Letterman Asks Cain: Will You Drop Out if Harassment Allegations Prove True?

David Letterman Asks Herman Cain: Will You Drop Out if Sexual Harassment Allegations Prove True?Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain again denied all charges of sexual harassment that have been levied against him in recent weeks, stating emphatically that the women who accused him of making unwanted advances are lying.

Appearing on David Letterman’s “The Late Show” Friday, Cain said people he talks to are more interested in important issues facing the country like the economy rather than focusing on the allegations.

“We have to focus on that because you don’t have a track record as president of the United States, so we have to determine what kind of guy you are before we can commit the welfare of this country to your hands,” Letterman said.

Cain readily agreed, but said his record as a businessman speaks for itself.

Giving his take on the way events with the allegations would play out, Letterman added, “I’m no stranger to sexual scandal.”

“Really!” Cain laughed.

In 2009 Letterman admitted on-air to having had sexual relations with staff members which led to an apparent extortion attempt.

“One of two things will happen,” Letterman continued. “You will be proven, you’ll be exonerated, they will all turn — it’ll be like Justin Bieber, all of that’s going away. Or they will prevail and there will be someone else coming forward. ‘Herman did this, this is the money I received and here’s exactly the documentation you need to prove he’s lying.’ Now what happens if that’s the case? Will you drop out of the campaign if that’s the case?”

Cain said there was absolutely no evidence to back up the allegations, and corrected Letterman by saying there had been no settlement, but instead a severance agreement.

“These statements are all false? All of these women are lying? They’re all lying?” Letterman asked.

“Yes, they are,” Cain said.

Though when Letterman later asked whether he had ever in his life said something to a woman he later regretted, Cain said yes.

“Yes, because it depends upon how certain women would interpret thing like a compliment,” he said, noting that it was during a time when “awareness for sexual harassment was really really high” and said when he was the CEO of Godfather’s Pizza he had experts come in and give seminars for his staff on prohibited behaviors.

Watch the full interview below, via CBS. Discussion of the sexual harassment allegations begins at the 16:30 mark.

Perhaps in Soviet Russia he’s guilty before a trial of any sort from charges leveled by women (2 who aren’t hiding) who were easily coaxed to leave their jobs for piddly chuckles money when it comes to normal ‘sexual harassment cases’.. A pittance meaning they had next to zero of a case..

How is it that you know about his morals? Were you there? Do you have inside information? What if people didn’t like you so they said things to hurt your reputation, would you want your name and your family dragged through the mud? Would you care if people just assumed accusations against you were true based on there were more than one person doing the accusing? Would you feel the same if it was one of your family members being attacked? Slander and bearing false witness is wrong.

Do you mean to say that Mr. Herman Cain is like Bill Clinton? Clinton was the only one that was really proved time after time that he sexually harassed woman after woman. In his case there were actual tape recordings of him and the some of the women he harassed. There was DNA evidence taken from that famous blue dress but Clinton did not quit. His law license was revoked for lying under oath bot he did not quit. Does that mean that Clinton has morality but Cain who is being falsely accused by a gold digger from Chicago with no proof at all has no ounce of morality at all ? If I were you, I would be ashamed to be such an empty headed mouthpiece for the liberal progressive movement that is destroying our beloved country with all your progressive BS.

Ditto! I am a very old white woman. I love Herman’s joking and his laugh—it comes naturally. He doesn’t need a stable full of writers like Letterman and the other so-called comedians.

Regarding the smoking—As I grew older, smoke bothered me more and more [health problems]. My working years were when the boss and most of the other employees were chain smoker—on the job. Another bad side effect, it made my hair and cloths stink, and to boot, my doctor wouldn’t believe that I did not smoke—guilty by association. LOL

I have a problem passing through the cosmetics area of a department—must first take a deep breath and go lickity split, and hope some silly clerk doesn’t spray me without permission the process.

As to Mark’s smoking a cig during the ad, to me, he was saying:

AND HE ISN’T JUST BLOWING SMOKE OUT OF HIS EARS!

I am sure some of the old-timers have heard that expression and probably used it. I felt it added some humor to the ad—a lot different than most political that are over before you know what happened or what they were saying. [Bad me, I mute the TV as soon as a commericial comes on; that is when I do my reading. LOL]

He knows the answers to all the questions because he has been involved with all the answers at one time or other. He was speaker during a time when by his leaderrship all our spending was curbed and the budget was balanced, we did have a deficit then, but oh it was much smaller than it is now. Newt prevailed even though we had a sociaist liberal president that had veto power named Slick Willie! There was some things went on while Newt was speaker in which he had no control over. executive orders like DADT, and the closing of many miitary bases in which made us weaker. Offsir, Just remember you were the first to bring up Pauls name. Why is it you automatically think if someone is against Cain, they are for Paul or a Liberal? You are your name, off sir. This scandal has nothing to do with me not being on the Cain Train and being for Paul. It is Hermans record and his tax plan that loses me with him. It is Pauls truthfullness and adherence to the Constitution that makes me his supporter. I am tired of Progressive candidates that have to move their position in order to get elected. Cain has his share of position moving over the years. You people think he is a Washington outsider, but that is far from the truth. He was Bob Doles lead campaign advisor in 1996, he ran for Prez in 2000, for Senate in 2004 and has done lobbying in Washington to boot. Paul has been in Washington for a long time also, but is shunned by the Progressives on both sides of the isle as he fights the status quo constantly. He adheres to the Constitution, which many in Washington do not these days. We need to put more candidates in Congress that adheres to the Constitution also. Our country is about toast because all of us have let the Constitution fall by the wayside. Our children and their children are the ones who will suffer the most from mine and your laziness over the decades.

I haven’t watched Loserman in years. I can’t imagine why.
On a totally unrelated note, 353 days until we have a president again. But who’s counting ? right ? Buh bye Obamanation, we can’t afford you anymore.

Now compare the interviews with barack and Cain. Letterman kisses baracks behind while keeping a condecending tone with Cain.

Cain gets another bad mark in my opinion for even going on the Letterman show. You never collaborate with the enemy!

so you will diss romney when he goes on right? or newt…or whoever else always goes on letterman.

Your vying for votes and you want to reach his audience even though they are mostly young skulls.
He has nothing to lose that he hasnt lost already from these biotches.

I would agree with you, except that Cain has a lot of experience dealing with malcontents! And, apparently he wore his waders to the Letterman show and came out with a duck! He will confront the enemy! It‘s been a long time since we’ve heard “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”!

I’ts a good idea for him to go on the show and any other Liberal show. It was a great interview and I had a good laugh WITH Cain, but I don’t want him as president.

Before the housing crash he said that the people who were saying that it was going to happen were not only ignorant but also irresponsible. This would make Peter Schiff and Ron Paul ignorant and irresponsible escpecially since he was predicting it at least as far back as 2002.

The one that understands how and why the mess came about should be in charge of fixing it.

Based upon Letterman’s question he should not be on TV anymore. Hypocrite! Cain should have turned that around. The audience would have gone wild in hysterical laughter.

Cain prolly had no clue to what Letterman was referring, if he was in his normal and usual form. How can you turn it back on Letterman if you don‘t know about Letterman’s “…that woman…”?

If he goes on Letterman THAT unprepared to deal with the fact and the foreseeable flow of conversation, unable to turn the tables on Letterman on THAT issue, no wonder we see him mess up dealing with “Right of Return” and Libya, Unionized Federal Employees on collective bargaining, etc, etc, etc…

Who keeps calling this guy intelligent?

We have to focus on that because you don’t have a track record as president of the United States, so we have to determine what kind of guy you are before we can commit the welfare of this country to your hands,” Letterman said.

I have one thing to say to Letterman. Impeached disgraced Former President Bill Clinton.

If remember correctly Letterman went thru the same thing. You would think that he would be more sensitive to Cain. Just proves once again Letterman is a liberal a-hole.
