses all the political rights we do. If the ethos of the Jews is revealed in the purely material realm, it is even clearer in their thinking and striving. Their dance around the golden calf is becoming a merciless struggle for all those possessions we prize most highly on earth.
These troubling words show Hitler’s dislike for the Jews more than 10 years before he assumed power in Germany. It is these views, among others, that drove him to commit unthinkable human atrocities.

My family has lived in parts of the SW of America before it was America and I welcome more Latinos to join us here…so long as they come in through the front door. I guess I am just another one of those racist teab@*&ers that hates Mexican (and apparently myself) for wanting our laws enforced. Wake up…if you want us to continue having the greatest country on earth we need to keep it a sovereign state. I for one prefer American’s standard of living as it is…apparently so do a lot of Mexico’s citizens, so lets try to preserve it and have those that want to be a part of it come in legally.

If you think my assertion that a majority of Americans are on the right is unreasoned, you are wrong. It is generally accepted among the reasonable. The polls consistently show more than half of the country as center-right and have for some time. Furthermore, the left has moved so far to the left, it makes those center-right seem extreme (hence the Tea Party) and that is a majority of Americans. See, I base my arguments in reason and not on ridiculous assertions or stereotypes.

If Ben Franklin or George Washington wants to condemn them in light of the 20th century,
they can have at it. Nothing will change the fact that these were the most persevering people I have had the pleasure of knowing. I had to have the daughter of an old Gypsy woman translate the tales she told of escaping the Germans in Europe. She was especially delighted to tell of the 15 German soldiers she murdered on her way from Germany, across Italy, and on to the American shore.
I kept my eye on her as I was interested in her daughters.
The Jewish death camp survivors taught me more than I can ever say. They are part of the reason that freedom is so important to me. I hope that it is as important to everyone here. Even the baiters.

By the time Hitler had been in power for a little over two years, the German constitution had been suspended in toto, the Reichstag (equivalent to our Congress) had been turned into a cheering section for the Fuehrer, all parties but the Nazis had been banned, all independent trade unions had been suppressed, thousands of people had been sent to concentration camps without the slightest pretense of due process, all media were under Nazi control, and an entire minority had been deprived of citizenship and all civil rights on racial grounds.

If many of these ideas and movements are left-wing, that would most likely be the effect of a couple of thousand years of persecution, which have sensitized them to issues of social justice and tolerance.
Jews were also among the instigators of 19th-century (classical) laissez faire liberalism and American neo-conservatism. Do names like Norman Podhoretz, Eric Cantor or David Horowitz ring any bells?

If we equate what they were going through then to todays problems, most of us feel that big businessmen, bankers and politicians are all greedy and corrupt. A lot of them are. There are some good ones though. And I dont think that anyone can say that the majority of those people belong to any one religion. Back then, in Germany, they were all Jewish. The German economy as such could easily have borne the burden of reparations to the WWI Allies by stabilizing the Reichsmark, but the political will was lacking.
The 1923 hyperinflation wasn’t so much the fault of bankers as it was the fault of German politicians, who on the left insisted on upholding lots of social spending, and on the right refused to raise taxes and in fact suggested it was virtually a patriotic duty not to pay the taxes that were levied.
Bankers, who loan money out, benefited less from the inflation than borrowers, who bet on being able to repay debts in money worth less than when they had borrowed it.
It simply is not true that the majority of bankers or rich businessmen, in the Germany of the 1920s were Jewish.
Jews did, however, run many retail chain stores, and were involved in a good deal of petty moneylending in rural areas, which perhaps explains why Germany’s small-town and farmers were among the first to turn to the Nazis.
Note, however, that the hyperinflation (1923) and the Depression (in Germany, 1928 and after) were distinct phenomena, and that, ironically, the former had the effect of imbuing Germans with a horror of unbalanced government budgets, which might actually have helped with the latter!

Simply look at the scenario as the US. Mexicans illegally cross the border, get jobs, become part of society and is not held to the same law as citizens. Because most illegals are Mexican a resentment has occurred in America by some to rid America of Mexicans.
Germany was the same. Jews, non natives, migrated to Germany and were not held to the same laws as the native Germans due to Jews religious beliefs. Interest on Debt, banking, was another disagreement and favor for Jews. Over time this resentment festered and fostered into hatred and evil, and thru an authoritative regime power was allocated into one mans authority thru National (Native) Pride.
Resentment is a slippery slope and Government can easily cause it to occur between any race or religious groups to play one against the other. Once power is allocated into one person it is almost impossible to stop. This is what happens when any group sees race first.

Recent attacks on Islam in the United States echo old slurs against Jews
After Abraham Foxman waded into the “Ground Zero Mosque” controversy, opposing plans to construct an Islamic community center a few blocks from the World Trade Center site, the Anti-Defamation League chief was assailed by critics who charged that the ADL was giving license to bigotry and betraying its historic mission “to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike.”
A week after initially coming out against the mosque, Foxman announced that the ADL was bowing out of the controversy, but the damage to the group’s reputation had been done.
The problem for the ADL is that there simply isn’t much anti-Semitism of consequence in the United States these days.
Jews have by now been fully assimilated into the American ruling class and into the mainstream of American life.
At the same time, many of the tropes of classic anti-Semitism have been revived and given new force on the American right.
Because the propagators of these conspiracy theories are not anti-Semitic but militantly pro-Israel, and because their targets are not Jews but Muslims, the ADL and other Jewish groups have had little to say about them. But since the election of President Barack Obama, this Islamophobic discourse has rapidly intensified.

So who is next, our government and media paints the Muslims as our enemy and then allies. Next it will be the conservatives or Christians or both. We will be rounded up like the Jews.

What I was trying to get across is…who cares? What was the point of this expense for a “curiosity” item? To gain more insight into Hitler’s warped mind? To prove to the goatherders that the holocaust happened without a doubt? The ol’ “never forget” catch phrase? For armchair warriors 60+ years after the fact to argue the details of how we could have stopped it earlier…or should have seen it coming…or to further spit on those erred in negotiations or strategy…to further pat those on the back who made some good decisions and have been blown out of proportion and into the realm of myth & legend?
That money could have gone to a cause which would bring about some tangible results and an ease of suffering for many. It could have gone towards a project which would benefit people of today and yet to be born.
Do we really need PolPot’s last poem? Do we really need Stalin’s last written thoughts on how to arrange his livingroom furniture? How about Ted Bundy’s grocery list?

Now, it is not the full set…I only have the ones labeled “Monday”, “Wednesday”, “Thursday” & “Saturday”…but they are in great condition and come complete with Eva’s handwritten comments, such as “Dear ‘Dolph, you let me in YOUR bunker & I’ll let you in MINE!” & “Take me like a Stuka strafing innocent civilians!” & “I need to marry a mass murderer like I need a hole in my head!”
So, you see…I have learned my lesson and truly hope this donation will finally put us over the top so we won’t ever repeat history.

That is the buying up of German assets by Jews during the hyperinflation following WW!. Evidently a Jewish group purchased the factory that Hitler’s father worked at and he was let go. It was the buying up of German assets and dislike of that by Hitler and Germans in general that allowed him to mount his campaign against them and attract followers.

The ruinous German hyperinflation occurred in 1922-1923, but Hitler was expressing his hatred of Jews well before that.
Many Germans, Hitler probably included, were primed to blame the Jews for their troubles in 1917 when elements in the German Army put out the (false) story that a high proportion of German Jews were dodging the draft.
Before World War I, anti-Semitism was if anything less virulent in Germany than in France, Russia or Hitler’s native Austria.

Like when they say the founding fathers like Madison were not vehemently against religion in government, but fought tirelessly against slavery. Many Germans followed and supported Hitler’s rise to power, not based on his hatred of the Jews, but of the significant transfer of assets during the period of hyperinflation. But perhaps the History channel and most validated accounts have it wrong.

That did occur and did create a resentment among many Germans. A resentment that Hitler was able to exploit. He was, as noted by a NY Times reporter at the time very charismatic, but that in and of itself was not enough to garner the wide spread support he obtained so quickly.
