Letterman Awkwardly Mocks Boehner to NBC’s Williams: He Cries ‘Like He’s on Drugs’

David Letterman returned to the airwaves Monday night and he kicked the new year off with an awkward interview featuring NBC’s Brian Williams. Or more accurately, a John Boehner bash fest that Letterman tried, unsuccessfully, to draw Williams into.

Letterman, who’s never been ashamed of his liberal views, broadcast his disapproval of incoming Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) by using the completely original joke that John Boehner’s crying has to do with drugs.

“But the guy will cry like he’s on drugs,” he told Williams, and then quickly launched into a story about how taking Valium for a concussion once made him loopy.

Williams, however, wasn’t happy with the whole thing, and interrupted Letterman to make it clear that the “funny” man’s comments were making him “highly uncomfortable.” See, Williams is preparing for his own interview with Boehner — the first interview Boehner has granted as the Speaker. For Letterman to put Williams in this position is highly unprofessional, and Williams knows it.

And while Williams tried to defend Boehner, Letterman would have none of it. He continued his tirade and even later suggested that Boehner has emotional trauma in his past and “needs some sort of counseling.” You can watch the painful exchange below:

Williams showed what and who he is! Had he gotten up and walked out, he would have shown he might be trying to be an unbiased reporter beginning in 2011. HE DID NOT!

TWO feet away from Letterman; he should have used his TWO feet to leave the studio and distance himself from these comments. HE DID NOT!

Boehner should meet for the interview and ten use HIS TWO FEET and walk away!

How about Dave taking on the pro-wannabe golfer? How about saying something about the NEW YORK UNIONS of “public servants”?

Now those would be funny as they shut Dave’s program down!

Letterman has always come across to me as a spiteful, arrogant little man that makes a living through sarcastic holier-than-thou wisecracks. Don Rickles used to do the same thing… for laughs… Letterman always seemed to give me the impression he was just plain mean about it. As far as Boehner… well, I really think that the circumstances of his “crying” would be as appropriate a call for emotion as anything. If he sees it (and I do) as a last chance to save this nation for your kids and mine, and I had been given the opportunity to play a major part in it, I’d probably well-up a bit also, cameras on-me or not. Better than the plastic, fake-out preaching our glorious Obama has been trained to present us every time there is a photo-op.

I agree with you, better to see someone crying for the last stand to save the country and take her back from the progressive nightmare at hand; than listening to the ‘plastic, fake-out preaching’ of Mr Obama indeed!

      Well said.

Thanks for the kudos Snow. I was also thinking that we should let Boehner get a chance to show other sides of his emotions… like rage at the frauds in Congress, or anger at what our false leader is attempting to perpetrate. As far as “drug induced,” I really fail to see where that even applies here… pot being the only drug that might get one emotional that I can think of… and Letterman would be the one to know about that, I’m sure. I am, myself perhaps embarrassingly emotional regarding a number of things, especially patriotism, but do not think think for a minute that it inhibits any ability to be defensively violent or outwardly in-your-face if pushed to go there. As opposed to the supposed “macho men” theories, pain, from a hammer blow or otherwise does not make me cry and I don’t follow any phony “rules” for when it is permissible… that in itself would be very phony.

good for him ! Boehner is SCUM !
The fact than an establishment lackey like Speaker-apparent John Boehner would fight against those in Congress attempting to challenge the power of the Federal Reserve is no surprise, but Boehner’s reported attempt to block Ron Paul from gaining the chair of a key subcommittee dealing with monetary policy is absolutely disgusting. Ron Paul has proven to be the grassroots favorite with the people, has repeatedly won GOP-straw polls for president, and no doubt played a significant role in winning tea party support for GOP candidates during the midterm elections. But he is being blocked precisely because he poses a threat to the Federal Reserve and establishment power in general.

John Boehner, on the other hand, is little more than a Newt Gingrich-acolyte who uses the conservative-name of the Republican party to uphold the false two-party paradigm while expanding big government. Thus, in another fight for a real voice in the Federal Government, the Alex Jones Show has initiated another search term to draw attention to this unfair inner-party tactic against Ron Paul. Please search “John Boehner Scam” and contact his office to demand that he cease this blatant attempt to silence the will of the people by rendering either Ron Paul or the subcommittee he would head virtually powerless.

As Bloomberg’s Business Week just reported, John Boehner is said to be working behind the scenes to prevent Ron Paul from gaining any new Congressional power over monetary policy:

Five GOP leadership aides, speaking anonymously because a decision isn’t final, say incoming House Speaker John Boehner has discussed ways to prevent Paul from becoming chairman or to keep him on a tight leash if he does. If Boehner, who will help determine who gets to chair subcommittees as early as Dec. 8, rejects Paul, he may have to contend with thousands of grassroots supporters and dozens of younger lawmakers who see Paul as a hero. Boehner, through a spokesman, declined to comment. “A lot of the older members probably think Ron is a little bit out of step,” says Representative Bill Posey, a Florida Republican and unabashed Paul fan. “The depth of his knowledge on monetary policy, his understanding of it all, is second to none.”

I really don’t care either about what David Letterman says about John Boehner. Consider the source. I suppose he thinks he is funny; What I think is funny is someone who is so ignorant of the MIRACLE that our freedoms mean, and the rarity of the liberty we enjoy that he thinks it strange when someone cries at the thought of their children and grandchildren losing it.
